- This is my impression of the 7 hour war event which happened before half life 2, its not finished though just fragments put together to clear up things so I can work on another project...

And for those asking about the nature of the Combine, I'll give a brief explanation.
The term "Combine" refers to Combine inter-dimensional empire. No one FOR SURE who the "actual Combine" are. We don't know for certain who actually runs the empire. But the highest level entities we've seen so far are the "Combine Advisers". These large, grubby, mysterious creatures are called "advisers" as part of the illusion that Earth is still under human control (as if they are supposed to be advisers to Breen). They are really in command of the forces we've seen so far.
Now, the way the empire works is like this: once they've conquered a new world, they consume the planet's resources. To assist them with controlling/exploiting the new planet, they take some of the planet's species, and modify them with their own technology, and sometimes some of the planet's own technology. In this way, they create new soldiers and engineers that are specifically suited for that planet.
These part biological part machine entities are called "synths". (On Earth, the human synths are called "transhuman". They include Combine Soldiers and Stalkers.) If they are deemed particularly useful, they may be assimilated into the Combine's military, and used to help conquer the next world. Thus, pretty much all of the Combine forces you see (minus the purely mechanical ones) are the artificial descendants of previous victims of the Combine.
Now, a lot of people here don't seem to understand the relationship between the Combine and Xen and the Nihilanth. According to one of the writers of Half Life and Half Life 2, Xen was sort of a refuge from the Combine. The Nihilanth was a leader of his original world, which was invaded by the Combine. He escaped to Xen, which was some kind of special property that made it hard to reach or hard to see. The Nihilanth supposedly was partially transformed by the Combine (hence his scars). He then ruled Xen, and had enslaved the Vortiguants (they are supposedly one of the species transported from the Nihilanth's homeworld to Xen). If you listen carefully to the Vortigaunts' dialogue from Half Life 2, and pay attention to their collars in Half Life 1, you can see that they were actually slaves to the Nihilanth. (They later become slaves of the Combine)
Xen was described as a inter-dimensional bottleneck. The Nihilanth had his back against the wall, hiding from the Combine. But when Earth connected to Xen, the Nihilanth invaded, seeing a chance to enter a dimension unknown to the Combine. Gordon Freeman defeated the Nihilanth, but the portal storms on Earth drew the attention of the Combine, who then were able to invade Earth.
That's the sum of what we know (and some of this is based on material said by the writers, but never explicitly confirmed in the games).
MY personal theory is that, just like the enemy in Half Life was really just trying to survive against a more powerful, unseen enemy, the Combine might also be fighting another inter-dimensional Empire that we haven't seen. They are colonizing Earth to help their war effort, the the fact that they're at war would mean their resources were stretched thin. This could explain why they bother to use non-synth police on Earth and have relatively few war machines on the planet now that it is occupied. Perhaps they are saving resources for a bigger fight.
And who is the G-man? Well, in my theory, he could be an agent of this unseen enemy empire that is fighting the Combine. He says he has employers, but humans seem to only be pawns to him. And he surely doesn't work for the Combine, since he has helped the humans fight them.
The Combine are at war with everyone, they're an empire.

Mister Babadook True, but please note that, for example, the Russian and German empires were never at war with everyone. The same can go with the Chinese, Romans, British, French, etc. However, you could argue that the Mongol and Persian empires were basically at war with everyone.

What are you talking about? All of those empires have gone through more wars than the Combine. Why do you think Russia is so big today? Same goes with China, Mongolia, and Iran. The others are smaller now due to their downfall at the hands of other, larger empires.

Tell me about it, Overwatch soldiers ARE BRAINWASHED HUMANS, in the 7 hour war, they had no humans to convert, good job using synth soldiers!
qbmax32 In all technicalities, they aren't just brainwashed. In addition to the brainwashing (which is extensive as to remove all emotional things as well), they have a vo-coder implanted into their larynx (so they sound the same, with or without their helmets), their frontal lobe is removed or at least decreased in size, their skin in turned to a bleachish color, and some of their organs are replaced with mechanical ones.

Overwatch soldiers (blue eyes) are brainwashed, civil protection (white uniform) can have minor or no brainwashing. So yeah.
It looks actually pretty good. It's not perfect but it looks like you've put a lot of effort into creating the scenes.

So far, the best video about the 7 hour war. The first one I found without seeing any transhuman soldier used as the combine infranty. The synth soldiers seem to be much better a choice for that role.

^ Overwatch Soldiers were used in the 7th hour, due to the fact that they captured some humans in the first hours, converted them and then deployed them in the 7th.
Overwatch Soldier im kinda late but where do you get that info from? I tried to search on wikis but found nothing. Or perhaps youre making it up?
@Overwatch Soldier// the conflict was so brief there would be no time to find, capture and then also augment and brainwash suitable humans even if they wanted to, especially since at the time the Combine most likely didn't know anything about human anatomy, also especially since the process of creating Overwatch Soldiers would take possibly hours, if not days.

