🐬 recreational diver here. I looked up the numbers for the US and it's wild. Around 3 million Americans are certified divers while there are only about 4,500 commercial divers, so commercial divers are about .15% of all divers; only about 10% of commercial divers are sat divers - let's say there are 450 total. That means that out of the diving population in the US only .015% of people are saturation divers, and of the entire US population it's only .00013473%. That said, I do have a few watches with helium valves, and though I know I'll never need it, it's cool to have.
At least the price has increased with an increase in what they are offering unlike every other brand increasing prices for the same product with no updates whatsoever.
For the non-English amoung you, "Bader" is a famous English WW2 pilot. Despite a serious pre-war accident in which he lost both his legs, he returned to the RAF in time for WW2 and scored around 30 kills before he was shot down and taken prisoner. He lost one of his prosthetics while bailing out and had a replacement dropped to him by the RAF in a bombing attack on a nearby Greman airfield !! He made repeated attempts to escape and was transferred to the imfamous Colditz camp for "troublesome" PoWs.. Douglas Bader was quite a guy.
He was also an absolute world-class arsehole. Read Ben Macintyre's Colditz book if you haven't yet it's really good and covers some of Bader's lowlights.
Just got one (in blue on a bracelet. IRL it looks awesome, not at all plasticy like some of the close up pics on the internet. very happy with my purchase!
I call dibs on it: If you manage not to scratch it, and treat it well, I might buy it from you in a couple of years, for let' s say 35% to 40% of the original purchase price (if I' m generous) . But only if it' s full set and well maintained. Thanks in advance!
Nice one Britt! I’ve had mine for just over one week and I absolutely love it. The bracelet is excellent the legibility is excellent in all lighting conditions. The dial really does live up to its Lumiere name. The COSC Certified movement is bringing me plus 1 -2 seconds a day when I compare it to the atomic clock at the same time every morning. All in all an outstanding package that’s at a great price point from a company that’s clearly on the up and up. Great video keep up the good work. Cheers! 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
For me, this tweaked with a steel case, 5 link steel bracelet (they look Class!) & adding a day/date & sword hands while remaining COSC certified & I’m sold!
I am absolutely smitten with this watch. I was saving for a Pelagos, right up until this was released. Can’t wait to get my hands on the black/grey version.
There’s something deeply understated and cool by the solidity of the colour on the Tudor. I’d love to see the CW with a non-fume dial and different colour ways
Really appreciate this video - and even if there are (as you say) other videos about it, your views are always enjoyable, unpretentious and informative - so thank you for doing it.
🐬I don't wear luxury watches while diving, but I have been diving with my sturdy Seiko sport 5! It feels so cool to look at my analog watch ticking away while under the waves.
🐬 Diver here, never have used the helium release valve on any of the watches I own. I have taken several watches "diving" and many of them snorkeling of course! The Omega Seamaster with it's expanding bracelet and Seiko Monster having the same were easy to wrap over a thin neoprene as I recall. These days, an air integrated dive computer is the watch of choice for most divers but there is something nostalgic about diving with a classic dive watch of course. Reminds me of the good ole days in Hawaii, knowing you had about 20 minutes at depth on a shore-based dive before making your ascent!!
RE: 🐬 The max diving depth for recreational (ie: non-professional) diving is 45m. That’s a *hard* limit. My partner (that Britt has met and has dived to 45m) patted me on the head when I showed the helium escape valve on my Sea Dweller 😅😂
That's not true. For recreational diving the limit is 40m with the proper certification. But there's also technical diving, which is not professional, and you can far exceed that limit if properly trained on trimix and/or heliox gases (and preferably a rebreather). You can go beyond 100m if you're qualified. Gotta say nice choice of dive watch. I own a 116600 myself and absolutely love it.
I think they should also release a Steel version for circa £1250 on the bracelet and about £1000 on a strap. It would sell like hot cakes. But this is because Im not a massive fan of Titanium watches..
I have a C60 atoll as my first watch and I have been consistently amazed when I look down at it. The quality is fantastic and the price was under $1000 which was a big plus. Excited for this movement up the spec food chain and looking forward to my new CW.
