Hi Rinky, the only downside is that is basic. So once you learn how to sew in 1-2year's time you might want your thread to be automatically cut, threaded, or the backstitch to be automatic. But is not essential is more of a want rather than need functions. So, no there isn't a downside to this machine, and the price is amazing! Check my amazon link for this sewing machine.
