I have started referring evolvejake as “my Fortnite guy” all my buddies are like “bro how do you know that gun got a damage increase by 2 but decreased the fire rate by 1” I always say “I got a guy that tells me every single update no matter how big or small”
Was a new player back in chapter 4 season 1, all the fighting tips and tricks, movement tips, and settings, got me better because of Evolve Jake videos.
I think another tip to keep in mind is to be able to recognize when something is an ai (either npc or a player that is not a real person) Don't try to get preoccupied shooting at them when its not safe, you could expose your position. Try not to pay too much mind to someone else's hired npc, they are usually not great shots, if you spot someone's Artemis or Triage Trooper npc, taking them out from a safe distance is a good play since they can be very helpful to the enemy right before fights start or after them to help heal
I've mentioned this before in Jake's other videos, but I started playing chapter 4 season 2 so I could play with my son. I think that was Mega City. But as a 40 yr old gamer dad, these videos hit the spot for players like me. I get my azz kicked a lot, but I've managed to get about 150 wins over the last year or so. I know it's not a lot, but for a guy at my skill level, I'll take it!!
Very refreshing video! I started playing Fortnite 3 years ago on the switch and Now the PS5 since Christmas. I like your video wasn’t just more info or talk on a very stale season! Instead you gave us a reminder on the way to play in any season. Appreciate it!
Week two of moving over to MnK and it is finally coming together - sort of. And yes, always carry at least one heal and a mobility item. Very rarely do you need three weapons.
Just played my first 3 games with my 8 year old daughter... we got 3rd, 1st and 1st in duo. We moved in crouch mode almost everywhere, people jumping and running around made it super easy to spot people and when we saw others already fighting, we'd sneak up on them and take out all the people fighting.. she got 13 kills in one game 😂 We also moved into the circle before it closed in, this way we were able to pick off people who were running from the circle strait at us.
Great refresher and summary! I've noticed that as I get more confident and comfortable fighting, I've also gotten sloppier. I have been pushing without opening tags, barrel stuffing more and getting into 50/50s, relying on nitro instead of finding cover, etc. Heck, yesterday, I third partied a fight at the bunker near the junkyard by nitroing, leaping off the high cliff next to it (the one Jake is on at 14:11), and sliding right between everyone. Looked super heroic and felt great at the start, but needless to say it did not end well! I need to find that happy medium and get some more VRs.
I haven't played since early 2018. So obviously, much has changed. I've found your analysis and playstyle almost identically matches mine, so this has made jumping into the game feel pretty cozy. I started about a month ago and am around 60 wins? All that aside, I do very much like your video composition style and explanation. You have a subscriber for life, my friend. Thank you.
Fortnite is the only shooter I play and not often. I have decent aim but I really struggle with movement (positioning, crouching, and strafing) and inventory management (swapping guns and using items) during fights. I definitely agree on the point about practicing fighting vs spending the whole game looting and hiding. Some games I’m just fighting AI and it’s so boring but then I die to the first real player I find lol.
I would recommend playing creative maps to help you improve quicker and more effectively. It assures that your always fighting real players and not ai and the time between fights is a lot shorter as opposed to killing ai for 10 minutes, getting killed by a player and loading back into a match.
As a newbie player of this season, thanks so much Jake, I've learnt to do just about most things you have described in this video from watching all of your older videos. I have been playing for a really long time and I didn’t even consider using cover and I’ve hit unreal multiple times on both modes but zero build I never used any of these tips this rlly helps thanks man
Started playing at the beginning of this chapter and I play an hour or two every couple days. I'd say my improvement has been fine but a mistake I've been making recently is dropping at spots that are too isolated and away from all the other players, the other mistake being not knowing where to drop instead and what to do or where to go after the initial drop and getting looted up (even watching the inside the mind videos you do I'm a bit lost on how you decide where to go next.)
I'm right on the cusp of knowing most of this stuff but constantly forgetting to implement it. So this is a super timely watch for me! It's very coherent information too. Started during the avatar update and boy did I miss those cheesey chains when the island got wrecked
Thanks for this video. I'm a little late to it but just started playing last season. Very informative and helpful. I am really enjoying the game and have improved a good bit since I started. Your content has definitely played a part in that.
Been playing since season 9, I started a bit late but I miss the old days. I know people say you don’t miss the game you miss the people you use to play with but I miss the game too lol before they added in first person scopes to ars n stuff it was more fun, calmer and I could actually get wins
Been playing since January of 2022 during Chapter 3 Season 2. Watched this because I am always open to advice on how to improve and I enjoy EvolveJake's videos. I'm 42 and not as fast as these young whippersnapper sweats I'm always up against but I do pretty well when I'm not having to deal with players using OP weapons like MAGNETO'S GAUNTLETS against me. I HATE those MOTHER TRUCKING MAGNETO GAUNTLETS!!!! Anyway, thanks for another video Jake. I gotta go outside and shake my fist in the air and tell some kids to "Get off my lawn!"
The other HUGE downside of using the same type of weapons for multiple item slots is they all are using the same ammo type so you will be diminishing your ammo more swiftly.
I started playing last season right before the Avatar stuff got vaulted. I use cover, especially right peek all the time. I heal mid-fight and reset fights. I still rely too much on "cheese" weapons - starting with waterbending and chains of Hades, and now Fists and car turrets. I do spend a lot of time in Team Rumble and Reload (rather than creative) trying to learn to shoot. It took weeks before I was even slightly competent with a shotgun, but when chains and fists were winning close fights for me, and using a shotgun kept getting me killed, it was hard to bring myself to practice using shotguns in BR. I spend way too much time choosing and grabbing loot after an elimination. I absolutely cannot move and shoot, much less move the way elite players can move. This is by far my biggest weakness.
I played from the beginning in the first season/chapter but then took a big hiatus until Fortnite OG, been loving it since and having a lot more fun, getting wins, etc. Great videos! I did not like the building once the building got crazy and the newer additions with OP weapons and mythic items, not interested in the colllabs etc. Wish I played more over the years!
I have played three rounds so far, in duos with much more experienced friends. Somehow we won all three and now they jokingly say I'm a good luck charm. I have a loading issue where my game doesn't load before everybody gets off the bus so I literally need someone there to push me off the bus XD
Started a few months ago, I was linked one of your videos by a friend, and now I'm subscribed, your advices are really good :) However, this frequent updates thing makes me dislike the game sometimes, because as a casual player, I'm never gonna be high on ranked mode or hyper skilled (I have a few amount of crowed victories during this season, while I think you have several hundreds :p ), and having so much changes is really inconvenient when you're casual and you just play a few games a week. Still, your advices are cool, and the maps you linked earlier this week were good for aim and mobility improvements, though I think I'm reaching my limits 😅
This season is my first time with this game. I am struggling against the magneto gloves and refuse to use them for kills. I'm getting frustrated about it bc it's hard for me to counter the gloves lmao
hiding behind trees or on top of a building and shooting at them between rock throws is good if you dont have nitro speed boost or nitro fists to keep you in the air
I can’t believe the stubbornness of players and magneto gloves. If you see a $100 on the street are you not picking it up? You might not have earned it but you could sure use it. I don’t s arch for them. But when I kill a player carrying them I sure as heck will take them.
@@RenaissanceMan-pg3du well the issue is that it’s way stronger than the normal items. Fizz/ shock and magneto makes it near impossible to counter. The gloves don’t make sound so there’s no way to figure out where they’re coming from unless you actually see the person. The negate the animation for using fists and thus stop you from using them, but also make you use a charge on your fists. They stop movement dead in its tracks, including shocking out. They have explosive damage that deals enough damage to three tap an entire team and because it stops movement it’s hard for the team to reposition. It’s just an item that shouldn’t be in the game as it is.