Just got it the other day. Surprisingly, it will replace my Hulk and Pepsi as a daily wearer. Don't like having to worry about an expensive watch on my wrist most days but still like a really cool tool. Just ordered their Lunar as well ... really loving this brand and don't want to play the Rolex AD game.
You don't have to play the AD game if you buy pre-owned. Rolex's best models have all been discontinued. The best sub is the 14060M, the best Sea-Dweller is the 116600, the Explorer II is the 16570, the best GMT-Master II is the 16710.
@@jackominty3633 No it’s not silly. Some titanium watches are so light they almost feel plasticy like a toy, some still have some weight to them that’s noticeable. Not everyone loves the feeling of nothing on your wrist and not every TI watch feels the same.
Nice video Britt! Like the look of this watch, but the helium escape valve is a silly touch. I'm only fine with it on the SMP because it's become an iconic feature of that watch. I own several "dive-style" watches, but for diving I wear a G-shock, given how easy it would be to accidentally smash a watch on a busy dive boat or while climbing the ladder in rough seas.
love what CW are doing and as an actual diver love this release - however it DOES give me Squid Game vibes! 😂😂😁😁 - - - (and yes, used the helium escape valve in recompression chambers - we often take new students for a "dry dive" for the experience and to show what a session in the chamber is like if they progress to be Dive Leaders or above and ever have to make that call for divers to go into recompression)
Oh dang... that's a beautiful watch and OMG, that dial... WOW 🤩 And indeed @watchpapi some great macro shots 😉 Don't know if the CW is 'better' than the Tudor but it sure looks way better. This might just be a serious contender for a next addition. Great video Britt, hope you are doing great 🥳
🐬 Recreational sport diver, I never needed/used a HEV. I don't think 99.9% of divers need a HEV. Professional saturation divers are the rare elite of divers.
It's not harmless - it's an ingress point. Just another thing to worry about because sooner or later it will compromise the water reaistance of the watch.
Got the gray one. It’s the knees of the bees. My only complaint is the sharpness of the clasp’s underside. Easy fix with some rough wear or a quick change to a NATO strap.
I agree about the Premiumisation (if it's a word!) @Britt Pearce. The CW model very much reminds me of the airlines. You have a stream of affordable pieces (Economy class) and release premium pieces around these (Business/First class). I think it is smart and because they have a 3x philosophy, which so far they have stuck too, it's the more premium watches that give them that next stage of revenue growth which the more affordable ones can't.
This is an amazing watch, love the blue color, love the micro adjustments on the wristband, love the lumens. Just when I thought I was done adding to my watch collection. I’m pretty sure this one’s getting a spot.
I need to see it in person. When I saw the press release from CW a few weeks ago, I thought the big blocky lumed indices looked like a kids toy watch, but it’s growing on me. The Ti case and bracelet look great.
The thinness and the lume are what i like about it. More brands needs to stay in that 11mm range. The rest of the piece is whatever for me. Oh, also respect to the clasp.
The applied solid lume markers look very "version 1". They just look rough around the edges, unrefined even. I would bet that in a future iteration they do more shaping and polishing to the material to make them look less like something that just came out of a 3D printer. But I also want to give CW massive kudos for making this time-only. I hate when markers get removed for an ugly little date window, and removing one of the big 3D lume pieces would have felt wrong.
It is largely a great design and I think that it’s actually placed in the right price segment. Great specs. The toy-like indices and hands don’t do it for me, however. They detract from an otherwise perfect watch.
That was my assessment and bought a longines instead for my big birthday. I am however wondering whether I did the right thing! The Lumière has grown on me over the past month and I’m wondering how to sneak a purchase of one of these past my wife 😂
A good watch. Have it and love it so far. It has most of the ethusiaist recommended things, bracelet, adjustable clasps, great lume, and a slightly unique design. Definitely an upstream play and I like it! More choice the better.
It’s a phenomenal, well priced offering. Love love love that lume, flashy dial and adjustable clasp. If I was just starting my watch journey into higher priced divers, I would have grabbed this one (but my SMP300 will have to do).
CW definetly is one of the top brands this decade. They really developed themselves a lot the last couple years and I am excited to see what else they will come up with. This one for example in a smaller package would be 👌🏿👌🏿
I've recently began my obsession as a watch collector. And i must say- out of all the luxury brands I've been researching, for me the AMZWATCH's watches are the most intriguing.