No one said these are supposed to be combine planes.
In the Half-Life lore it's said Earth was being attacked by Xen creatures before the 7 hours war, so I think this is what we see at the begining. Also, I'd like to point out that the manta doesn't attack anything, it just tries to escape.

Er those were not combine, it was the xen aliens left over from black mesa.
If you look in the sky during the attack on Black Mesa East, you can see manta-looking creatures flying above. It makes sense the combine would assimilate them and repurpose them as attack aircraft, like they did with the gunships.
This was spectacular! I'm SO glad to see no transhumance forces. Lore-accurate!

In HL2 you fight Overwatch. Whats the diffrence? Well, Overwatch are slightly modified humans, which had thier free will taken away. 7H troops were either synths, aliens or both. They also had better equipment, synths, vehicles etc.
Also, not everyone on Earth had HEV (Almost no one for HEV) or other advanced armor.
So, yeah. Thats why we lost.

The Combine dictatorship isn't very well managed, given how a rag-tag group of the natives managed to overthrow their rule, despite the Combine having greatly superior firepower and forces. This along with a sizable resistance operating almost openly outside of CIty-17, with deep covert operations within the city itself. The Combine doesn't seem to be able, or willing, to eradicate it before it got strong enough to fight back. I've come up with a few possible explanations for this, it could be one or more of these:
-The Combine Empire is crumbling, they can't afford to send more resources to a planet as small and unimportant as Earth, so they're only given to a handful of synths and use Earth tech to build their garrison, with the initial invasion force leaving to fight other wars.
-interdimensional travel is very difficult or costly, and establishing a superior government would be impractical, this is supported, again, by the extensive use of technology pre-existing on Earth.
-The local authority is so incompetent they didn't even notice that the Resistance was strong enough, or didn't see them as a threat
-invading Earth was just a detour because the portals were already there and did not need to be generated, so the planet doesn't mean all that much to the Combine.

That's because the Combine didn't consider them a threat, and gordon is an OP physics defying scientist that was under support of Game engines and endless supply of Health crates. if they felt the need to completely destroy them, than yeah they would.
No need to try to point out their mistakes, they're absolutely very competent by owning many Universes and shiting on other empires faces.
Well, the Combine only lost one leader who was a puppet anyway, and beyond City 17 there's a whole planet still controlled and managed by the Combine.
I think the first one is kind of right. They aren't crumbling; they have conquered multiple galaxies and planets, allowing endless resources. They conquered Earth thinking they were just like all the other beings they conquered. But the Combine were wrong, and this led to the resistance forming. The Combine grew restless, and weren't giving too many troops. The Combine were losing interest in Earth and saw how useless they were, considering how much resistance they put up. If it weren't for Breen, Earth would've just been destroyed completely.

The problem with the Cremator being there is they weren't combat, they were exterminators for the Bull Squids and other aliens. Also, the Cremators wouldn't have been in the 7 Hour War because they were made from child labor after the war.

Raikato The thing about the invasion force the Universal Union used for Earth is it was mostly synthetic. Robots, in a more simple term, but with organic compounds, but not quite Cyborgs, they are usually 3/4ths robot and 1/4th organic. Those creepy things jumping out of the dropship, those were the predecessors to Combine Soldiers, or in the unofficial canon of HL2RP, Overwatch Transhuman-Arm. I believe another name for those things was Soldier Synths, if I'm not mistaken. Striders, Gunships, Dropships, Crab synths, mortar synths, soldier synths and probably elite soldier synths were all used in the 7H War. And to answer your second sentence, they definitely are not the original, the combine wouldn't waste their own species on a regular old planet, no. It was most probably a foreign alien civilization, but modified just like combine soldiers to do the UU's bidding. Sick, right?

Phoenix Cool The synths are more like bio-mechanically weaponized species, a bit like Zerg from StarCraft. The UU take a strong species they've conquered, genetically re-engineer them for combat (or scouting or whatever), and have weapons and mechanical parts grafted into them while still developing.
So they're sort of organic robots, designed and grown/built for a single purpose, instead of just modifying existing creatures.

As The Stalker and Sammy Whiteley said, Combine has more powerful tech than Earth's tech, and Combine on earth is just like a garrison. The other Combine forces left Earth after Earth surrenders, Combine on Earth is a garrison of billions. But in HL2 Ep 2, it looks that the last portal storm is shutted down. Means that Combine and Xen forces will never come, again. But there are still alot of Combines, so now Combines is just like refugees and rebels. Alot of small bases, but alot of troops and. I hope in HL3, Rebels and millitary forces from the whole world unites. And their mission is to exterminate the last Combine forces from Earth. And so, the ending finished with Earth rebuilding the world back. We can't just let humans be extinct in HL3...

