I just love this game I have it on a emulator it is awesome just in the first stage of the game you are smashing jeeps and telephone boothes and throw bad guys out of the window of the elevator shaft down to there deaths wow Sailor Moon is just as much a badass as the Michael Keaton Batman from Batman 89 and Batman Returns and she fights clowns too just like Batman and I also beaten the hidden final stage with the help of cheat codes of course and this game is beyond AWESOME!!!
Then you didn't play the MD game, as it has no co-op at all as it is a 1 player game only. You either played the SFC one, or Sailor Moon R, also on SFC, they both have co-op mode.

Aesthetically perhaps, overall design, no. It is a nice looking game, with some good music, but it plays not so good. When enemies can attack you before you can attack them, and they possess no weapons, that's a big problem.

this was 12 years ago. damn! You know there's a cheat with sailormoon and mars. You can stun lock the bosses by grabbing them and then hitting the attack button twice, pause, wait for the grab animation to refresh, then hit the attack button twice again... rinse, repeat. i remember that i love using mars because of it,. It wont work with the others though.

If you want to pay the $200 price for acopy,there are converters which will allow you toplay the game in a PAL MD withoutissue asthis game is not region locked outside of cart size. In the US we had Game Genie, which works wonders as a region bypass device. The few games that are region locked for the MD, have Game Genie codes that can be entered to bypass the lock.
where's co-op i mean isn't it fun to play beat em ups with a friend and besides you play as 5 sailors anyway so why left out something that is completely common for all the beat em ups even snes version has 2 player co-op so why left it out? :/
Ask Arc System Works, they developed this game, yet left out the best feature in belt scroller beat em ups, co-op mode. There was no excuse either, as the 3 Streets of Rage games all have co-op in them.

This version lacks 2 player mode, a big error on Arc System Works part. I think perhaps the game may have been rushed out, but have found no evidence of this.

I have the 2 SFC beat em ups (original and R, love this anime), I want this one too, but sadly it is too expensive these days.
