This channel exists to document unit counters within StarCraft 2. Tya's Unit Tournament features epic battles between units in StarCraft 2, using music from the game's soundtrack. Units are chosen from Protoss, Terran and Zerg forces, or a coop commander such as Raynor, Nova, Artanis, or Kerrigan. Units will independently use their abilities, in a basic way. All units use Legacy of the Void stats, the same units you'd see in SC2 esports controlled by the likes of Serral, Maru, and ByuN. The resource beneath vespene is the unit's cost in the mod I run on the SC2 arcade, Direct Strike. Enjoy! - Игры
I'll be honest, whenever I'm stuck for a thumbnail, I bust out the scourge.
Every time i know who win. 3+k hours SC2.
Yes
Would love to see how many air units of each race are needed to take down the leviathan!
@@AdrenalStorm New idea
it worked on me
That thor without health at the back of the other had me screaming XD
Seriously. Two different Thors they could've taken out in one hit each and then would've won
@@MurasakiTsukimaru Implying they had a Player to do the Micro work.
@@MurasakiTsukimaru problem is also 120 pop vs 400 pop, no idea what was the point of that fight at all.
@@daemok4752 coolness factor
You know what really grinds my gears...?
God that thor fight was hilarious and an excellent example of what a difference luck and positioning has on the outcome. Had it taken one more hit, its full health buddy would have gotten swamped.
That Mutalisk, after watching its parent die, would later become Batalisk. Hunting down the Scourge of the universe in the name of justice.
While Batalisk has a no killing policy, he is fine with inflicting severe physical and emotional trauma, to the point of causing physical and mental disabilities.
@@runtergerutscht4401 hey torture is not killing
Immortals: "Look what they need to mimic a fraction of our power."
Honestly I still thought they were going to win
@@andreschristian2982 so they are win because they are cheaper
Chadmortals
Immortals truly are the parade ground anti-armor unit. It's impressive how much those 100 immortals got done before they were finally got.
20 damage (9001 vs armored)
If the adepts killed the two lower healthed Thor at the end first, I think they would've took that victory
Still, they managed to chew up far more than their own value in Adepts, so even that would have been a rather Pyrrhic victory.
@@Llortnerof
I mean it's definitely a loss either way you look at it when considering resource cost ha
That Battleship vs Void Ray fight was one serious light show 😊
Called all of them, though I must say I was really surprised at how well the Adepts did.
Eh, they were 10 to 1, not sure they faired that well.
If the targeting was slightly better on those adepts the surviving Thor pair would be dead as well
@@shadowpriest2574 Plus you also have to consider the tiers these units are available in; Adepts are a tier one unit at best while Thors are a tier three unit, it's going to be a bit of an unfair skirmish when looking at them that way. Honestly even looking at how units are tiered in SC2 gives me a fucking headache because things were extremely simpler back in SC1 because at most you had four tiers of units such as for example in SC1 for a Zerg player the tier one would be.
Drone
Overlord
Zergling
Hydralisk
tier two would be.
Mutalisk
Scourge
Queen
Infested Marine
tier three would be.
Ultralisk
Defiler
and tier four would be.
Guardian
Devourer
Now SC2 people are proclaiming that there's at least ten different tiers which just doesn't seem accurate and if it is then how is anyone even remotely meant to get a full grasp of the game now a days.
@@cursedhawkins1305 There's only 3 tiers of units in SC2
@@cursedhawkins1305 There is no such thing as a tier system outside zerg because the tech requirements aren’t laid out like that. You can get Thors 5 minutes into the game, but you can’t get ultras right?
T1 is the only really valid tier to label cause basic mineral units are the foundation of each race. After that you can theorize whatever tier list you want cause terran can rush to lategame before even making a third(not that its good to) but zerg takes forever. Protoss units exist in 3 flavours(gateway, ground tech and skytoss) but I wouldn’t but those in tiers cause they’re all very situational.
Game too complicated for this rigid ass system.
150 void rays vs 100 battlecruisers:
_Whoever wins, the framerate loses._
i'll do ya one better, 1000 raptors vs 1000 void rays
That BC vs void ray battle was awesome. It would be nice to have more massive sky battles in the future
lol I like how that first battle just ends.... no one wins, no one loses, it's not even a stalemate, it just... ends...
The Mutalisk wins, it makes it to the end.
@@13g0man there were still 2 scourges tho.
100 immortals show up: "Oh, this'll be cool."
100 Ultras: "Immortals win, hands down."
And 250 roach: "Well, i already said immortals win...."
