Although the swr is still on the line in between the tuner and antenna the tuner has provided a conjugate match where reactances cancel each other out also correcting the phase of the voltage and current to allow power to be transferred into antenna, the reflected power is now able to be re reflected at the tuner back to antenna less the loss in the feedline, balanced feeder is best used in this situation with little loss, although if a low loss coax was used because of reflection gain more of the reflected power would be returning to the antenna
I love my LDG when I first got one for my IC-7300. Eventually I sold it when I when 1000 watts QRO. When I got my IC-705, I picked up the Z-100Plus/IC-705 and it has been wonderful. It will tune a wet noodle. I take it with me when I go to the park or camping. I can throw up anything and get on the air. When I was first looking for an ATU, the ICOM wasn't out yet and it came down to this and the Elecraft T1, but given the Z-100Plus is only $159 US as opposed to $240 the T1, it was an easy choice for me. I'm not knocking the Elecraft T1, but at $80 more expensive and almost never in stock, the smaller size wasn't worth the wait or the added steps you have to do.
Hi Peter. Thanks for the review of the L D G 100 plus tuner. Just bought one from your store last week and very pleased with it. Also very pleased with the ICOM ic705 that I bought last October when they were first lornched. Keep the channel going. 73s de Derrick GW0LJW. 👍👍
Peter, I just stumbled across your channel by chance. I watched quite a few of your videos last night and I would just like to say they are all very well presented and not just for the beginner! Hope you keep this channel going for a long time to come now I have subscribed lol. David GM4GLG
Hi Peter, this is great. I have a LDG Z-11 Pro II and I can't get it to work - I'm wonder if I have the wrong cable. My understanding is that the same cable that works between the LDG and my Yaesu FT-911a should work for the IC-705 but I might be wrong. Would you be able to advice on which cable to use, or is the LGD Z-11 Pro II using a different protocol?
After doing this both ways I find it less clunky to not use the link cable. What’s with the tuner button on the 705 menu? It’s on, it’s off, now it’s on again. Hold it,tap it. It never knows what it wants lol.
I just stumbled across this video. I have an LDG Z100 which I formerly used with an Icom IC7300 with a home brew interface lead. I now have an IC705 and am thinking of using the Z100 with it. Is the 3.5mm jack interface lead a standard stereo 3.5mm audio lead with tip to tip, ring to ring, and sleeve to sleeve connections?

Thanks for showing the inside of it!! And every thing else!! 👨👍
Many thanks.
What's the issue with those two LEDS (SWR and Tuning), why are they set to far back?
Do you know if this tuner has a good performance for an Icom 725 radio?
Thanks from EA1IFS
Will this work with my yaesu ft710 with a 3.5mm to 3.5mm cable

Yes it is.
So, why could you not import this Canadian tuner before?
Thanks for watching the first part.
Thankyou a very informative video and a thumbs up to ldg
So nice of you 73 Peter
Can you use any 3.5 cable for an interface or is that one "special" for icom?
Yes you can
Would this tune a mag-loop 20M and 40M? Just a beginner so apologies for ignorance.
No a mag loop needs a dedicated tuner. Sorry! Thanks for watching. 73 Peter.
Nice................
Thanks. 73 Peter
Great kit...but don't try and contact them if you have a problem to solve
I had one of their tuners fail and they replaced it straight away, no problems.
