god im 25 now and i used to play this emulated on my uncle's computer, this is bringing back so many memories. from the music, to the sprites, and remembering how satisfying it was so hit a bunch of dudes at once with an aeo attack, and sometimes items in the background. good times.
I was afraid to play it as a kid
Proud owner of this one, and the original one on SFC, and yes I'm a guy who watches Sailor Moon (took me over 20 years to finally watch the subbed version, with the original Japanese voice actresses). Sadly the Mega Drive one is far too expensive, maybe one day.
Bloodreign1 I enjoyed watching the Anime from Start to finish including the movies but i never played the Games.
I recommend playing this one, the original one on SFC, the Mega Drive one, and the arcade one from Gazelle if you emulate games. They are good beat em ups, though they can get repetitive with enemy designs. They are also almost all 2 player, save for the Mega Drive one (why couldn't it be 2 player, no one knows).
Schlauchi is a bit wrong on this one, I find it just as good, if not a little better than the MD game (though they are based on different seasons of the show). Nothing beats playing as Chibi-Usa, she takes more damage, but a lot of enemy attacks miss her, but she can dish out damage without fear of taking as many hits herself.
You know that from 5:26 to 10:33 it takes place during Christmas just like a another great beat'em up game for the snes Batman Returns.

The intro was amazing, then after that I get treated by a painfully slow paced fighter with the most unfitting music ever (that still works for it)
Compared to the first SFC game, this one is pretty fast, though a bit shorter on stages (but takes just as long to finish as the MD game and original SFC game).
I have to agree the music is sometimes very ill-fitting

If Konami did this Sailor Moon game, then they would have included Black Lady and Wiseman as two very awesome bosses near the end of the game.

@@Aninha_RbdCara isso é muito easy, só baixar o SNES, procurar Sailor Moon R SNES ROM e baixar, eu mesmo jogo no celular, mas ainda sim é melhor jogar no PC.
The game has some good ideas and improvements compared to the 1st game, but the slow player + some enemies who are just unfairly annoying + some filler phases + still that TERRIBLE HITBOXES make this game just less good than the 1st one

Genre of game, belt scrolling beat em up, Usagi had no choice but to start kicking some bad guy ass.
This game was entertaining.
You could deck Rubeus, Sapphire and Diamandin the face with Makoto or Rei. How satisfying is that ? ; )

I'm an SNES fanboy and have no problem admitting that the Mega Drive version by MaBa is absolutely superior to this one.
You'd be wrong, the MD one is one player only, a major no no for a beat em up (ask Final Fight SNES about that major sin). There's a lot wrong with the MD version, including enemies having priority with hitboxes, being able to hit you, before you can even hit them. RUclips doesn't allow links anymore, but myself a few other members of the Shmups forum discussed the MD game, and the 2SFC beat em ups, the general consensus is the MD version is the worst of the 3 home belt scrolling beat em ups, the first SFC one in the middle and SM R being the top of the heap. There's more issues with the MD version, but I'd have to dig through that forum to find the thread where it was discussed, it was also discussed in a thread that now has almost 300 pages, and the chat about it is long buried somewhere in that thread too. The game in this video also gives you the priority to throw enemies into each other, damaging them them, and the first SFC Sailor Moon has some pretty nifty attacks.
You don't have to be a fanboy of anything to play all 3, and see the MD game getting heaps of praise, despite being the worst playing of the 3 home console beat em ups. Something tells me you haven't played all 3 of them, the 2 SFC games I own, the only reason I have never gone after the MD one to play on a console, that $200+ price tag it commands, another absolute no no for a game that not only is NOT rare, but it also not that great either.
Sorry bud, but the MD version is not the best one, whoever told you that, lied to you. The between stage bumper to introduce the levels on the MD version is the background for Sailor Moon R, despite the MD game being based off of the first season, and not the second season, a major goof. The play mechanics of the MD game are also a bit janky, with bosses and enemies that have i-frames, something seen in fighting games, but not good on a beat em up.

Buy a Super Famicom, and buy the game cartridge. All can be had for under $100 on eBay.

OneEyedDragonParty Aye, its like the sailor senshi arrive in the world of Thumbelina and proceed to beat the living shit out of everyone XD I agree the music could be more fast-paced. But for what it is, I find the SNES/Super Famicom SM beat-em ups to be fairly solid, despite the enemies being kind of cheap at times.
Hell... I remember having this game back in time. It was awful. However manga an anime were all the rage back then so It was easy to get rid of it...
