Dave Rubinoff was my great grandfather's first cousin, and my grandfather toured with him playing radio shows in the 30s and 40s, My grandfather (Albert Saparoff) became a concertmaster violinist and played with the Harry James Band, was in the MGM Orchestra for 14 years, played 14 academy awards shows during the golden era.. and was concertmaster of the Hollywood Symphony Orchestra. His Joseph Gagliano (1742 - 1820) Violin is now gifted to a new exceptional Chapman Student yearly. I recently found the student who has it, and I was able to hear my grandfather's violin again. I have some newspaper clippings of Dave and my grandfather, the spun it as if the maestro had a new rival... but they were family, 1st cousins once removed. Amazing talented men who helped to pull the country through the depression with their music. :) Thank you for posting this video, Ted Lewis museum :)
Rubinoff performed until shortly before his passing in 1986, however all of those performances were with piano accompaniment. This concert marked the first time his original orchestrations were heard in 80 years.

Cool story! Thank you for sharing! I met Mrs. Rubinoff many years ago and catalogued the Maestro's orchestra music and even saw his Magic Violin.
My Aunt Darlene was married to him.
I have her in my tree on Ancestry!
I met her and she was a sweetheart.
It wasn’t the first time in 80 years. I have an autographed program where he presented on February 13, 1956.
