Loved Season 2. Loved the show. As much as I liked Sopranos, the Wire was the best show on television. The Wire is an American story for the contemporary era and it is also for all times.
I think Ziggy was kind of a street level version of Fredo from the Godfather. He should have never been in that life but he found himself there. He was weak, everyone knew he was weak but he still wanted more responsibility. As for Nick, his role in 'The Wire' is probably a lot more realistic than most people understand. A lot of the guys out there with packages really are people like him. They don't even consider themselves drug dealers because they may have other jobs or a business. But they flip packages and make a profit with guys they feel they can trust a bit.
The sad thing about Zig is that he did have computer skills and could've made it in another way, but he didn't want that -- the docks and his pop's respect was all he wanted, but like you said he wasn't built for it.
When Nick told Ziggy "Just stay at home and watch cartoons, let me handle this for the both of us", he ruined cartoons for Ziggy forever. Ziggy will always associate staying at home watching cartoons with shame and resentment, instead of contentment. Every line in this show is brilliant.
'Are you going to tell him?' kind of look imo. Funny how that little look shows how much concern people had around 9/11 that it made a crook turn honest for a second.

The best season of the show by far. Captures the slow demise of the american working class perfectly.
