I can't be the only one that ended up unknowingly watching this entire podcast in ten minute chunks.
You're not alone 😄
Nope u aren't
Yeah I didn't know her but she's pretty and has a great personality, definitely better on video this one 😄
Same
Wish they would just give it an all in one option
Never did TV or Film or anything like that. Did theater in school for a bit though. Very familiar with the saying goodbye to people over the odd project you did together and watching everyone tear apart the set and stuff. Same vibe as summer camp, lifelong friendship feeling with people you'll never see again.
I now sell art at events (comic cons and the like) and it's a similar vibe too. You make buddies with people near you in the slow times. You have weird inside jokes and experiences that don't make sense to people who don't work those kind of things. And you won't see them for a few years until you both are working a show (or they've quit and now they're doing normal stuff) and you bump into them. And it's just that bittersweet saying hello and goodbye over and over again with people who you kind of fell in love with a bit. And when you see them again, it all comes back like no time has passed.
Never thought I'd relate to entertainment people so much on that. lol.
this is such a fun and warm podcast thank you guys
If I could trade places with Conan for anything, my top choice would be being Lizzy Caplan's friend
Daaaamn, had no idea she's the girl from Freaks And Geeks. One of my fav. shows. She seems so nice.
As a successful film and television writer, producer, and director, Conan O'Brien knows how to run a show; but he wasn't always as successful as he is now. After graduating from college, O'Brien worked as a writer for several television shows- but his dream was to host his own program. Being the good friend he is, Jon Stewart allowed him to host his first show on his college campus when he was still in his mid-twenties. From there, O'Brien went on to host The Conan O'Brien Show and has been wildly successful ever since.
I'm not the first to comment and honestly, I'm okay with that. *twitches*
Only your boyfriend cares Philly.
[hugs you]
Lol
With Conan’s podcast you can tell he’s wanted to have real conversations with his guests the twenty years he was a host, but it was meant to be superficial and funny. And now he’s making up for it with these really real, great GREAT conversations. A smart, sensitive, funny, decent man pulling the humanity out of celebrities cuz he actually cares about them as people - that’s an amazing thing.
this is one of the most meaningful interviews ive ever seen, for myself atleast, and this piece hit especially deep being in the military and having had and lost so many deep connections with people
Lizzy is a delight! I'm so glad Conan finally got her on the podcast
It's insane how Conan and Lizzy are vibing on the exact same energy level
helps that they are friends in real life.
We need her and Aubrey Plaza to play sisters in a movie
Or lovers.
We need her and Conan to play sisters in a movie...
@@IDiggPattyMayonnaise We need Conan to play a sister in the sequel to "Nuns On The Run".
@@IDiggPattyMayonnaise Andy could play the other sister.
@@IDiggPattyMayonnaise Jay Leno could be the villain.
This was surprisingly relatable. I don't work in the entertainment business but the experience of becoming a tight-knit group while working intensely towards a shared goal and then having a very abrupt end to that whole thing once the project is finished is very familiar to me. It almost makes you question whether the experience was even real in the first place or if you invested way more of yourself into the project than other people did and that's why it feels like everybody's casually returned to normal while you're still processing what happened.
its like school but concentrated into a year
I had (and still kinda do) dreams of working in the entertainment industry but I think it would be extremely hard to constantly lose your daily group like that. Even as a kid always had trouble at the end of the school year, especially If I knew some people wouldn't be back. I'm pretty sure I just have attachment issues though.
@@DirtyFrigginHarry nah thats normal. not wanting to hang on to your good friends is whats weird
@@defectivepikachu4582 I mean I'm 32 I've got like, 8 good friends left and only 2 I talk to on a regular basis
This is why a lot of people get depressed after they lose their job.
Oh, I do not think I could handle the emotional roller coaster of that! When I meet people I really bond with and become best friends with, I expect to continue being friends. It would be really hard to have that just drop off all the time.
i really like this lady's voice and way of talking... really soothing for me
And gorgeous

And Brutal...
Welp, I have binge watched many hours of Conan Needs a Friend this week (procrastinating work) and I think this was my favorite guest interview. Lizzy Caplan really impressed me, and you can actually feel when Conan is interested and comforted by guests that are his friends. Not to say that his episodes with Bardem and Luke Wilson, etc, aren't also amazing, but I think this is my favorite.
This hit close to home...thought I was the only one who was so sentimental about these fleeting experiences of camaraderie.
