“I will not go to jail for your foolishness today… But I will go for my pride.” That was a pretty badass line. This was also beautifully done and funny as well, wow. The twist at the restaurant. Brought tears to my eyes when he remembered the good times with his mom and now experiencing parenting with his own child.
😂😂 has to be one of the best short films I’ve seen in a minute. As a Nigerian, I can confirm I see my entire timeline whenever my Nigerian mom descends such heavy slap on me. Sometimes, I see the future too.
I loved it. I felt so many emotions. Embarassment why is the mum hitting her son like that? Angry why is he disrespectful to his mum telling her that she's a cleaner? Lightbulb moment she's has always been saving his life. Laughter, what goes around comes around. This was a great production. Bless the strict mothers' out there.
@@candlerosemintMy parents never hit me and I turned out fine. Using corporal punishment on children is proven to be traumatic. It is harmful for both their mental health and physical health. lmaoo did you watch the entire short film? I do agree with you about the corporal punishment part. I have had my fair share of trauma in childhood, so I know its a big deal. Its just in this short film, it isn't abuse. The mother was saving her son from choking towards the end@@justanothermortal1373
Cinematography on point! Seeing the slap in the lady’s eye… the wind from the slap. The beads of sweat flying. I teared up thinking of my own parents. And laughed just the same. ❤
This movie is what I needed today. It had me laughing and crying. It had me gasping to keep my soul from leaving my body when he called his mom “just a cleaner”. It was easy to connect to the characters right away. Great acting and great film. Hope we see more of this on Omeleto.
Now we understand why Baba was just sitting there while she was giving the Nigerian Heimlich. Just what I needed at that age. Tough love Thanks Ommeletto!
Hilarious! I enjoyed the mother-son relationship and the unfazed father. What I thought was not what the slaps were for; goes to show you've got to know the whole story instead of being biased 😚😂😉
Wow this whole thing was perfection! I usually have low expectations for projects similar to this, in the uk. It normally comes out like some gcse drama act, BUT THIS- thissss completely set the bar high! The quality, detail and cinematography of it feels to be ranking as high budget as well. I hope to see more be movies like this! Storytelling relatable african experiences. Such a heartfelt, funny and authentic piece🩷🇳🇬 well done to my people! 😭😭😭and I genuinely laughed Props to RUclips recommendations for this one
...and when they're older, they tell you not to hit their grandchildren. Captured a video of my mum and kid playing football together few months ago, it was surprising.
This whole thing was so siiiiiiiick and EXTRMEELY WELL MADE. The story telling, the camera work, the acting, casting, everything!!! I can’t believe this doesn’t have a million views. Absolutely LOVED it!
Where do I start??? 😂 Do i share this with my family now? Or wait to make it mandatory Christmas viewing? I cycled through so many emotions watching this. Yes, Nigerian mothers are from another planet. Nigerian parenting is special. Thank you, mom and pops. ❤
seems like the mom avoided knocking some sense into him for years and she finally did it, causing him to relive those moments where he needed the sense 😭
This was absolutely incredible, i'm just lost for words. Its amazing how this made me feel so many things. Joy, sadness, fear, grief. Incredible work done by the filmmakers
One of the best things I’ve seen this year! Thank you for making such a beautiful piece. It was so well, done, drove strong messages in the most creative and visually stunning way. 👏🏽
i love this one...as a nigerian child, this is relatable, the plot twist at the end....naaaahhhh straight out fire.....we literally turn out to do same thing to our younger ones, cause our parents in most cases already grown softer over time...
wow this reminds me of something my very naija mummy would always tell me, “for every headache & stress you’ve caused me in this life, you’ll experience double when you have children of your own” 😭
God bless all truly Nigerian mums. Wow! This took me back, I laughed, shook ma head, I remembered... and I miss my mum... kudos to the team for putting this together. 🎉
There's a new Puerto Rican comedy film called Daniel El Travieso where one of the characters played all by the same actor portrays his mom, a skilled expert at the use of her chancla for literary Everything.
I really loved this. And also felt emotional at the part where he called his mom but she wasn't at the table again. ( she was late ) I miss my dad. ( I'll try not to cry as I write this ) This short clip is 1000000000/100 for me 💕💞💖💖💖💖💖
Damn! You guys are good at this short film thing. The music, editing, acting, story, everything was just perfect. I look forward to seeing more of you and your works.
Tried my best not to cry watching this as I see it from a son perspective and as a farther as well, keep up the good work and look forward to more, your the one to watch. I know i will be probably be ridiculed for what im saying and im ok with it, just had to say. I wanted to see this from the mothers day 1 xtra interview as soon as i could.
This documentary reminded me sooooo much of my parents in every way, it was actually terrifying. and the father looks sooo much like my dad thats crazy
This was well done😂. It had me laughing alot and then that moment he realized how the Mum had done so much for him. I don't know I just started tearing up, I really hope to make my Mama and Dad proud.

Agreed
I laughed when his own child was going through what he went through , and he said she ate too much chicken and chips LOL .
I didn't see the twist coming! You captured the essence of the short film very well 😊
As a Nigerian, I can confirm to you that our lives do flash before our eyes.😂😂
Mine starts from creation.
I second this message. Nigerians who have witnessed this exact slap know that you will see your entire timeline
As a St.Lucian & Jamaican I too can confirm that our lives do flash before our eyes!
Lol!! 🤦🏾♀️😂🤣
Why are you laughing? That is physical abuse. I hope you are ok

"Nigerian Heimlich"! 😂😂😂😂💀
😂😂😂
this comment is goated!!! hahaha
Moment he said" ur a cleaner" I saw his funeral bells ringing
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Absolutely brilliant portrayal of a mother's love. Remember, nobody will ever love you as much as your mother does! (In most cases)
As a Nigerian, I can confirm the validity of the documentary.
As a Surinamese I concur. But i have to say, the stares of my grandmother burning into my sole hurt more than my mothers slaps...
Documentary 🤣😭
Screaming at Documentary lol
I’m not Nigerian… I’m Asian but I can totally relate ❤️
My moms slaps got me here today 😂
😅
what a hilarious but emotional film. the director really did his thing with this one
Nigerians are very serious when it comes to the success of their children. Education, and having a successful career is very important to them.
As an African child this Brings back so many memories.😂😂😂😂 I love this film
As a Black American this was very enlightening to observe Nigerian culture. This is a very well made and well acted short film. Well done indeed.
You were not observing Nigerian culture, you were observing True African culture. As a man I got flogged by my dad&mom until I was 20😊😊.
@@abdulaitimbo6292 okay
So hilarious, truth be told some of those slaps reset our brain
It's the high pitch ringing 😂😂😂 they captured it exactly!!
When he invoked his moms spirit at the end 😂😂😂😂

Even the people that haven't seen this yet, felt those slaps. 🤔😆
As a caribbean born and raised, this does happen to me, one time i even visited my past life, it was an awesome experience, till i got back to reality
As a black American I can also relate. Phenomenal piece!!!
Your ancestors must have learned it somewhere, cuz. 😉
