    I’m so sorry to say, I lost my best friend to suicide from Valium withdrawal syndrome recently. I know he watched your videos and so did I, trying to help him. I just want anyone going through this to know, get help, don’t let it get on top of you. For anyone connected to someone withdrawing, be there for them. Comfort them. Recognise this is serious and real. I’ll never replace him. To anyone on benzo, taper. My friend didn’t. I’ve not been through it, but if I can provide any help from our dreadful experience, comment and I’ll do my best. Love to all.

    • @RaferJeffersonIII

      I don’t know. He just said he saw the videos. I saw him Saturday and was supposed to see him Sunday as he said he needed support and didn’t want to be alone. (Although he was with his parents) I got drunk Saturday night and cancelled as I had a hangover, but we agreed to do accupincture and meet again and I spoke to him for 2 hours online. The next day he did it.
      I may never forgive myself for not going to see him. But in my mind we were on a long term plan and one missed appointment and chatting online instead didn’t seem like it would trigger him to do it. His last message was how having someone there helps. I didn’t respond, got distracted, and texted the next day to invite him to meet. By that time he was dead. I don’t know why I’m telling this but it’s killing me. Hopefully the pain I’m in might help stop someone considering doing this from doing it, because the grief from suicide is unparalleled.
      My last messages to him were about god and spirituality, I was trying to give him a positive perspective, that there’s meaning to his life etc. So I also wonder whether that was a bad move to a suicidal man.
      Just don’t know why he didn’t just call me, text me, if it was so bad. He knew I was there, just his last words to me were how he needed someone with him. He had said this before, I had 9 months of speaking to him about this kind of thing, so I didn’t think it was indicating imminent suicide. I just thought I’d hook up with him tomorrow....if only I’d known, I would have spent all night with him. But then what when I had to be with my wife and child? I couldn’t be there all the time.
      It’s becoming clear I need therapy I think!

      @@RaferJeffersonIII it's not your fault man dont blame yourself. You cant always be there, and you tried to be a support. Sometimes people get pulled into the darkness and there's nothing we can do. Sorry you gotta go through this but you gotta stay positive for his memory.

      sixslow thanks man. It was very fresh and new when I wrote that but I’ve started to see perspective now and I appreciate your comments. The main thing now is I can’t believe this garbage is prescribed to so many people. Surely giving something which can lead people into a world of pain and eventually suicide shouldn’t be prescribed to treat mild anxiety. The Valium he took was bought abroad, but it was doctors here which first gave it to him. This seems like a cover up and a scandal.

    I've seen most of your videos. I hadn't watched any benzo videos for the last 8 months because I had finally turned a corner and went a whole five weeks without any sxs then the they slowly creeped back in - everything you've described but more - I had a lot of neck pain, stabbing pain in my brain - in the same two spots on either side - never both together - months on one side,,, goes away, then months on the other side (ct/mri was done twice), now it's just occasional stabbing pain right top - like a pulse of pain,,,if it repeats over and over, I go into complete panic for several hours. Anyway, it starts after I eat, although today, it started the minute I woke - internal akathisia, strange sensations on my skin, numbness and icy/burning dendritic shaped sensations in my extremities, the creepy crawly ants up the back of my head - that particular sensation used to appear when I was either going into a wave or out of a wave - even though I can''t say my windows were quite that...they were fraught with sxs especially as the day wore on. I CAN'T believe the suffering I've endured and still endure at 48.5 months off. I only took ativan occasionally for insomnia - never more than 40 mg a year but developed anxiety, heart palps, etc and was told to take the ativan for that. It took almost ten years and forced on multiple psych meds to address my increasing anxiety, then full blown panic disorder. I had to do my own research to figure out what was wrong with me. 18 visits to the ER over the past 4 years...I thought I pancreatitis, brain anneuysms, heart attach, etc...I'm old and I used to enjoy my wine and multi drugged for a while so I think those are the reasons I'm taking so long to heal. I've tried different diets, supplements, yoga, osteo, accupunture, massage, physio, mindful meditation in groups and hours and hours on my own listening to youtube. I definitely turned a corner but its not over and the fear of death is ever present. Oh and I had stomach issues since my first pregnancy but they got way worse at one year off the drug..worse again at two years off,,, and feeling just a bit better there now... but horrid benzo belly.. I'm on a ppi for gerd - for 25 years now - I can't go more than 30 hours without a dose. take care. I hope your pain doesn't last as long as mine,

    • @McStorch0
      @McStorch0 5 лет назад

      aileen fulgens research ppi’s. Going off of them can be hard because they cause rebound reflux symptoms. But, if you can slowly taper off them, maybe use Tagamet as needed to get off you can get off them. I don’t have gerd but was put on them by an ignorant dr. I got off them in benzo wd. It took a few weeks. It feels like you have super gerd but you don’t. It’s just rebound reflux.

