  • Check out the Eaton Wi-Fi Smart Light Switch with Alexa control on Amazon - amzn.to/3xJebz6
Recently my Mom asked me to help her get the exterior lights on her house set up to come on and turn off automatically. I thought about getting her some Z-Wave light switches which she would be able to control through her security system app on her phone but in the end we didn't see any reason she would need to be able to control her exterior lights like that and felt all she really needed was something we could set up on a schedule. I went to our local Lowe's Home Improvement Warehouse and found some Eaton Wi-Fi Smart Light Switches (model no. WFSW15-C2). In my previous video I showed how to remove your existing 'dumb' light switch and then how to wire up and install these Wi-Fi Smart Light Switches. If you'd like to check that video out you can watch it here - • How to Install a Wi-Fi...
Rather than creating their own app Eaton decided to use Amazon Alexa to remotely control these switches. This allows for Alexa voice control as well as setting the lights up to turn on and off on a schedule of your choosing. Once you've got your new smart switch installed and have it paired with the Alexa App on your smartphone or tablet you can assign your switches to a group and set schedules for them to turn on and off automatically. My Mom wanted her Outdoor/Exterior lights to turn on at Sunset and off at Sunrise. In this video I show how to both assign your switches or other devices to a group and how to set a schedule for those devices as well as how to add other devices to schedules you've created. Alexa is capable of controlling A LOT of different devices each with their own functionality so programming these switches to work with Alexa is a little intimidating the first time you do it. However if you follow along with this video you'll have it programmed and figured out in no time. Thanks for watching and enjoy. :)

      PLEASE HELPP.....
I use Acer Nitro 7 with Coolermaster MH630. I had mic issue. My voice was coming through Laptop mic instead of the mic I've got. The issue was with driver. I was able to fix it after a few months.
I had to open Realtek audio console and select 'Connector Retasking: Analog' to 'Headset' instead of 'Headphone'. After that my voice came through my headset mic instead of laptop speaker. It worked for a couple of months. I did not use my laptop for a few days. When I opened laptop, my mic was not picking up voice even though it was selected 'Headset'. When I select 'Headphone', the voice is coming through Laptop mic.

Thanks for the video. I have set routine for my outdoors lights to go on at sunset and a routine to go off at sunrise. The issue I’m having is that lights go on at sunset but sometime in the middle of the night the outdoor light are off. I then turn them back on and then they’ll go off at sunrise. I can’t figure out why it will not stay on until sunrise. Any suggestions? Please let me know your thoughts. Thank you

They really need to change the app configuration in my opinion. There should be an easier way to set up routines for devices. You should be able to click a device and have a simple option to set up dusk to dawn without having to create multiple routines for simple tasks. It's insane to me that they still haven't simplified this!

Why do we make a 'group' if we have to select each light/switch/plug individually to add to a routine? What's the purpose of a group? Why can't the group we created be put in the routine?
    Great Video!!! TIA

Because you can add groups to routines, which can be useful if you have a lot of routines for that group, or if there is a chance you'll add a switch to the kitchen group. Instead of adding that switch to each routine, you just have to add it to the group. And you can have groups within groups.
You can also add an echo device to a group. Instead of saying "turn off kitchen lights" or "off living room lights" you just have to say "turn off the lights" to the echo in the room you're in.
Groups are super useful and you should build it this way or you'll be wasting time chasing down all the little routines any time you make a change to your smart home.

So I am curious do I always have to have Alexa open on my iPhone for the scheduled events to run???

No. I'm not 100% sure how it works, but I believe the Alexa app is just the app used to communicate with the switch and it then saves the program to the switch. I programmed my Mom's switches using my phone and her lights are still working great on the schedule I set up.
