NA and EU teams should take notes. You cannot negate a language barrier with ingame skill. You need to be a team in and off the Rift, and for that you have to understand each other.
yes you can. language barrier is an NA excuse. 2015 EDG communicated in only rudimentary english as they had non chinese speaking koreans on their team, saying things like 'care care', 'i tank', 'care big gnar, ok small gnar'
I work in a restaurant, and some of our kitchen staff only speaks Spanish, and I only speak English. But even with a language barrier, you can form good connections with people just by saying good morning/goodbye every day and with facial expressions. We don't communicate very much with language, but still have good and friendly relationship and communicate with hand gestures or google translate on our phones, as well as the very basic stuff we know in each other's language. So while I know Korean is a much more difficult language and playing LoL together is a much much difficult task, I think he can continue to build a great bond with his teammates just by continuing to show his effort and being involved. I think ultimately this challenge for him will be the most rewarding one of his career, wishing him the best
yeah it's very easy to build up close bonds with people you work with even across language barriers. even without speaking directly people can see your attitude, the way you carry yourself, and your work ethic. all things that lead people to respecting you, and over time respect can turn into more personal bonds. i don't pretend that i'm like super "close" to people i've worked with who don't speak english, but i do think it's a lot easier than people realize to work with people even with that barrier. someone like rekkles clearly has the work ethic and motivation to show the people around him he cares.
I am just glad that Rekkles is happy. there were long spans of time when he was unhappy with his team, but it seems hes finally found a place where he can truly make a difference. I am sure most pro players that were around back in the day miss what it was like to be on the ground floor again, hungry for success, and seeing their hard work pay off. T1A is awesome and i will continue to watch them. It was also great to see smash speak up for Rekkles, he knows just how important he is to the team and their success. When you have someone like him who has been there done that, the information he could provide is invaluable.

It must be such a massive challenge to come to a foreign country with a language you don't speak, with a culture you've not lived in before and still be so committed to what you do. It's about so much more than just showing up at that point, it's about needing to take the time to build almost everything from the ground up. I really respect Rekkles for stepping up to that challenge, I don't think many could do it.
From rekkless's teammates, it must be insane to have a player with that much experience in the team. Cant imagine how much he is teaching them at the same they are teaching him. Good to see him happy
Depends on the person, asian languages are some of the most hard to learn from nothing to outsiders and for Rekkles it is his third language so that makes it a bit more difficult
Learning a new language really just depends on how much the person is willing to use and interact with others. I have known a person who lived in the U.S. for 12 years and couldn't even introduce himself in English. He just used his primary language in the U.S. for 12 years.
That and if you're willing to learn. Also hiring a good teacher. Contrary to some opinions - that a native speaker is good teacher of their language too, most of the time this is not true. Because they learned the natural way, and they don't actually know how to teach.
@@alcides5699 100%, The hardest part of Korean in my opinion would have to be their their grammar. It's just so different compared to most countries, although Japan has a similar grammar structure to Korean. Another thing that is challenging is the particles they have in Korean can get super overwhelming at times. Same goes for their conjugations of verbs with all the different tenses and different levels of formality. Other than that, their alphabet is definitely one of the easiest ones in East Asia, well at least compared to Chinese characters and Japanese kanji.
