You can actually etch on stainless steel after coating the surface with mustard (or possibly vinegar--haven't tried it yet). My uncoated stainless steel attempt (with just a 5w laser) also caused smooth metal discoloration but the mustard coating actually created a rough surface.
You'd have to run a speed and power grid. I really don't know. XTool has some suggested settings on their website. www.xtool.com/pages/material-settings

I am having trouble dialing in cut settings for 5mm poplar. I have tried various material tests from etsy and the powerscale feature in lightburn and every time i think I have it dialed in and cut something it doesn't cut evenly. Any advice?
It almost sounds like your surface isn't level. Make sure to level your cutting surface. I have inadvertently had something under one of the sides of my honeycomb and messed up cuts because of it.
Same.. I am having trouble finding the correct setting to get the cut all the way through the poplar. Any advice?
Great videos! Do you recall where you got that Darth Vader design? It's super cool.
I think I just googled Star Wars mandala

@@BuildDadBuild Thanks for the reply, Dad. I found the image. For anyone else looking, search for "Star Wars Aztec Calendar" and you'll find a few different designs!
@@EndoBaggins Crap. It is Aztec Calendar. Sorry about that, I had mandala on the brain!
LOL
