- Jonathan Wardrip has been keeping fish his whole life. After his older brother left for college, Jonathan inherited his brother's 20 gallon tank and enjoyed it casually for many years. Six years ago, Jonathan returned home after college and through a series of (unfortunate?) events, learned about the nitrogen cycle, the extraordinary variety of other fish that could be kept, the fact that just because a tank had been running continuously for almost 30 years and had to be torn down and replaced doesn't mean it can't find new life once resealed... and has been hooked since. Jonathan now keeps many kinds of fish, but always comes back to cichlids and large (mostly predatory) freshwater fishes. His fishkeeping passions are Datnoids, Peacock bass, Caridina and Neocaridina shrimp and fishroom automation. Currently, Jonathan serves the SAS on our Board of Governors. Come join us in touring his fishroom!

Thanks for sharing! great tour! - Little Bobby
Great looking fish room......
I enjoyed these tanks alot. :) thanks for sharing you tanks.
Your collection is truly one of the more interesting that I've seen . You may already know this, but I just thought that I'd mention that you have two species of tinfoil barbs; Barbonymus Altus and B. Schwanenfeldii. The latter being those with the black lines in the caudal lobes. Again, gorgeous collection!
Wow,Forty years plus and I thought the lesser color Tinfoils are just inbred. So,they are a different species? I grew up seeing the red finned, black edged and steel chrome 15" beauties disappear from the hobby for decades and now on occasion I see them again..I just don't have the set up for them any longer.
@@StanTheObserver-lo8rx I guess that's why the hobby is so interesting....so much to learn :)
@@michaela-be4le Thanks for the info. I keep Rainbows now in my 240 gallon. The very young 2&9 YO granddaughters will sometimes try to spook them and the fish take it very well. Imagine what would happen if a 2 year old pounded her little hands holding a toy, on that tank with Arowana and Tinfoils?!..TNT!
@@StanTheObserver-lo8rx My nephews came to live with me when they were 6 & 2....I forbade them from venturing out back amongst my ponds and tanks without me for that very reason. Now 33 & 29 the elder brother brings his son to see the fish :)
Michael!!!! Thanks for this. I too have them and was wondering the differences!!!
WOW what a fish room!
Beautiful fishroom ❤️
These tanks are so clean
Great tour, great collection. Subbed and liked. Thanks.
Contain your enthusiasm
Awesome video and amazing fish room.
Impressive dude
Wow!!! Unbelievable and awesome fishroom!! Johnathan if you read this comment... Keep up the great work fishroom is amazing!!! Would be cool if you got some cigar barbs for the southeast Asia tank! ? Very cool this was great!!!!
Forgot to pay tribute to the Scats..one of my favorite fish that almost nobody seems to cherish..might be the name. Mono sebae and them, vastly underrated. Elegant fish I think.
Nice video... love datnoids myself too (I have 30+) but a bit of mis-information on the datnoids...
All datnoids are freshwater, although can tolerate salt & AT ( silver ) will prefer slightly more salt as it becomes older. I have all mine in Fresh, I own all except an ST (the dream!) but I have a 12/13" Silver in Fresh & a 8" NGT in Fresh.
@J's Aqua NGT and AT are the only datnoids that would benefit from extra salinity. I had a AT before ans I noticed that he was weaker in freshwater compared to my indos. He eventually died when he poorly acclimated to a bigger aquarium. For now, I keep 4 bar indos because they are full fresh.
The 600 is a bit tight for multiples of Datnioides. Also, the SIlver as they age do get color..just not as rich as the best types- I was told long ago. Great Arowana. He's got a great setup..running a constant drip of clean water is fantastic. My wife would kill me to do that..so I just go by big weekly water changes..and she grumbles about that.
Your Arowana is it a Jardini?
Like below of how many times he said umm in this video
👇🏽
Amazing! Can you explain how you are using canisters to power your sumps? Thanks!
Instead of using a pond pump, he utilizes the pump on the canister to pump water back up to the tank. The inlet is in the sump, the outlet is in the tank.
U can also tell tank sizes also
I live in sac I love your fish room. If you ever need any fish adopted I’m 15 and would love em.