It's worth mentioning that the difference between grade 2 and grade 5 titanium is significant. Grade 2 is much softer than 316 stainless, so it will scratch quite a bit. Grade 5, while a premium over SS, is 50% harder..which means you should see far less wear and tear over time. BTW- Tudor uses Grade 2 as well. Grand Seiko uses Grade 5.
I absolutely fell in love with this watch the moment I saw it. I'm still new to the watch scene but this one ticked all my boxes, for an attainable price. I think if I can justify buying this, it would become my Oyster Perpetual, my one watch for the rest of my life. Divers just speak to me, and this one does it all. Who doesn't swell up in the summer?? LOL
I love this watch. I’m in no rush to add to my collection, but I hope I can pick a used one up in a couple of years. Price is a bit high as everyone keeps saying. Good video!
I’ve had quite a few CWs over the years and never been disappointed. They are a full “head choice” as they make complete sense and do everything well for a great price, but for me my bb54 is a heart choice and makes me smile. If I’m honest no Cw ever made me feel like that, other than as a value proposition. Ps the obsession with lume we all have is preposterous if we’re honest; most modern watches are great and so we place greater importance on things like lume and screwed links to try to differentiate or rank them (rather than just saying they’re all good😂)
I have the Christopher Ward titanium Trident Elite 1000 as my daily and despite having owned Rolex, Zenith and Omega divers watches this is my favourite.
I have to say that the CW light catcher case has been killing it in the watch game. I'd want to get more hands on with this new Lumiere because of it's larger size and different clasp adjustment in comparison to the Pelagos 39. With the Pelagos 39 you can do a one handed micro adjust which for me, really takes the cake. Still, the Lumiere is an intriguing offering.
Have just ordered this one: C60 Pro 300 Bronze Patinated leather strap. Looks ace, and is also cosc certified... think I'm going to be happy when it turns up.... ps... I have a Breitling SOH B20 42mm green dial, Omega SMPc 300 (2018) and a new longines HydroConquest 41mm grey sunray dial....... but looking forward to the CW as it's British (with a swiss movement) Think I'm getting addicted lol
Today they announced a collab novelty Desk Diver using a Sellita 200 that starts at the 1.2k USD mark so I don't think they're ready to abandon that lower price part of their market quite yet. I do think it would be smart to maintain that segment of their catalogue, which is mostly every day steel sports watches, while also pushing higher end, more specialized pieces. And I do love the dials on this line but I'd personally prefer it in steel with a finish like their standard Trident line. But I also rarely wear a diver these days so my opinion may not mean a lot here.
Good video Brittany. I hope you and your baby are well. No one talks about the fact that CW only has one store, in Maidenhead otherwise it's mail order only. Like you, I prefer to try one on in a store before I buy. Btw, the indices look a bit plasticy and cheap. The 12 is much classier.
🐬 if you’re a professional saturation diver then a Helium escape valve is going to be used fairly routinely. However, if you’re a recreational diver and you have to use it, it means you messed up and ended up in the pot (re compression chamber)
Something about the height of those tick extrusions and the white are a turn off and give me an impression of cheapness. I realize that's odd but it's just the feeling that strikes me when I see those tall tick markers. I think the watch would be slightly more elegant if those markers were half as tall. As an aside, I am actually a huge fan of dials with depth and 3D features, this one just happens to step out of my preferences. Look, they're so tall they even cast a shadow!
This is sensible money for a great offering, at this price point it certainly challenges the value proposition from the premium brands. CW has maneuvered to cover the bases, listening and acting on consumer insight, and with their improved branding and marketing they are transforming the £800-2000 marketplace. Well done CW. I think I'm actually going to buy one.
🤣🤣 omg I thought this was a commenter who didn’t knoooow I bought a new macro and I thought “omg people can already tell” 🤣🤣 BUT YES! I bought a new macro and I am loving it! About to put your Tank under it!
Its a great alternative to the Tudor matchup. Its a great watch! And i like its looks more than the Tudor. Cant wait to receive my Twelve X later this year!
hi britt! another nice video, thx! IMO CW is a “better” watch, never mind value. re: the movement “in house” doesn’t mean anytime except perhaps greater servicing cost. keep up the good work!
