I played in the professional Mexican baseball league in 1999 if my memory is correct, I was 18 and the youngest player in the team they called me up mid season, this one time I was playing first base the hitter got hit and a brawl broke loose, I was 6’1 so I wasnt short but I was 178 pounds, trying to hold some of my teammates back and trying to not get hit by the other teams players, some dudes where so much bigger and stronger than me I felt so small and weak…can’t imagine a MLB brawl and in that era where players where on the juice and huge AF, scary shit
great stuff thanks for posting brings back so much great memories when i was growing up. watching these games and high lites. back when baseball was so great. not like today.
I was watching this game at my grandparents. I was 11 years old and Barry Bonds was my favorite player I was going crazy. They cleared the benches twice that day. The other time is on here too
My favorite fight was when Ron Cey got hit and jawed his way to first and waited to the next bat. Then after grounding out he charged the mound and tackled the pitcher. Perfect tackle too.
4:38 Jose Offerman threatens the pitcher with the bat. In 2007 Offerman would charge the mound with his bat in an Independent game and never play pro ball again.
Being roided up... isn't what causes 'rage'. It's when they come down. Their body has not been able to make any... and it affects the brain for the lack of testosterone. AND... if you don't think they are using it now... your biscuits are not done in the middle.
My theory on why this doesnt happen as much now is literally that the players today are sober. Players back then were always on substances whether it was anabolic roids or pills
@@tricdaddy316 Being roided up... isn't what causes 'rage'. It's when they come down. Their body has not been able to make any... and it affects the brain for the lack of testosterone.
Strawberry with the sucker cheap shot. Classic. Also love the comparison of Kevin Millwood, an all-class pitcher, to Matthew Barnaby, an instigator who could never come up with enough cajones to actually fight his opponents.
That's true. Johnson did throw a slider, right at Lofton's head, 3 times. What the hell was Johnson's problem? The "Big Unit", who is as tall as a radio tower, is one of many reasons why the designated hitter should be removed.
I remember growing up and watching Sheffield and he was one of the scariest guys in the mlb. He had that crazy look in his eyes and always seemed to be pissed off.
Thanks for this vídeo bro ,i was looking for this vídeo always ,Félix - the cat - Martínez used to play for My baseball team in winter league .águilas cibaeñas ⚾🇩🇴⚾🇩🇴 .thanks
@@davidcook2172 And you don’t think guys are taking today? They’re just finding sneakier ways around it and with better masking agents. 😂 Players are still being caught, but usually it’s minor leaguers without the resources that are available to the multi-millionaire big leaguers.
@@alwillk Imagine if they had done the trade with the Expos for Pedro at the end of '97. Asking price was Bartolo Colon and Jaret Wright. They knocked it back because they thought at the time that Jaret Wright was their next big ace. Fair enough, given Wright had just pitched an excellent Game 7 in that year's World Series. They also had a deal in place with Seattle for their disgrunted ace, Randy Johnson, before the 98 trade deadline but Seattle knocked it back in favour of the deal with the Astros. Good thing too, the players Cleveland offered up were rubbish. Whether or not either player would have committed long term to Cleveland is debatable...they weren't exactly in a position to write big cheques to secure big names.
And that was his point. If you attempt to throw a breaking pitch and you slip, you have no control of what happens next. If it hangs over the plate, it gets hammered into the bleachers. In this case, it flattened Lofton. Shit happens.
The opening brawl voiced by the late great Stuart Scott!
Gosh how I miss that man. Every time I hear his voice I go back to what was a really great time in my life.
That dude could really catch a football with his hands, boo-yah!
RIP Stuart Scott I used to watch him on ESPN since '01.
Rest in peace Stuart Scott I also used to watch him on ESPN sports center
BOOYAH 🙌⚾️🏀🏈 RIP Stu
5:03 bro suckerpunched and tried to run away and got bulldozed by the entire team
DAMN STRAIGHT. THIS WAS ONLY 25 YEARS AGO.
“It was a slider! If I wanted to hit you I’d throw the fastball!”
That’s just good logic right there
And then to make his point he actually does throw the fastball at his head next chance he gets 😂
He's already killed a bird with a fastball. He could definitely do that to a human being if he wanted to 😂.
@@kevinstull8552there's always that one smart ass who brings up the bird like it's sacred knowledge that nobody else has.
Allan Mills CLOCKED Strawberry...
"I went to a baseball game and a Jerry Springer Show broke out"
The 1998 MLB Season became the Jerry Springer Show!
All the roid rage
Yankees fucking steam rolled the League...
Yeah we watched the video and heard the guy say that too. Nice try though.
The way Darren dreifort dodged that left hook from Andres was insane, I can watch that on repeat
dude from the rockies did too thankfully lol
That Terry Collins is always in the Jackpot.
6:30 "Lloyd McClendon ejected" A sign of things to come 😂

