I'm not sure if this is just me or if it happens to everyone, but I want to mention that I think skinning a beaver is much easier when it is cool and rigor mortise has long since set in. I heard you mention that you got this beaver the day before -- that's perfect. If I catch a beaver and come home and clean it fresh, floppy and warm, that's the only time when I seem to cut holes in the fur.

Thanks for sharing, often what I'll do is the whole backend then the hide just pulls off the back then work over the shoulders etc.
    Great educational video. Thanks

Cloth glove liners or roping gloves over your latex gives you tons of grip and saves on hands

That's exactly how I skin my beavers except I start my opening cut at the chin and go down. As my daughters would say when they were little. "it's the same alike but different". Great video Scott!

in awhile? been watching you videos for years, never seen you do a skinning video.that's coonious territory... or so I thought. thought youtube had the great 330 a bit afeared? I guess not. sure I heard the tail hit the floor. huh.... only the most nutritious part of the animal. don't watch many Alaskan native videos I see. lower 48 women crave pickles when pregnant. Yukon women crave beaver tail. most all the vitamins and minerals are stored in the tail for hard times. can't provide knowledge if you don't possess it... I guess?