I plan on getting one, but I am concerned about the limited colorways. Just three colors? How about a nice, dark forest/hunter green? Or even red? Great vid, Britt. Keep up the good work, get your rest.
I have a Rolex Sea-Dweller, the SD43, which is like a Submariner for folks with an 8-inch wrist - like me. My one bug-bear is the thickness - and subsequent weight - added to accomodate the stupid level of depth resistance🐬, and the 99.999% redundant Helium Escape Valve 🐬. I would have MUCH preferred an XL Submariner. It used to be my go-to daily wear, but has been replaced by the latest - and largest - Explorer II, which is also great on the larger wrist, but doesn't feel like an anchor.
I both love and hate the mass amount of lume. It looks childish during the day but awesome when fully lumed at night. I also agree that they should have made it in stainless steel case and bracelet to bring the price down. Then maybe done a special limited edition version with a super crisp dial colour and in all titanium.
The SeaQ is my goal watch. But it’s forever away…. This is an amazing piece and hits all the right marks. I do wish it came in 39mm and a deep solid red color… but I’ll need to become king of the watches before my hopes are made into reality. Hahaha
🐬(at the shallow end of recreational). Here's some perspective: most people will never dive. Of those who dive, most aren't professional/commercial divers. Of the commercial divers, most aren't saturation divers. So the relevance of the He escape valve for the diving population is miniscule, let alone for the broader population. (It would be interesting to know how many actual saturation divers wear luxury watches while on their diving operations.)
🐬Deepest safe dive for mere mortals is 110-120' so no, the helium escape valve is just there for show more or less...My Seamaster Ti has one, just adds to the looks which is fine by me...good review BTW, it's a cool watch, need a GMT version of it.
I was going to get a pelagos fxd or lhd but this came along....... just in time. Got the black... very subtle dial shade change. No tudor slabsidedness here.... its much more elegant anslim. A win
@davidb9531. This is a much better all rounder. Slender, more sophisticated looking , goes deeper. Bracelet. Better lume , twice the watch at half the price imo. Ch also do much 🎉more design with much less branding. BTW, I've owned 3 tudors and still have 1 in my collection
We have crossed the inflection point with movements. It’s fair to expect a watch over $2000 to have longer power reserve and magnetic resistance. Both are reasonable expectations considering most major European brands do provide that, especially in today’s environment with magnetic field everywhere. Preowned BB58 is slightly more expensive but has longer warranty (remaining) and much better movement, and retention (looks and value). Also Oris with the 400 movements, Longines’, even Certina titanium….
Hey Britt! Cheers from Brazil! Caipirinhaaaas! I’m wondering if that grade 2 titanium makes noise, because this is so annoying to me. I love you Britt!!!!!
My only CW is the Atoll (original fixed bezel model) out of the 5 watches I own, it gets praise from people who see it (people who aren't watch savy at all & others into watches) I love the new bezel on this watch-but unsure about sooooo much lume, the 'light catcher' Atol hands also just pop in sunlight- but the lume is great on the original watch also. Personally never been deeper than 10M's in the sea, snorkeling with harpoon gun hunting for my tea when I was a teenager. Still the Celest I keep looking at on their website though.
What I always find odd is how every premium model, from every brand, ever, apparently needs to be the biggest possible case size. Excepting the 36ti, everything else remotely premium drops in 41mm+. I'd have expected CW of all brands to get that that's been a big part of the the mainstream brands' product strategy misalignment from what customers value.

Or even worse. The "C.Ward". It looked liked it said Coward.
This move only deserves +25% to the price)
'cept now all they got is that goofy looking logo designed by a first grader.

CW definetly is one of the top brands this decade. They really developed themselves a lot the last couple years and I am excited to see what else they will come up with. This one for example in a smaller package would be 👌🏿👌🏿
No Trident hits me hard like this one I just neeeeed monehhhhh
Gah! It’s so good!
