First Tipp….you do Not have to reach down so Deep for playing the bass 2. tilt the cajon at a small angle to the back whilst sitting on it to Shorten the way for your arms
You can try it but then you have to play with your heel instead of the front of the foot. I don´t like that personally. And don´t forget to change the beater to a soft one!
He James! Good question. I sometimes use the sides of the Cajon, but the best is hitting the front plate in the area above or around where the beater hits the wood. You can play around with the tightness of the brushes for some other sounds. Have fun exploring!
My dad's bandmate played cajon and he had a pair of congos. You can use those but with the cost of having the weight increased and thus having worse portability.
Nice work but... Cajon is a percussion not a drums and the way to play it is different. If you want to transform cajon to a drum set, then is better to play directly on a drum set...
@@willpriormusic I tried it once. It looks good because it has a direct connection but it doesn't feel very strong. The De Gregorio is stronger built and in my opinion will last longer. So if you can mis the extra money you should buy the De Gregorio.
Live and for recordings I always put a bass drum mic right in front of the hole in the back. That gives the bass some nice low frequencies. In front a directional microphone for the snare and bells. Sometimes a overhead mic for the room sounds. I like it when I have some choices while mixing.
Absolutely awesome! Makes the Cajon a whole new instrument for me. Can’t wait to buy all the gadgets to make my own set. Thanks for the inspiration!!
Great video man - love the setup. Thanks for sharing.
I am not a drummer but I love your setup. This is cool man, keep it up. Greetings from Papua New Guinea 🇵🇬🤘🏾
Wow this is perfect! Exactly the set up I need!
Cool, experimenting with my cajon and guitar
Very creative indeed! Love to see how u'd use a cowbell.
Geweldig 🙌🏻
Great stuff
I like it
Respect!!!!

Super👌👌👌👏👏
Would the base pedal, not give you a more bass tone, if it was lower down
Yes it does! I play with it around all the time. Even at live shows I change the sound depending on the song.
What cajon pedal is this?
De Gregorio. I tried all the pedals and this is the best. You can buy it here:

Is is possible to use standart double bass pedal fo cajon?

What do you do for toms?

No need to flip the heck stick only to play it by brushes? 🙂 Works in normal position for me as well.
That is also possible. But after a while my wrist starts to hurt so I turned it around. It feels a little more like a hihat this way for me.
All it needs is a crazy jam at the END. Pwease lol
You are making a whole lot of sense cos you are savinga whole lot of bother and space and expense! 😂
Haha thanks! As a drummer space is always a hassle. Happy you like it
now only missing a Crash
You can use a small splash maybe!
I had a foot ride. Worked great and added sparkle to my guitar.

Or…music is art and people can create and do what they want with it
That wouldn’t be transforming a cajon into a drum kit, it would be playing a drum kit.
He will be arrested by the music police soon, no worries. 😂
Thanks for the video. Please continue to do whatever you like to do.
Except it sounds great
*HOW/WHERE CAN I GET ONE OF THOSE CAJÓN PEDALS?!?*
There is a link in the description of the video where I bought it. It still works very good to this day.

@@davedrumss Hi there, did you try the Millenium CP-777 cajon pedal? If so how did it compare?

Thanks mate. Appreciate it.
Cool. Sounds great. How do you mic it ? Just a an ambient room mic I suppose?
