I had the honor of meeting General Swartzkoft in Desert Storm. He is an amazing Man. He had his Captain get us coffee. One of the most memorable moments of my life. 101st ABN
I served 21 years in the Army, E1-E-7, then OCS. WITHOUT QUESTION, West Point Officers were by far the absolute best officers that I served with, whether they worked for me or I was their subordinate, they were the best leaders. As a new Lieutenant in Combat, my Company Commander was a 1964 West Point Graduate who taught me so much about real leadership. His officers, NCOs, and soldiers loved him and respected him because he was tough, fair, communicative and caring. I never met a mediocre West Point Officer. I wish I had attended the Academy.
Norman knew what battle, loss and poor planning were, having lived it in Vietnam. His vast intelligence and planning for Kuwait was to make sure that wasn't going to happen when HE had something to say about it. Brilliant man, and a soldier's soldier.
That's one perspective. The other is that he has 30 years of experience and is speaking his mind. I see that he's pointing out some great leader attributes and some great wisdom.
My thoughts 💭 on West Point ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ If I could turn back time 😊 Yes 🙌 I would of became a Officer Would of been a 4 star ⭐️ General by now in the Marine Corps Infantry Unit 3rd Battalion 5th Marines Lima Company 1st Platoon 91-95 Instead I was shamed and put into a platoon full of drug addicts. The only happiness I enjoyed was hanging out with my buddies that were Scout Snipers. So yeah my Military life was ruined 😡 and gave me more P.T.S.D. If given the opportunity to go to West Point now at the age of 50… I would show you what I’m made out of… Semper Fi
When "Bear" Schwarzkopf was a 1 Star, I was the MP Platoon Leader responsible for his physical security...….A TRULY great General.....total bitch to work for...but a great man. Bear. you are missed

Well said.
@ Fortunately I never met one of the bad ones and of course I realize that they do exist.
May I ask what is the name of the 1964 WP CO?

His confidence and drive was most helpful

6:57 oh, so an officer picks his own assignments? Admit that luck is involved. Lucky people don't realize they are lucky.
