I dated a Laotian man back in 2009 and had the very rare privilege to eat this dish (except instead of buffalo, it was pig). Let me tell you, that bile is SOMETHING ELSE, and the fact that Sonny was able to really get it down really says something. It is a very strong, pungent taste and nothing you can ever prepare yourself for except just going in and eating it, lol. I really admire Sonny's ability to try new dishes, no matter how terrifying they may be!

I noticed that many people commenting about coronavirus. I have to say that the rumor that chinese people eating wildlife such as bats caused the propagation of cornavirus isn't true. How the virus transmits is still a mystery. It might have many ways to enter the human world, such as contaminating domestic animals without the farmers even noticing that it's happening. Like the case of the Nipah virus. We Chinese DON'T EAT BATS or basically all the food showed in this video. Eating raw food is not what we like. And as a Chinese I have to say that 99% of the population don't eat wildlifes. Those who wanna try all have to do this in the dark, as it is forbidden to sell wildlife in the markets. Now China is on its way to establish a new law to completely ban all transactions of wildlifes or animals originated in the wild but domestically cultivated for economic purposes. China is a big country and we have abundant resources, so wildlife has never been a major part of the food source. Especially now China has economically developed and people don't have to go out of their ways to find food. We don't eat worms, lizards. Some people in Sichuan eat rabbits (so as in France where I currently live), and some villagers in the south might eat snakes but it's not normally what they eat for meals. And I am very sure that only a small proportion of individuals in China eat cats or dogs. And they can't do that openly like in this video, as this behavior is normally condemned by the majority of Chinese. Not a single person I know in my life eat what you westerners called weird and unusual food, or cats and dogs. What they eat here in Thailand is not common in China at all. The poop soup is definitely something we don't eat.

I'm from the north of Thailand. I love Northern food. I can eat the raw buffalo meat but these 2 are the exceptions for me... I would never ever try them. I respect you a lot for your appreciation of our culture.
Some foods like fresh fish and beef are okay raw but things like chicken and pig especially when raised in factory farms or in third world countries are huuuuge carriers of some pretty nasty diseases and parasites.

I noticed that many people commenting about coronavirus. I have to say that the rumor that chinese people eating wildlife such as bats caused the propagation of cornavirus isn't true. How the virus transmits is still a mystery. It might have many ways to enter the human world, such as contaminating domestic animals without the farmers even noticing that it's happening. Like the case of the Nipah virus. We Chinese DON'T EAT BATS or basically all the food showed in this video. Eating raw food is not what we like. And as a Chinese I have to say that 99% of the population don't eat wildlifes. Those who wanna try all have to do this in the dark, as it is forbidden to sell wildlife in the markets. Now China is on its way to establish a new law to completely ban all transactions of wildlifes or animals originated in the wild but domestically cultivated for economic purposes.
China is a big country and we have abundant resources, so wildlife has never been a major part of the food source. Especially now China has economically developed and people don't have to go out of their ways to find food. We don't eat worms, lizards. Some people in Sichuan eat rabbits (so as in France where I currently live), and some villagers in the south might eat snakes but it's not normally what they eat for meals. And I am very sure that only a small proportion of individuals in China eat cats or dogs. And they can't do that openly like in this video, as this behavior is normally condemned by the majority of Chinese. Not a single person I know in my life eat what you westerners called weird and unusual food, or cats and dogs. What they eat here in Thailand is not common in China at all. The poop soup is definitely something we don't eat.