12 more minutes of Lizzy?? Heck yeah!
2:48 Gourley laughing at abandonment like the sociopath he is.
I’m so happy to hear her talk about this. I’ve gone through the exact same turmoil when shows I’ve been on have ended, especially the magical ones where you become a family. It is such a weird thing to have and then to have it suddenly end.
"Betwixt the legs." lol
How is she 40?? She looks amazing. Sona too!

I am addicted to Conan in a way that needs a 12 step.
Same, maybe 13 so I have more time to destress.
You only need one: Imagine him being naked.
I'm not an actor but I know the feeling of wanting to keep that bright eyed view of things. I was a big party person and every night felt amazing for about 10 years straight, I met 100s of new ppl a year! Eventually I settled down and parties started to not be worth the hangover and now I dread going to them. I miss the feeling of being happy about parties and I only go to them about once every few months now instead of every weekend.
Could you just only have Lizzy Caplan on forever?
She’s so beautiful
I always think about this when it comes to productions. I still think about the cast of Everwood. I was obsessed. Then they’re just like, “welp it’s cancelled! Pack up your feelings for this show and call it a day that’s a series wrap outta nowhere!”
One of my fondest memories was when i just got into photography, somehow i managed to make friends with ppl who wanted to be a model and another photographer. one day we finally arranged to go somewhere abandoned and take cool shoots, the whole ordeal was unbelievably such a fun and bonding experience. After it was done life kinda took us seperate places but i always remember it, the camaraderie you get when you collaborate in person to make something you're passionate about is just irreplaceable, second to none.
I love Lizzy's "God bless dance!" 😂😂at the end
Yup, my mom died when I was 11. Then abuse from the remaining "parent." === C-PTSD.
Delightfully endearing!
I've always had a huge crush on this girl.
What a thoughtful and insightful actor.
it sort of sounds like summer camp, honestly
I only remember her as a honey potting agent....
I prefer the metaphor of Summer camp or something similar.
I just see her and Adam Scott together
Boa noite, linda mulher sensacional, numa boa entrevista. Gostei do vídeo.
Caplin has been pigeon holed as the quintessential Jewish house wife. An archetypical Woody Allen character actress, although she is only in one Allen movie.
It's a relief to know I'm not the only one. I do a fair amount of local community theater, and have had similar, very intense experiences like those described here. And then the show ends, and we go our separate ways - at least until some of us meet up again for the next show.
She seems like a great person. She actually accepted my friend quest when she was on Facebook for a brief time.
Betwixt 🤣
Conan I think now is a better time than ever to go back to Harvard and take EC10
As someone who also lost their mom at 13, I absolutely have major abandonment issues too. Makes sense.
Who is Taffy?
Same question for me
The creator of the show she’s on right now, Fleishman is in Trouble.
@@andrev5992 Thanks, man!
Really enjoying Fleishman is in Trouble. Love Lizzy Caplan, always have.
First
Wait were they talking about abandonment issues or abdominal issues?
Abandonment issues
both
This was my favorite part of the episode :D
Why does Conan have giant gold ring suddenly?
Its still weird to me how these friendship works
Why am i just now coming to the conclusion that i am in love with her ❤
10:53 Is it like pizza dough belly?
She is basically saying that she can avoid alot of the alienation of capitalism in artistic creation, and critically, it pays her enough that she is not coerced into work she doesn't like.
Omg Katy Perry!
Reagan in real life
This was deep.
Nice Octonions
great episode
I love her ❤️😙
Trenches by conan , homeis by conans sister guest
Haha, wuuuuuut?
You're soon both to be awarded firstly for all these percievaby evil deeds, where your heart lies, the flesh keeps tally... save we confront ourselves amidst all our glorious shared vision, break the bonds of your excitement the show musk go on 😆
the trenches can be worse than you think. No repair and you are stuck in the situation
These cats have never worked in a kitchen before.
Literally the most common job for an actor.
Blarp blarp blarp
It’s so weird to me how actors or creatives think that working in an office is easy and there’s zero bond b/t colleagues after hard work and intense experiences.
Most ppl dont have a linear path to success and have to figure it out on small salaries and no platform to voice their concerns.
So dismissive and self-righteous!
I love her. I just rewatched Cloverfield and was so bummed when I remembered she died so soon in the film. I wish she was in it longer. Her and TJ Miller were my favorite characters.
