    Focusing on the back of the shoulder, moving back into a position is the best way I have heard it described. People don’t need to know the theory, they just need to know the movement.

      That's cool, I'm starting my lessons in uk in August, so i want to learn as much as i can so I've got a little knowledge from the start. This channel has been such a huge help, i can't thank him enough for taking the time to teach this, as i found archery to be not what i expected at all, but still going to give it my all, and hopefully one day I'll have a medal or two..can't wait to start my journey.

    Thanks for these vids man, was a complete novice to the sport at the end of 2019 and got my first top 20 qual rank at socal this year. A lot of that was due to the content you put out in that time helping me to understand everything and absorb information much more efficiently. A lot of people ask me how I learn so quickly and I always reference them to your material and the KSL book.

    Thank you for the insights... Back-tension is the ever elusive Holy Grail sometimes, sometimes it comes naturally and without any effort.
    Your series is very helpful, and I'm glad to see you mentioning compounds a bit more.

    As i said i am new to archery.
    I didnt even shoot over 50 times yet.
    I am happy if you could figure out why i have problems with my aim.
    I always try to focus on the target but i have focus problems when i trie to aim with the sight.
    I always see everything blurred.
    I ask a trainer in a archery club and he didnt know as well.
    If i close one eye i dont have these problems and can aim a little bit better.
    But not perfectly as it should be.
    Thank you for your videos.
    Your videos helping me alot in my archery jorney.

    Excellent tips today Jake, it's the most important part of my shot process and some times it's the hardest too achieve, I like what you said about do t think of the muscles that achieve it , I have been trying to do that lately and it's been jamming me up a bit, I will just focus on the words that engage my back tension and hit my conclusion ., great timing on this video 👊

    At some point in the past few months I must have forgotten this part of my form. I'd been struggling to hold anchor for any length of time, like I'd lost strength in my draw arm, recently developed pain in my trap, and felt like I wasn't drawing back as far.
    You explaining this refreshed me and I just consciously pulled my shoulder back and found a solid1.5 inches of draw length, and took a ton of strain out of my arm and trap

    What do you do with your bow arm during back tension Jake? Do you push your arm forward as in keeping tension in that direction or do you try squeeze your back muscles together, as in trying to pull both shoulder blades together, which would, as a left hand shooter, slightly move the bow arm to the right. I know what to do with the draw arm but not exactly sure what to do with the bow arm during back tension.

    Thanks i found this very helpful, as I'm starting my first lessons in August i want to get as much knowledge in as possible. And i actually burst blood vessels by doing this wrong, so its so important to learn these, even before training so I've got a little edge on my pull back motion. Thankyou so much for sharing you're knowledge. From a bigginer in uk, i really appreciate you're time.

    Great video Jake. What I tend to struggle with is pushing with the bow arm. Should I push as hard and far as I can into the target? Should I do it with 2/10 intensity as you explain for other things?

    • @JakeKaminskiArchery
      @JakeKaminskiArchery  11 месяцев назад +3

      I reach with 100% of my range of motion and push into the bow equal to the amount I pull.

    And how do I achieve this with the elbow, with the anchor in the corner of the lip?

  • @JeffZaiham
    @JeffZaiham 11 месяцев назад

    Using the back muscles to pull the bow back will result in a more arching motion (semi circular) as opposed to using your arm muscles to do it. That will result in a more linear movement to the rear. I find that consciously using my shoulder and back to draw will lead to a better anchor, better hold alignment and ultimately a better release for a better shot. I actually tried this based on scoring (30 arrows) and my shoulder/back draw produced better scores (236) as opposed to arms only draw (215).. did the arm draw first..

    sort of reminds of of the proper kayak stroke vs what people think is the proper kayak stroke. A proper kayak stroke is done 90% w/ the body core and legs (obliques, abs, shoulders, back, quads, calves). The arms are basically connectors until the very end of the forward stroke.

    My sons is 13 and he’s on his schools NASP archery team. He’s struggling with developing a smooth release. They use three fingers to pull the bowstring back and when he releases his hand tends to fly out away from his face instead of remaining still or retracting backwards. He’s aware of it but claims he can’t physically prevent his hand from flying out away from his face. Any advice?

    I am struggling with my anchor. My arrows release before i am properly able to anchor. I am struggling with where to anchor. Should it be right on my chin or my lips or my nose. By the way I anchor under my chin like in the Olympics. And I use three fingers in under for 55m. Please help me.

    I am confused as how this relates to coiling? Because when I practice I do all the stance stuff, but rather than coil, I pull with my lan 2 and find the coil happens naturally when I do that movement. Is that bad?

    Keep the bow close to your chest. If you keep it too far away, you'll use your bicep instead of your back.