First off, you rock Jake!! Will you do us a solid and show a split view or pip so we can watch your controller gameplay. Your aim and movement is hard to match and I would enjoy watching.
I started playing in September 2023 to play with my nephew. He prefers building but I played ZB by myself to learn how to aim and move and I prefer it but when we party up we play build mode.

Wait, I finished the video and SOUNDS wasn’t a bullet point. People moving, the different weapon sounds, players falling/falling on you, etc. I purposefully crouch and don’t reload right away when resetting so anyone closely pursuing me or my team has no audio queues to where we are, even though we might be in a bush right next to them.
Bro just wanted to tell you that I suck at this game but I want to play with my son and thanks to your tips I just won my first solo BR. I still kind of suck, but definitely a little less than before…

he probably has the nitro medallion or just used a nitro splash in some scenes. The Nitro effect gives you faster movement speed, infinite sprint, faster reload speed, higher jump, the ability to sprint on water, ability to bash people, and fall damage immunity. Also, a lot of weapons are automatic (shotguns included) that you can just hold down fire and it will shoot at its maximum speed
the quest, Defeat a Dueling Character With a Pistol or Melee Weapon ,, i see no one complaining but i've killed these guys at least 20 times , with the pickaxe and pistols alone. Shoot them to low health and finish with the pistol or pickaxe, the quest remains 0/1. How do you do this quest??
As jaredwagner said - you have to talk to them and accept the duel. Also - you must deal the killing blow, it won't work if the storm finishes them off. Oscar and cerebus are the only characters that duel
Thanks to you all i finally did this quest,, in my years of playing this is the hardest and longest i've had to work on a quest. Even knowing how i still had problems with 3rd party and a real problem killing him to soon before switching to the pistol.
What are these “how to complete quests” videos people always make, go to your quests, read the damn things and do what they say. That’s how you complete them. Don’t need a 17 minute video explaining that shit. Nothing against Jake, tabor, fire monkey, all these clout gobblers do it

the quest, Defeat a Dueling Character With a Pistol or Melee Weapon ,, i see no one complaining but i've killed these guys at least 20 times , with the pickaxe and pistols alone. Shoot them to low health and finish with the pistol or pickaxe, the quest remains 0/1. How do you do this quest??
Did you interact with them and initiate the duel? It doesn't count if you just kill them
As jaredwagner said - you have to talk to them and accept the duel. Also - you must deal the killing blow, it won't work if the storm finishes them off. Oscar and cerebus are the only characters that duel
Well thanks guys/gals, i just got back and will try it later
Thanks to you all i finally did this quest,, in my years of playing this is the hardest and longest i've had to work on a quest. Even knowing how i still had problems with 3rd party and a real problem killing him to soon before switching to the pistol.
Pro tip: this game runs way better on PC than console.
Chapter 2 OG
Youre less exposed peeking from the right because the characters all shoot right handed. If they were shooting left handed itd be the opposite.
4 years i think?
20 days before the start of ch4s4
That's meant to say for you're content.😂
i get 2nd more than anything 😭
Why you dont choose magneto please choose magneto other video
There’s allot of inappropriate bots in the comments! Be careful
What are these “how to complete quests” videos people always make, go to your quests, read the damn things and do what they say. That’s how you complete them. Don’t need a 17 minute video explaining that shit. Nothing against Jake, tabor, fire monkey, all these clout gobblers do it
I dont make videos about that?
Bro didn't even watch a few seconds of the video 💀
Mistake number 1 playing zero build in fortnite its literally called FORTNITE, learn how to build or go play cod
