I think part of the success was the young, attractive cast. Not sure it would continue to be hit with older characters. Louis XIV lived to 77 years of age.

Really love the dynamics of the relationships between him, Chevalier and Palatine as they relate to each other. I like Palatine so much more than I thought I would. Kim Chie - I spent a month in Paris a few years ago, and spent a day at Versailles. It was so overwhelming! The pictures and films don’t come close to portraying the grandeur, the gold, the size of it all. To walk the halls, and see the hall of Mirrors just was incredible. Of course, now they have the ropes and signs because Humans can’t control themselves in the middle of a treasure like this, so that took away from it a little, but not much. And then to go out and see the gardens!! I wanted to cry when I walked out there. Knowing the history of it, I had to sit down and put it all into a perspective, but I wouldn’t have missed any of it for the world.
I ended it last Friday, now I've a strange feeling of emptyness at 23 pm, I miss them so much 😞😞 I just think that Fabien deserved a better end for his character 🤷🏻♀️
I can’t believe that the series of Versailles will not continue. Versailles is full of beauty, intrigue and history. The casting is superb. In my mind I lived in the Palace of Versailles. I became a voyeur into their intriguing lives. I’ve visited the Palace of Versailles in the early 1970s. Watching this brought so many memories back of a one in a lifetime experience. I found myself saying I saw that, I was there or I sat at that fountain. Thank you for also bringing back all the wonderful memories of my journey there and helping me to remember that time in my life. Versailles and all the cast members you will be dearly missed by me. Thank you for the splendor.
I really hope the wig person got an Emmy! The most gorgeous show to watch go by, and the dynamics of Phillpe, Palatine, and Chevallier are so amazing. So funny, sweet, and poignant at the same time. I know, I learnt very little of them at school. I love Alexander Vlahos as Philippe and I have now several biographies of Louis but only one of Philippe ( alas) as all the rest are in French and I am crap at french! But it does shoe you that Philippe is still highly regarded in his own country and he and Chevalier are now gay icon's due to the series!
I just can't find any of the actors to choose as a favorite just to show how phenomenal they were Phillipe was great I'm devastated it's over I think we all should petition for a continuation can't see why they stop such a run away hit after three seasons it should continue for another four seasons I may just have to settle for watching it all over.🖤💜❤️💙

Mary Honey - they look like those cute guys that pop in the back door and go find out if you have leftovers, baked a cake, and have tea made. When they decide how hungry they are, the kiss you on the cheek, promise to visit later (and return your bowl!) and that they love you. In 10 minutes, they blow in and out, and you know you have such a treasure with them!
I just finished it a few days ago. Loved the show though season 3 finale left me a little cold. Wish it would get a revival if only to give Marchal & Co. a proper send-off.

In fictional pieces you can do whatever you want. That’s how gay men had to be throughout history especially royals. You married for duty and loved others outside of your marriage. Prince Phillipe was allowed to be more open about his sexuality than your average person of the time because he was the kings little brother. Women got theirs too it just held a greater taboo than a man seeking love relations outside of marriage and some women simply chose not to pursue others.
I don't think she's talking about homosexual women in particular but about women maybe being for example mere emotional collateral damage in these storylines
Fourth season dealing with revolution would have been great. Show very expensive to produce; 3 countries helped fund production for 3 seasons. So thank you to everyone who made it possible. Enjoy very much.
My wife and I are currently watching this tv series on Netflix, such a shame the 4th season was cancelled but all and all as I read in an interview king Louis life after the events of the show was sort of uninteresting, but God damn I love the cast, they definitely did king Louis and everyone of these historical personalities justice, we're planning a trip to Paris and Versailles soon.