    Hi, I am still tapering but just got over a major kidney stone attack. Omg, I thought it was just benzo withdrawal but the pain was unbelievable. Taking antibiotic for a UTI as well. I can tell you that at one point when I was not even in benzo withdrawal, I was in a hurricane with loss of home due to large tree falling on it and was under extreme stress. Well, that brought on serious stomach issues and gerd. Had my gallbladder taken out because everything I ate tore my stomach up and had had gerd real bad. After that everything calmed down. So, not sure if that could be your issue or not. Stress really plays a huge huge role in all this ! Hope you feel better soon

  • @Kimmm1984

    Very good of you to say that you stomach issues are unrelated!! I think the benzo trap is thinking everything is benzo related and that nothing can be done about it. It's the curse that comes with this syndrome I believe, it makes you feel even worse. Histamine intollerance can cause depression, anxiety, anxiety attacks, a lot of GI issues, itching, rashes. So this could be a good reason for some of your complaints, I've been dealing with it as well. The itching is very bad at times. So do get things checked out when you go to benzo withdrawal, don't listen to the people who tell you all is benzo withdrawal. I have health anxiety as well after everything that happened and all the info I've read. I'm following a diet from dr Brooke Goldner, which is amazing for me. Maybe it could help you ad well, you could adjust it to low histamine. Best of luck to you 😘 btw: nettle can give histamine issues for some, quercetine is helpful for some (for me as well).

    Can relate in so many ways. Alcohol abuse, leaky gut. I can see the anxiety in your eyes. That is because your brain sensed an excess of GABA from the benzos and told some of your GABA receptors to down regulate. Take away the benzos and the GABA levels return to normal but some or many receptors have been atrophied or flattened. So the reverse of dampening the brain central nervous system occurs, which is why you have the waves and on and off anxiety levels. I would take 1000 mg of L-theanine for bad waves, but I understand they work like benzos so save that natural plant protein for emergencies only. I can't nip the bottle, which does provide relief, because that is an all or nothing issue for me. Maybe you can relate. What has helped me most is exercise and Buddhist style meditation and acupuncture. My mother tried to raise me Catholic, 12 years of Catholic school and subsequent PTSD made me distrust and despise x-tians in general. Buddhism has helped me in so many ways. Less suicidal, less depressed about being 50 something (to those who are young, enjoy every day of your youth while you still can. Trust me. I never thought I would be one of the ones who experienced a loss of hormones, I was Mr testosterone until the last 10 years or so). Leaky gut syndrome. There are good and bad bacteria in your stomach and intestines. What happens when people take antibiotic when they get a cold or flu (which is downright stupid, as bacteria do not touch viruses), or even when they take them for a legitimate reason, the friendly bacteria get killed along with the bad. The yeast organism then proliferates and they grow these little branch like structures called hyphae that can penetrate your gastro-intestinal mucosa allowing undigested proteins and toxins to enter directly into your bloodstream (like tree roots penetrating cement, if you will). That would explain some of your trouble focusing, retaining information, headaches, mental aberrations, itching, histamine levels, abdominal pain, etc. The yeast and subsequent leaky gut will cause you some problems with your bowels. I highly doubt if Rifaxin will cure that issue. I had some of those problems resulting from a leaky gut, so bad my toe nails turned yellow and started to fall off. I have found that taking a special brand of custom made probiotics and avoiding sugar and carbs as much as possible is reversing this. Consuming sugar when you have yeast is like pouring gasoline onto a fire. The yeast organisms thrive and proliferate on sugar. Decades of drinking massive quantities of beer every night was the source of my sugar (alcohol breaks down into sugar). Doctors are reluctant to prescribe drugs like Nizoral or others that treat systemic yeast infections because of the risk for liver damage, so low carb/no sugar diet with Nystatin powder and probiotics will restore balance in your gut and hopefully many of these symptoms will dissipate or go away altogether. This is what has helped me, of course see your doctor before you try anything.

Funny that this practice is still looked at as somewhat "Taboo" as this used to be a standard practice which was included in the "Merck Manual". Both during and after my taper I have often times suffered from severe constipation "This has helped a great deal". Those who are concerned or worried about getting "Reved Up" might want to initially just start with distilled water and then very slowly add coffee from there.