Ahhh money. Always the greatest obstacle between me and the watches I love 🤣
I’ve loved CW ever since I got my C65 Trident GMT. Felt a lot more expensive than its price point!
its great that U are back :))
I love the logo didn’t like the first one with letters I can’t decide with blue or orange
LOL
I don't know who buys watches at retail but I thank you so I can get it at 1/2 the price once you grow tired of it
I love this watch. I’m in no rush to add to my collection, but I hope I can pick a used one up in a couple of years. Price is a bit high as everyone keeps saying. Good video!
Brilliant video britt
Ahh thank you so much! It was so great having this one in!
I have the C60 bumblebee and I love it !
finally … waiting this review from you !!!
An amazing video britt
You are stunning with incredible attitude. Thanks for a very informative and entertaining review.
Absolutely eye-catching
This is sensible money for a great offering, at this price point it certainly challenges the value proposition from the premium brands. CW has maneuvered to cover the bases, listening and acting on consumer insight, and with their improved branding and marketing they are transforming the £800-2000 marketplace. Well done CW. I think I'm actually going to buy one.
Would love to see a review of the new Fears jump hour! It's a collaboration between fears and Cristopher Ward!
Your videography is tip top BP ❤ new macro lens???
I guess we know who shot this video 😂
@@JW_Haze she’s a star! I can’t believe how quickly her videography has got so good!!!

Its a great alternative to the Tudor matchup. Its a great watch! And i like its looks more than the Tudor.
Cant wait to receive my Twelve X later this year!
hi britt!
another nice video, thx!
IMO CW is a “better”
watch, never mind value.
re: the movement “in house” doesn’t mean anytime except perhaps greater servicing cost. keep up the good work!
I plan on getting one, but I am concerned about the limited colorways. Just three colors? How about a nice, dark forest/hunter green? Or even red?
Great vid, Britt. Keep up the good work, get your rest.
I freaking loved this release and I like a lot the watch. Have to get one
CW also had their moon phase watch come out around the Bel Canto and 12.
Then maybe done a special limited edition version with a super crisp dial colour and in all titanium.
love your channel !
The SeaQ is my goal watch. But it’s forever away…. This is an amazing piece and hits all the right marks. I do wish it came in 39mm and a deep solid red color… but I’ll need to become king of the watches before my hopes are made into reality. Hahaha
I'd love this watch without the Skelton hands. Full Globolight hands would give the watch superb readability and clarity.
🐬 I have dived with my NTTD Seamaster down to 30 metres serveral times and never needed the valve to open
Man you wouldn’t have needed the valve even if you dived to 130m for that matter, saturation diving is a different thing all together
@@valebliz I am fully aware of that , I’ve been diving since 1983 lol
@@Paul_F_Cyour initial comment betrayed your experience in that case
I want this watch so much...
Diver of over 30 years. Never needed a helium escape valve. I’ve done a handful of decompression dives, still no need for helium release.
Great specs and nice movement upgrade. I have the #Tide and a Lympstone and both are great. You are right CW is moving up.
looking at them side by side, the fit of the bracelet to the case, isnt a patch on the tudor
I have this watch and for the price its as good as any Tudor black bay or pelagos. very comfortable and looks quality
A win
The fxd blows this out of the water, no slab sides and a proper tool watch
@davidb9531. This is a much better all rounder. Slender, more sophisticated looking , goes deeper. Bracelet. Better lume , twice the watch at half the price imo. Ch also do much 🎉more design with much less branding. BTW, I've owned 3 tudors and still have 1 in my collection
@@vonyp6018 fair play if you think that, that fume looks cheap as chips, and the whole package reeks of trying to hard but heyho
There is no slabiness on the FXD unless you have a skinny wrist of course

I just pre-ordered one in orange a couple of days ago. Release in late October. Thanks for the timely review.
🦭desk diver here.... Thought about using the He valve in case of an water cooler emergency 😅
Technically scuba certified and I've never been diving a single time after my certification dive.
What I always find odd is how every premium model, from every brand, ever, apparently needs to be the biggest possible case size.
Excepting the 36ti, everything else remotely premium drops in 41mm+. I'd have expected CW of all brands to get that that's been a big part of the the mainstream brands' product strategy misalignment from what customers value.
what you are not getting though is the brand name. It still cant compete with that
You’re spot on as always.
