The Ted Lewis Orchestra: Rhythm Rhapsody Revue June 21, 2014!
My grandma got a Christmas card every year until he passed. She'd always say "Is everybody HAPPY"
Totally DELIGHTFUL❣️❣️❣️ more and more. Please.💙❤️💜
Too bad that a rank amateur did the pathetic encoding job on this historic clip.
You are seeing history. The uniqueness of this gentleman and master entertainer will never be forgotten by anyone who saw, and heard him. RIP Ted.
what a gift this is. I have watched films of Ted, as well as played his recordings over the years. I was knocked out by this "This is your life" Show. Impressive and a givt of love. The Ted lewis Museum site I have just discovered and its contents are overwhelming. Ten thumbs up!
How fantastic!
The Eddie Leonard imitator was spot on!
Thanks for shearing! It' s like Pina Baush style!
2:37 the guy who is not Ted is amazing!! who is that?
He had four African American back-up dancers.
A brief excerpt of a more energetic version of this act appears about ten minutes into the 1934 film Evelyn Prentice, uncredited even on IMDb, but Wikipedia attributes it to the Nicholas Brothers 😀
I’ve seen this when visiting the museum decades ago and it gave me such a delight to see again. My grandfather Sol Klein is one of the guests shown. Thank you !!
Beautiful
Nan Wynn, very attractive, and a good singer too
Ted and his shadow 🤦🏻♂️🤣🤣
He isn’t really a singer … but a fantastic old time entertainer … like Jimmy Durante but cornier. My hat’s off to you, Mr. Lewis.
Okay his name is TED LEWIS? Thanks commenters. …. how did his top hat stay on at that angle? ... What a look! !
Yessir!!!
Bro left his old music phase. 😔
@@Bighead_Joe 😔
" in a dream! " - a wise man.
Nuh uh, it's "And a rea-"
I think this may be Ted's last tv appearance before he became ill and passed.
No, he was on The Hollywood Palace again in 1967, hosted by Donald O'Connor. That show, or the relevant clip, is on RUclips as well--and it's in color.
Why didn't he get a new hat? The one he was wearing is embarrassing.
That's part of the act. The hat was always old and worn,
Ted Lewis "The Best of the Best"
Ted sort of reminds me of the English actor Sir Ralph Richardson (1902-1983)
Wonderful.!!!
He was born 1890
Racist !
Idiot.
So unimaginative, and at this point, meaningless to say.
The first rapper ever
Those days are gone
The Lewis's are the best of the best in show business.
He was a rapper.
Wow, I was born this day.
Is everybody happy 😊
Me and Ted have some things in common for example we were both born on the sixth of June in Circleville. Also we both have Jewish blood in us
WONDERFUL!!
Isn't this who Jiminy Cricket was characterized on?
No, it was Cliff Edward's aka Ukelele Ike who also voiced actively for the Disney Studios.
How did he keep that hat on when it was so crooked?
Nice to see this late in life footage. I have about 50 of his records but this is the first time I saw this. His records were what the Roaring 20 were about, mostly jazzy.
At 77 he certainly didn't change much facially. As a 78 record collector, it's good to see these entertainers in their later years.
Such a gift. Thank you.
1:40 totally sensational act. bravo! more more!
great
Nostalgia with the train and big band era. I think I’ll go.
Rest In Ted Lewis
Is everybody happy !! 😜
Dave Rubinoff was my great grandfather's first cousin, and my grandfather toured with him playing radio shows in the 30s and 40s, My grandfather (Albert Saparoff) became a concertmaster violinist and played with the Harry James Band, was in the MGM Orchestra for 14 years, played 14 academy awards shows during the golden era.. and was concertmaster of the Hollywood Symphony Orchestra. His Joseph Gagliano (1742 - 1820) Violin is now gifted to a new exceptional Chapman Student yearly. I recently found the student who has it, and I was able to hear my grandfather's violin again. I have some newspaper clippings of Dave and my grandfather, the spun it as if the maestro had a new rival... but they were family, 1st cousins once removed. Amazing talented men who helped to pull the country through the depression with their music. :) Thank you for posting this video, Ted Lewis museum :)
Cool story! Thank you for sharing! I met Mrs. Rubinoff many years ago and catalogued the Maestro's orchestra music and even saw his Magic Violin.
On the Sunny Side of the Street! Thank you for an early movie that has the song!
The song is from 1930
I wish y’all could live-stream it!
News on that front coming soon!
For today’s liberal morons, this had nothing to do with racism. I have no doubt that each black entertainer that was offered the chance to do this bit with such a famous man jumped at the great opportunity. He was sharing the stage, and his applause, not to mention his money, with each of them, and it helped their own career, to be able to say that shared the stage with Ted Lewis was noteworthy!
I give this two thumbs up I remember seeing him on Abbott and Costello grab that ghost or catch that ghost.
Hold that ghost, I loved it as a kid
@Gabriel Gomez same here I hope you saw the other Abbott and Costello movies
I bought a huge box set and slowly working through all of them with my two sons
@@GabrielGomez-il1sg good maybe they can learn something about watching old classic movies
I like how he brings up his hometown Circleville. 💜 I can only imagine how my grandmother felt when she heard our towns name on the big screen.
When I first heard one of his records I knew he was my favorite. Just great entertainer.