So, I was wrong, but that was really close for being so absurdly outnumbered and with giant meat shields blocking for the roach.
I want a Tya thumbnail!

This time Protoss units fighting against Terran units was so intense! It was so close!
Terrran rust buckets pulled their weight this time :D
The mountain of Zerg vs Immortals was INSANE
I can see it now:
MVP: Mutalisk (0 kills)
or it can just leave, that works too
The back-and-forth with the Thor/Adept dialogue was actually pretty slick!
No matter how many of these I watch, I'm still like "or you can build 48 carriers" lol
Fight idea: Battlecruisers VS Destroyers - same ratio of units to each other?
Personally I'm just curious how they'll do compared to the void rays here
Well considering the destroyer's split beam does not scale with attack upgrades (and wasn't much to begin with), the results are gonna be way more one-sided than you'd think😬.
@@vahidmoosavian6313 Does it matter? I'm well aware they'll likely not do all that well, all I'm curious about is HOW well they'll do
@@Scarface39212 why mate; if I didn't know better, I'd say I was talking Alarak himself planning to weed out the weak in his forces😈.
(Seriously though, yeah. This is a place for exactly that: the match-up!)
They would not last long as the Voids here, but the lightshow would be even more specular
@@vahidmoosavian6313 it's not much, but 0.5 damage per tick, 2 ticks per second - 1 dps, to 3 targets is still a lot of damage, when you have many many units stacked, and also means decent chance for low hp BCs to die to splitbeam, instead og sitting behind healthier BCs doing damage.
Also the void rays' main beam does the same damage as the destroyer's, just the prismatic beam active that does extra damage.
I'd say there's a decent chance they'll so the same as the void rays, and maybe even better.
These were exceptionally fun clashes to watch. I love close matches and BCs vs voidrays had me on the edge of my seat.
BCs vs Void Rays was a lot closer than i expected. Didn't think Voids were so chonky
Aaaah, the Terran soundtrack. ♥️♥️
watching the Adepts ignore the 1 shot Thor to hit the near full HP one was painful :D
The Adepts would have taken I Think, The thor at the back one hit away from dying was so triggering
I love the mutalisk "noping" out of there at the end
Leviathan vs. Scourge. Mutalisk walks (flies) away as the survivor. Seems legit. 👍🤭
The Adepts were suprising. They were almost gas-efficent, even though they fell way behind on total resources.
The hydras, meanwhile, were terrifying. Zero pays through the nose for the power of flight.
I love the chunky bloody bits that fly from dead Zerg! 😅😅
I will never get over how amazing the Terran music is.

I think watching ultras get pushed all the way to the back of the armies is quickly becoming my favourite thing. It's so funny

My strategy of always picking against the Protoss for your videos still holds up!
Would that 1 muta have been able to take those to trapped scourge though?
i like how the 100 ultras were so outmatched, Tya sent in roaches to make it fair.
Thanks for the video!
can you do a video with the preistoric units??? like the tyrannozord
that was too many damn roaches
Some exciting match ups!
Looks like the guy who voices stukov also voices the battlecruiser.

zergling + ultra vs Marine + siege tank,
Nydus worm vs floor,
And a battlecruiser that just falls out of the sky for ¯\_(ツ)_/¯? 🙃
That 100 Immortals was sure against the 100 Ultras and 250 roaches? I don't think anyone bet on the poor immos :D

You can cut the romantic tension with a knife !
Man I just love immortals
100 immortal vs 100 ultralisk:
"Oh wait that's obviously not a fair fight, we still need 250 roaches"
That third fight was a real nail biter
Idea submission. 100 of each of the different types of each immortal vs the same wave of enemies and compare
those immortals put in work...
1. Theoretically this is enough scourge to kill a leviathan, and leviathan is not particularly exceptional at killing scourge quickly. Scourge.
Result: just as I predicted.
2. Initially thought it would be a rare protoss win, but after seeing roaches it was an easy prediction. Never bet on protoss.
Result: yeah lol there was no chance immortals would even come close to winning this, they got absolutely steamrolled.
3. Never bet on protoss. *Especially* never bet on protoss when they have a bad matchup like Adept vs Thor.
Result: that was kinda influenced by targeting rng but Thors managed it in the end. Another fat L for protoss.
4. Never bet on protoss, *especially* if it's BC vs something that Yamato is good against.
Result: common protoss L.
5. No protoss in this one to bet against them by default. Hydras should easily stomp the mutas though.
Result: yeah that wasn't very close.
