Where is Armenia getting the $$$ for such weapon purchases? Its not a very big economy. However, good to know that its arch enemies will get bloodied if they mess with Armenia.
Armenia for 2023 had a $1.3 billion defense budget. And for 2024 already allocated $1.5 billion. Pashinyan said somewhere last year that Armenia will spend $12 billions over the next 10 years just for new gear. Armenian diaspora is also huge around the world. And relatively rich. That helps as well.
Armenia is a very rich country with extremely rich diaspora around the world.
Not considering russia still owes us $400million worth of military equipment

It is the most powerful 155mm gun in the world, which is the most used caliber artillery in war. Here powerful means shooting range of a standard BB round, of which the ATAGS’s is over 48km.
So in a modern warfare sense it is the most powerful artillery gun in the world.
Im still not sold on the logic of deploying stationary Artillery systems along the borders...They are seriously vulnerable.
At a predetermined time and place, they will deliver a large barrage/volley of shots/rounds and then packup and leave immediately. But still mechanized is much better, I agree.
That's why air defence is important and they are working on it. Don't just see ATAGS as an individual system. It will work in synergy with other systems and air defence.

Serbia has already developed a 155 mm/52-calibre with 25 litre chamber. Even the 23 litre chamber has a range of 56km rounds and the 25 litre has 67km range with using the HE-V-LAP rounds. So sorry the ATAGS is not anything special.
Sorry you’re absolutely wrong. The 25 litre chamber thing is irrelevant as the range is what matters but anyway let me tell you Serbias Yugoimport only developed the 25 litre chamber recently around the same time as the ATAGS (2018-2019) so it’s still relevant to say when it was released it was the only gun to have it.
Second coming to range which is the most important thing you answered your own question.
The ranges you stated are V LAP round ranges thus misleading people with the numbers. The range for a standard BB round in the 23 litre is 33.5km and the 25litre is 41km compared to the ATAGS 48km 😂
Besides South Africa’s G6 23l and 25l can shoot the same V LAP round at 58 and 76km respectively more than serbias 😂
India is developing a V LAP round specifically for this artillery saying they’re claiming it’s for 60+ range but it’s probably over 75+km range given this guns standard round range of 48km.
So yes, IT IS SPECIAL. 😂