You missed the fact that after conquering Earth almost all of the Combine invasion forces were send to other worlds and that most of the CMB units stationing on our planet are transhuman soldiers, CPs and some sort of other-worldly outlaws.
AND don't forget that the guy with a crowbar you mentioned barelly did any damage to the Union. Hell, he only started the uprising, Combines destroyed their C17 Citadel themselves :|

For the record, the Combine likely would not have had transhuman synths during the war because they hadn't developed them yet. The ones depicted here are "Combine Synth Elite Soldiers", which, according to Half Life 2: Raising the Bar, are part human and part alien synths.
It's likely that there was no Combine "infantry" during the 7 hour war.
Synth are 0% human.
Also, they probably had infantry, they just probably didn't have pulse rifles/any firearms ever.
+Mister Babadook AR2s are standard Combine design... the only Combine original weapon (I believe) in Half Life that can be handheld.

I regret fighting this war
Just a quick breakdown here.
In half life 2, it takes:
1 shotgun round to take out a soldier,
Less than half a clip of SMG to take out a soldier,
5 rpg rounds to take out a strider or gunship, helicopter, or dropship,
and only a few rounds of revolver ammo to take down soldiers.
With more advanced military technology we have, HOW THE FUCK DID WE LOSE THE WAR? Were the soldiers like movie bad guys who can't hit their target? We lost the war to soldiers who DIE at the FIRST shotgun shot!!
the combine, the aliens in here, had pulse rifles, no shotguns. Also, those soldiers seen here are probably the regular guys. The soldiers dispatched to black mesa were the hazardous enviorment combat unit (HECU), which is why they held out better, they were trained to expect stuff like this. The normal military, however, was not. Besides, the combine had enslaved entire planets, so their numbers could be quickly replenished, like gunships, as they had slaves to do it. We here, on the other hand, dont make fighter jets and helicopters with slaves. The jets can also cost in millions to produce. And people dont work for free, even during an invasion
Most of the enemies that we fight in HL2 are Trans-Human Soldiers, Striders, and a few air vehicles. The Combine that fought in the 7 Hour War are x10 more powerful then the ones currently on Earth and pulled out once Earth was overran.
The combine had unhumanoid synths and mechs during the real war
Combine are arguably even more powerful than the reapers from Mass Effect series, and it takes only one Reaper to destroy a whole planet. Combines attacked Earth with multiple citadels/vessels which are comparable to Reapers in terms of power.
(I compare those two universes to give you a better picture of the situation, hope you've played or atleast know anything about ME :3)
Having that being said, id like to see a video of the combine vs the mass effect reapers. Although with some 7 hour war units for the combine, not just striders and gunships.

This is not a trailer, this is the full thing
It needs a lot of work but despite the limitations of SFM and the ancient Source engine, well done. The song you used in the middle would be a good way to continue as it builds up rather well. I also suggest looking out for the Opposing Force 2 files when that mod releases and see about using those assets with their permission.

Maybe Half Life 3 would be set before and after Half Life 2 , maybe some important events like dropping nuke on Black Mesa , how resonance cascade is effected on the world , Seven Hour War , maybe some eastern-southern Europe village full of zombies (similar to Ravenholm) , Tokyo , New York , Moscow , and many other places and events that can reveal some questions like: Who is G-man , What happened to Andrian Sheperd , is Gordon Freeman alive , would they travel in dimension of Race X to kill them , would they visit Aperture Science etc.

Somewhat correct, the events of half life one caused a portal storm which ended making antlions and headcrabs and vortigaunts etc. teleport into existence, due to the dangerous life of living outside of generally populated areas. Nearly all humans moved to the cities. Then there was a FIVE YEAR period between the first portal storms and the invasion of the combine through citadels. What the combine did when they invaded was teleport their citadels directly into the cities, and since most humans and military were there already they were all killed, the combine took what was left of the soldiers and turned them into part of the combine military force.

Everything about this seemed pretty correct compared to other 7HW animations. From the human jets destroying flying synths due to superior computerized weapons as opposed to line-of-sight weapons to the Combine synths mobilizing in large groups, slaughtering any human militaries in the city.

The one thing I'd think about how the war went down was that whilst us humans are pretty skilled in or combatant prestige, the Combine could outlast 6x the human Population as of 2011. the combine have an almost infinite amount of possible species that they could send out to war with earth, and even though they might not have as much battle skill as humans... they are a much, much bigger force. We have more, uh... organic materials as of war, which would probably penetrate alien armor or shields, as most "Galactic" weaponry is much more artificial, matter created out of mostly no where. whilst our weaponry is physical, bullets, shells, being loaded into our guns and vehicles right from the start. However, the reason it was a 7 Hour war was because the combine probably just overloaded the human armies with way too many "Soldiers". (i say "soldiers" with air quotes because they're aliens, not much soldier in that.)

To those doubting Earth's loss, do know that the Combine encompasses territory between dimensions and universes. That puts the Galactic Empire to shame. Also, the cities were where most of humanity resided due tot he threat of Xen aliens coming through portal storms, so the Combine only focused on cities which made he invasion extremely easy.