Overall 5/5. Remember kids, never bet on protoss!
I swear, these post video quotes never fail to get a laugh out of you😂!
Well done Tya!
I've noticed this in some other videos as well, but is that a custom ai where the units that can teleport out-of-range e.g. Stalkers and Battlecruisers do so mid-combat?? That's definitely not the stock AI I remember anyway.
I assume that's custom AI Tya developed and use in their Desert Strike.
Dude, zerg on zerg battles are brutal.
I've always liked the chain lightning void rays. They work the best, imo.
The triumph of human technology over xenos.
You know I though the low Hydralisk health and Mutalisk bounce would actually make a difference, but I forgot how much Mutalisk suck in direct combat
4/4, but I thought it would take a lot more Scourges...
But there were 5 fights
Scourge damage is actually high, while the melee/versus baneling has been nerfed to be crap vs high hp stuff - does something like 20 (+20 vs light) while normal non-ladder banes do at least 40, some versions even do 80.
Also leviathan is strong, but it's air damage is super delayed, if it could hit air with tentacles, and actually had more than just 4, it would maybe be able to kill a few more.
mutalisk: dont worry mama Leviathan, I will grow up and become big like you 😅
Ngl the BC vs Void Ray fight probably would have went much better if the BCs did not teleport back. After the Yamato alpha strike, the BCs lost too much dps. Got all 5 though! Immortals are good but not THAT good xD They will lose to 2x the resources.
no the teleport back was seriously useful. It prolongs the fight, which heavily favors the BCs because that's more of the fight without prismatic alignment.
Scourge I guess, not really sure on this one cuz ya know, Leviathan.
Zerg. Does this feel a little unfair to anyone else? that's just so much health for immortals to get through.
Thors. I love picking Thors when there's fewer than say 30-ish of them. They all start firing immediately in these situations.
Hydras. I just don't think that's enough Mutas.
Edit: lucky lucky 4/4
I only got the immortals wrong, despite the insane odds I thought they would still win because immortals are such a strong unit
Who needs a Hivemind Emulator when you can slam Scourge into a Leviathan and steal its Mutalisks?
What's funny is the Mutalisk still has the team colors of the Leviathan, but is counted as being 2 scourges.
@@JWQweqOPDH
I think there were two Scourge still alive (the ones that were initially hit by the Leviathan's stun).
@@sciencetube4574 Well then why didn't they fight the Mutalisk?
@@JWQweqOPDH guess the mutalisk didn't count as a unit for some reason, which is strange since there's no reason it shouldn't be. As far as I know the campaign version's mutalisks and brood lords are fully fledged units.
My guess is whatever mod Tya uses to record these doesn't account for units being created in the middle of the battle (is this perhaps why we've also only seen creeper hosts but never regular swarm hosts?) and gave the scourges the win when it found no living leviathans but 2 living scourge.
edit: just remembered videos with brood lords and Stukov's infested civilians winning even though they were "created" in the middle of the fight, I have no idea.
Adepts lost because of mis-micromanagement. Those last two Thors were on their last leg and could have easily been taken out had the adepts targeted them over that one Thor in the middle with full HP.
it takes so much ridiculous overpower to beat the immortals and i love it
hit the thor... hit the thor... GODDAMNIT!
Are all of these units from the original game or some are modded in ?
It's unfortunate those Ultralisk didn't have the extra armor, more might've survived...maybe.
That 1 scourge that didn't go for the decoy mutalisks: Omae wa mou shindeiru
All that pain in WoL... when all I needed was 35 scourge...
Poor adepts basically lost half of their number before killing 1 Thor, now that's a morale killer.
Scourge is so bs for these setups.
What is the blue/red icon under the mineral/gas icons and number?
I was very wrong about the immortal one god damn
Blink Thor’s for the next patch?
200 3/3 siege tanks vs Dehaka please.🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
What happens with the yamato gun and the short jump? does it cancel and start the cooldown?
Only failed at the Immortal's one. I missread 200 roaches for 100 roaches.
Also SC1 terran music is the GOAT
The Thor-Adept was total bs... it made me lose my mind XD
Fight 1: uhh… ok… dunno how that goes either way.
Fight 2: immortals are good, but not THAT good. And they got stomped promptly. Surprised to see a couple ultra still remains.
Fight 3: amazing target fire to NOT kill that 3 hp Thor, otherwise adept would win, by a tiny margin.
Fight 4: seems that yamato here is the 240dmg version, otherwise void-ray would die even faster.