I love these old school fights! All pro sports were great during this era
They should just let them fight. Give entertainment for the fans.
Not if you were a Red Sox fan or cubs
When Men were Men
MLB NBA NFL WWF we had it all growing up.
You don't see this type of intensity anymore. I miss it haha
Love this video. Thank you for putting it together. Great work.
These are good, but doesn’t even come close to Braves-Padres in 1984…3 bench clearing brawls, 17 ejections, 5 fans arrested…in 1 game…AWESOME!!!
CHAMP SUMMERS!
lol
For a fast guy, Lofton sure "charged" Randy Johnson awfully slow.
Would you charge a freak of nature that stood around 9 feet tall and could throw a baseball about 100 mph?
great stuff thanks for posting brings back so much great memories when i was growing up. watching these games and high lites. back when baseball was so great. not like today.
These highlights are great, I remember some of these
I still can't believe those Mariners teams never won a World Series, they were loaded with talent.
Mariners was overhyped
Not enough has been made of the solid contact Alan Mills made with Darryl Strawberry's head
This is why pitchers should have to face fastballs, too.
Steinbrenner was laughing inside at that brawl and thought of Billy Martin.
How do you know?
1990's baseball was fantastic too say the least
Man I loved 90s baseball
A single hockey fight lands more punches than this entire baseball video
Strawberry was always trying to get in there to throw a punch. That 80's crack cocaine was more potent than 90's roid rage 🤣
Great compilation!
This was the glory days of baseball, one of them at least. Bring it back who cares
Bring back collisions at the plate
Hell yes. I'm all for more brawls and bean ball rivalries
MLB needs to bring back the home plate collisions and clearing of the benches. That’s what made the game great.
You notice how Daryl Strawberry is always involved somehow?
It's true. Like, the opening one. Randy throws at Lofton, in come the bullpens and, somehow, Darryl Strawberry! Lol.
@Mr. Giggles I always assumed he was clean in 97 and 98 and then fell off the wagon
About that life
My man's ducking that punch tho 7:20😂😂
That was insane
The big cat almost took his head off
6:34 I see this was pre-PEDs for Barry Bonds.
Barry Bonds charging the mound is hilarious... he's the LAST player I'd ever imagine charging the mound for any reason, ever
Hey if he s mad he s mad
I never knew he did til now lol
I was watching this game at my grandparents. I was 11 years old and Barry Bonds was my favorite player I was going crazy. They cleared the benches twice that day. The other time is on here too
He did a couple of times I believe
7:30 oh the sweet 90s references...
My favorite fight was when Ron Cey got hit and jawed his way to first and waited to the next bat. Then after grounding out he charged the mound and tackled the pitcher. Perfect tackle too.
When Sportscenter was about scores and highlights. Miss those days
They're all marxist activists now
I know, I hate being able to see scores and highlights instantly at any time on any device.

7:20 one of the coldest dodges ever
As an old soul person for 1998, these brawls are hilarious 🤣🤣🤣
I was only 11 in 98 but I used to love the fights back then. They don't get after it like used too. Everybody over reacts now if something happens.

I must have seen the Orioles/Yankees donnybrook a hundred times, never saw Mills coldcock Strawberry after Strawberry suckered an Oriole.
I remember seeing it when it originally happened backnin the daybbut most videos on RUclips don't show it.
“I will avenge my brother!”
The only time Bonds ever charged the mound during his illustrious career
He actually did against the Cubs as well can't find it anywhere tho
Ahhh....when it was baseball.
Problem with rushing the mound is the pitcher is probably 6-4,6-6,6-8. Not the smartest thing to take on the Unit.
Plus they have uphill advantage
Because he's tall?
One shot to his unit...he'll shorten.
A couple of fights from a Red Sox-Indians game are missing.
