Wrong wrap actually comes from a few different glitches from the original super Mario bros. For example, the background of the song comes from the infamous famicom version of the -1 world glitch, another example is that the small fire Mario seen in the song comes from a glitch that occurs if Mario touches the axe while being hit by bowser at the same time. Also a bit of a neat fact is that MX was supposed to be in the original funk mix deluxe but was scrapped for a few different reasons before eventually being added in as an expansion.

Did not expect a video on this criminally underrated mod! I believe the Wrong Warp song is a reference to a glitch in SMB1 where you clip through bricks at the pipe at the end of 1-2 to travel to world -1. Everything is very glitchy like the Peach in the corner of the song just being placed randomly around the level in the original game. Just thought I should add this info here. This mod is so damn good and you've done another underrated mod justice!
Expanding on this:
Mario in this level is based on a glitch in the original Super Mario Bros. that happens if Mario touches an axe at the end of a castle level while being hit at the same time. He'll start the next level as Super Mario, and is able to collect a mushroom to "power-up" to Small Mario. He can then collect a Fire Flower to turn into Small Fire Mario; because Small Mario never had any proper frames for shooting fireballs made for him, he temporarily grows in size when one is shot in this state.
Also the Minus World depicated here is from the Famicom Disk System rerelease of Super Mario Bros., where it is a glitchy version of World 1-3. The version of the Minus World seen in the original release is an endless version of World 7-2 that has the pipe at the end spit Mario back out at the start of the level if entered.
Also expanding on this! The version of the Minus World with the pink platforms and peaches floating around, forgive me if I'm wrong, is exclusive to the Famicom Disk System release! 😇
At 1:42 you said that Wario was introduced in Mario Tennis, but he was actually introduced in Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins. You also said that Wrong Warping was due to cartridge tilting at 5:23, when it's just a glitch that occurs when you slide through the wall at the end of 1-2 and enter a pipe. Love these videos, just fixing some errors!
Worded it weird, I meant he was introduced as Warios brother in Mario Tennis 64 lmao.

5:22 The stage itself is probably a reference to the Minus World in the Famicom Disk System version of Super Mario Bros., since when you go to it in that version instead of going into an endlessly looping 7-2 you go to a version of 1-3 but underwater with the underwater level color palette. The weird looking Princess Peach in the bottom left corner also references this version of the Minus World as she appears in this version of the Minus World as well.
5:24 it's actually a reference to World 32-1 (or world -1 because 32 is a blank tile), specifically the Famicom version

Since the glitch used to access the Minus World in SMB is called "Wrong Warp" and the environment seen in the song (discoloured tree sprite, floating peach with sky coloured eyes) is a Minus World level, it's pretty likely that it's a reference to the well-known glitch.

Love your mod and the inclusion of some of the obscure characters.
Another fun detail about First Level :) is that it's not limited to a color palette. The colors appear more vibrant to show it's on a more advanced console and everything in the song casts a shadow on the background, a signature sign of a level being from Mario Maker.
How you enter to Wrong warp is reference to -1 world. it can be done by no-clip'd by bricks in 1-2 and entering a 1st pipe (it works because the chunk that load's correct warps is not touched so load's level from garbage data(and it's different on the region) Fact : The -1 world it's actually 36-1, it look's like it because it's a empty sprite

Wrong Warp is actually a reference to the Minus World glitches found in OG Mario Bros, with the stage being based on World -1 from the Famicom release, this can be done by clipping past the last brick blocks in 1-2 which will cause the game to bug out and think the warp zone is from 4-2, since the center warp pipe takes you to World 5, taking any other pipe will result in being sent to the Minus World, an extremely buggy level or series of levels dependent on the version, with the NES release being an endless version of the water level in World 3 and the Famicom release being 3 levels long and beating all three would count as beating the game.

The glitched leve is actually supposed to be the minus world if I'm correct.
The mx gameover song isn't offical for the mod and is instead a reamagine of a scrapped song in funk mix that was removed because of it not fitting too well.
Also mari0bot made mx and his world while me and pn_cherrys coded the original demo.
The game was also not a .exe game and wasn't a parallel to the sonic.exe game. Instead is a creepypasta game about a completely diffrent entity not related to exe

5:11 that is actually Minus World reference, and small Fire Mario is a glitch on it's own. I won't explain in detail here because you can Definitely find better explanations on RUclips
Fun fact, during the vs MX in the SMB funk mix if you look in the options to change keybinds and other preferences Mario is a bit darker on the options due to that being “Fake hero” (Yes it’s the canon name by early form of MX)
5:14 I don't know too much about mario games as i've always been a sonic guy myself, but i do know that wrong warp is as far as i can tell, not a cartridge tilting thing, but instead i believe is "world -1" i forgot the exact steps to cause this in the game, but it went something like this:
go to the end of 1-2, you could make a VERY precise jump through the blocks in between the pipe and the warp zone, glitch into the warp area without loading any of the warp zone text, enter any pipe, and your brought to "world -1" which is a never ending water level, you can get to a pipe at the end of the level but it brings you back to the start, there for making it never ending, from there you had to do something specific to get out, (cant remember what) and you would be send to basically a copy of 1-3 but the sprites are all out of place, it was another water level ,and there is this random peach sprite floating mid air, which is how i knew what this level actually was.
something that wasnt mentioned in number 8 is the mario your up against is actually another reference to a mario glitch known simply as "small fire mario" which i remember basically nothing about other than you had to get a fire flower ready to grab, take damage at nearly the exact same time, and it would give small mario the fire flower color palette

Fun Fact: The reason how the airship is the Mario 1 style is because the airship is a theme in Mario Maker( also 2 and 3Ds).
The wrong warp is actually a reference to the Japanese world -1. The opponent is small fire Mario. He originates from a glitch that can be done in most castle levels, it allows you to use fire balls with the small Mario sprite. You also still retain the properties of regular fire Mario, such as Red/white pallet and 2 hits.

wrong warp is more of a reference to the negative world glitch in world 1-2 of the original mario bros, it's indicated by the wrong colour palette, and the small fire mario in his idle pose is another glitch having small mario with fire mario's palette

2. as far as im aware, im fairly sure mario looks like that in portal power because i think the colors are based on mari0_bot character because they did the sprites for the smb funk mix mod