Fight 5: muta in ladder is never designed for front line combat. Can make it work but generally a bad trade. This fight shows why.
On the Thor's vs. Adepts - I think target fire hurt both, as the rate adepts falling was the same with 4 thors as with 2 - I suspect they were significantly overkilling there for a bit.
@@DanStaal yeah. There was a pair of thors on the lower right hand (our right) which were perfectly 2 shoting adepts along that flank, but then a third thor joined in with there volleys after a while, which was just a waste of thor shots.
Wouldn’t the battlecruisers do better without jumping?
Something ain't right... I mean mutalisk is sole survivor, so it's a leviathan win ain't it?
Nope, there were 2 Scourge left alice after the Leviathan died
Who wins… 100 corsairs or 2000 scourge?
100 corsairs, without losing any unit (hitscan attack + AoE and bonus vs light is no joke)
Stalkers get blink micro but adepts can even shade in once...
Mutas used to be powerful cause the AOE(area of effect do not confuse it for age of empires) hit up to 3 targets hidras just kick them in the... Whatever they have has tail.
They have a bounce attack rather than an aoe, but yes, that's why muta are strong, even if the bounce damage is weaker in melee/versus.
How do you make stuff like this?
Teleport ability units honestly do more harm to themselves than the enemy when they do that backwards jump.
Agreed, specifically in ranged battles, as it just helps the other side figure out how to focus fire.
I mean, it helped the BCs avoid Prismatic Alignment here, which meant they took a lot less damage than they could have just tanking it.
@@SaulGoodman3D2049 Not really. It just caused the void ray to target switch to a different battlecruiser while still doing the same dps.
@@JJ-qo7th ... and forcing those other BCs to blink back too. Just compare the rate at which BCs died in the 1st prismatic alignment vs the 2nd when their tactical jump was on cooldown.
It took until the frontline of voids were halfway through their PA for the 1st BC to die, and by the end only 21 of 100 BCs died (obviously 21% losses), while the 2nd PA immediately dropped the number of BCs from 20 to 3 (85% losses). Also, at the start of the fight, the void rays had them outnumbered by 50%, but by the time of the 2nd PA they were exactly even in numbers, so despite having way more DPS in the 1st PA, they killed way less. I'm not saying it would help in every situation, but against void rays with an ability that boosts their DPS for a limited amount of time specifically to better snipe units, spreading the damage with tactical jump helped them win.
@@SaulGoodman3D2049 Fair enough, but a bit biaised too. The first PA did less damage because the tac jump spread the damage over all of the units, by forcing a retarget on full health ones when midlife ones jump back. This means the second PA was used against BCs that were all mid-life or less.
Overall tac jump is an immediate dps loss because the unit jumping stops attacking, but it's a long term dps gain by spreading damage over many units, keeping more alive to continue outputing damage
honestly the Immo vs Ultra and Roach seemed unfair, maybe 110 immos?
What are void rays even for?
Pls do 75 Clolarions (Or how many you think would be balanced) vs 90 Sky Fury, thx.
Wait Team Leviathan didn't lose yet. Their remaining Mutalisk could have shot down at least one of the weakened Scourge and than it would have been a draw. Shooting down both wa also not out, so neither was victory.
I demand a rematch!
Immortals may have lost but they still quite op
Go Leviathan VS Hyperion
0/4. I'm calling the leviathan fight a draw because there was still a living mutalisk.
Scourge beat Leviathan, but Leviathan beats Kerrigan, can we assume that Scourge would beat Kerrigan?
at least 1 scourge is on that thumbnail
v
Jeez, Protoss kind of suck now. In the first two expansions, immortals would have obliterated that army and the voidrays would have just melted that battlecruiser fleet. Even Thors would get mobbed by that many small units.
That's actually incorrect on the void ray part.
LotV void rays are much better than WoL void rays, the prismatic beam actually stays charged when it switches targets, and also the player controlled version also has longer range by up to +3 when charged, so they would have easily switched targets to BCs that were just out of range instead of having to slowly fly forward.
Also to be fair, WoL BCs can't attack while moving for w/e reason. Also they had energy, so they could shoot yamato twice.
On the immortal side.. true, to an extent.
For the thors... No? WoL thors are actually stronger somehow.
Immortals won, hands down.
Tacking in the 250 roaches doesn't count in my book xD
Why does Ultralisk suck so much? Aren't they suppose to be the most badass unit of the Zerg. And 100 Immortals which is in a lower class than them beat them so badly when it is an even matchup.
