I used Tinks 69 and Code Blue together with hot water in a 1 gallon jug - soaked a couple rags in it and works great - not 100% but between Oct 27th - Nov 15th it is really good especially on private land - public is always a bit wishy washy. My biggest was an 11 pointer 227 dressed shot him right next to my doe in heat rags on public. 1st deer with a bow was a 10 pointer came right into it - stayed in stand for less than 2 minutes, shot him at Noon. My brother in law shot a doe that had her nose buried in the scent rag in MN on public. Illinois private land had a huge 12 pointer come in and a doe right to the scent. Shot the doe (didn't see the buck behind a bush). It can work.

John, I enjoyed your Vol. 3 dvd that i just received ! I have my very first ever Scentlok stuff on the way and gonna be totally anal about contamination this year just like you and see how it helps ..... I got 1 rubber gasket airtight tote with 4 locking clamps on each tote at Menards, then found the same one at Walmart a few bucks cheaper and got me another one. Did my first load of regular hunting laundry and got it secured in the scent proof tote. Hunting saddle first year ever as well. Looking to get up higher than my usual 17-20 feet and get in better trees (with a "crotch" to help with cover if possible). That "Ebernary" on the dvd had me laughing my butt off, lol........ and how to stalk a buck in standing corn was awesome and I might try that if I get the right kind of day, I'd recommend this dvd to anybody. Only public land hunting for me and it is getting more and more crowded lately, so i had to step it up a notch this year. Keep your awesome videos coming and thank you !!!
I honestly don't think any of that stuff works, just my opinion. If it did, your local taxidermist would be giving it away free by the gallon just so business would be absolutely blooming. I do enjoy these videos and your opinion on deer hunting.
Pay close attention to the wind when you use those spray cans lmao last year a gust came through just as a sprayed and I hunted all day with face full of doe piss
Whats your thoughts on evercalm John? Sometimes I put a little on my rubber boots and I have had quite a few bucks pass directly under my tree and stop and smell my lower tree steps and then walk off seemingly relaxed and flicking their tail. These weren't monster bucks but alot of 2 1/2 and some 3 1/2 year old bucks. I hunt mid Michigan so in my neck of the woods these are fairly wise deer. As I'm sure you know around here most bucks that size have been shot at maybe a few times lol . Just curious what you thought about it. Thanks and good luck this fall👍
Anything that works concerning not spooking subordinate bucks is irrelevant when pursuing mature bucks and of course the amount of pressure the area you hunt has a lot to do with what deer will or will not accept. EverCalm has a vanilla odor which is foreign to the location. If you are going to use EverCalm you might as well purchase vanilla extract for a small fraction of the cost and cut it with water so it isn't so strong.
Thanks for the reply John these videos are great sources of information and the ability to pick the brains of hunters as knowledgeable as yourself is truly a great asset. Keep up the good work buddy 👍
Love all of you stuff john! But in this case I think u are confusing evercalm with trails end... evercalm is made here in Michigan and is nothing but the odor from the bedding stalls of the deer.. I love the stuff personally.
I thought John must have a better nose than me I can't smell any vanilla in it either. I even opened one up and smelled the hell out of that stick lol. I smell dirt and maybe the slightest hint of urine but I'm not even sure the smell is urine.
The scent of Success is all i use. The scents business is a joke unless your hunting does, fawns, and 1.5yr old bucks. Its in the same category as baiting.
Jon, what about synthetic scents? You know Michigan doesn't permit scents to be sold without a certification from the DNR that it was collected using practices to minimize the spread of CWD. Synthetic scents do not require the certification so they're popping up everywhere. Do they work?
That certification is a joke as well. As I mentioned, I don't use much in the line of commercial scents but depending on where a hunter hunts, they can work. On TV they can do anything and it works and at least 50% of the countries better bow hunters could easily take the same monster bucks if they hunted where Drury's, Kisky's, Lakoski's, etc. or on any of the properties where micro-managed farm raised big bucks are allowed to grow to maturity before one of the few hunters on the huge farms can shoot them.

@@SPIKESLAYER1 Absolutely, as most anything works in those western states with minimal pressure and lots of mature bucks. I'm definitely not saying that a mature buck in a pressured area would never come in to human pee, but I always go by the best percentages and while I've had young antlered bucks come in to human piss back in the 70's when I did it, I had mature bucks spook from it and that's why I abandoned doing it. There is always a chance of having anything work, but if is detrimental more than effective, the practice should be abandoned because opportunities in heavily pressured areas are so far and few between.

There are ALWAYS exceptions to any type of deer hunting technique and you had one of those exceptions and you should feel fortunate for that. I've had many hunters, including myself have does and bucks spook from human urine and as I've mentioned numerous times, I go by percentages and the percentage of time mature deer spook from human urine is greater than when they don't so I don't piss from my trees. I would also assume there are many hunters in heavily pressured areas that have rattled in mature bucks with aggressive large antler sequences as seen on TV, yet I guarantee it spooks bucks more that calling them in and I've seen it actually happen. In deer hunting their is NO, you have to do it this way or you'll never kill a deer!
I think what you’re referring to is that Tinks blends their urine. Meaning what’s bottled isn’t from one doe. Like single barrel vs blended whiskey. That’s different from synthetic. The only reason they sell synthetics is because many states, including the one I hunt, doesn’t allow natural urine.
I represented Tinks in Michigan for 20 years and I know exactly how it's captured and bottled. I've sold tens of thousands of bottles of 69 urine. They do make a synthetic 69 as well but 99% of what is sold has been actual urine. If people knew how it was captured and how long before season it was captured, they would freak out and that's pretty much the same for all big name companies that sell urines..
