    Thank you for this great and clear tutorial. I will soon be replacing a woofer in my 6-months old RP-8000f speaker after one of them got a small dent in it somehow. I must have a ghost in the house that like to dent cones. Your video has given me the confidence to change mine on my own.

    Excellent video; I am looking forward for the next one. I have the previous generation of these ones: the RP-280F and a friend of mine has the RP-8000F and we have made trials side-by-side and we really cannot appreciate a difference in their sound; after many songs at different volumes we concluded the vented tweeter is not relevant. Room acoustics maybe…

    • @yournightmare9999
      @yournightmare9999 2 года назад

      Newest one have slightly upgraded tweeter so rp-280f for $800 is way to go compared to rp-8000f for $1204 now

    • @TopShelfAudio
      @TopShelfAudio  2 года назад +1

      Thanks for watching! It's for sure a subtle change, but it is there. Audio memory is very short and plays a huge role in this as well. The time it takes to switch wires over and such and the ability to recall exactly what it sounds like is insanely difficult/next to impossible. This is why in our compares, we use a switcher with an immediate change. If you have the previous gen, is it worth getting rid of and upgrading? Honestly...na, probably not. But if you have neither and are debating between the two, I definitely think it's enough to push you toward the newer version.
      All of that said, different generations of the same speaker, the signature will remain the same or it would be a new speaker as opposed to a new gen. :)

    Got my replacement driver and got the beaut ring and it out no trouble at all, the issue now is to get the beauty ring back on, difficult. I even put two marks on the ring and the speaker so I would know the position to put it back in, but no, it has to be difficult. I have ended up cutting off the plastic clips and using some clear silicone adhesive.

    Great video! I’m looking at stepping up from the Fives to the RP-8000 I absolutely love the sound of the Fives but want something that’s a bit of an step above and am considering the 8000 with the 504c

    • @TopShelfAudio
      @TopShelfAudio  2 года назад +1

      That would be a great upgrade! Additionally, getting into a more theater style setup and adding a center, you'll see huge improvement over a 2 channel. The Fives are awesome, but if you can go for a full home theater setup, you're experience will be upgraded.

      Get the 504C for sure you won't regret it, other than that i would prefer a good sub over the upgrade of your Fives or even double Sub if you already own one.

    • @TopShelfAudio

      To be honest most of our guys are happy to buy the SVS cables from us, they're no-frills, basic pure copper with a high strand count and a respectable brad and terminals, for this level of speaker there's really not much reason to look at anything else.

    • @TopShelfAudio
      @TopShelfAudio  2 года назад

      While it is a very important part, my thoughts were, showing how to replace components that may have issues in the future. While a xover can go bad, drive components are far more likely to need replacing. That said, I will start pulling the crossover going forward as, it sounds like we have a few people that would like to see it!
