Thank for this. The other big RUclipsr, you know the Pokémon guy, completely dismissed this. I guess he's too stupid to realize that there are different ways to fight monsters.
@@itskeicoffee there's just something so powerful to look that monster in the eye hit him and taking what he's got and continuing to look him in the eye while you take him out. Smash mouth hunting at its finest.
Now that I know what perfect guarding is a thing and what it looks like... guess I've been doing it on accident! These videos have been super informative, and making new builds based on the info has been a ton of fun! I'm really digging the Deviljho HBG at the moment.
Issue with dodging with hbg is the dodges take up the most up time out of all dodges and they fact that they inherent a big long dodge it can harm positioning for lining up shots.
Informative guide!! Love it! Im not sure if the amount of defence plays a part. I.e if i have 100 def with guard 3 vs 700 def with guard 3, will the chip dmg be different? Also if the difference in chip dmg across levels is just 1 or 2, is that the same for lower def level? Nevertheless its still a viable skill to consider. Thank you for this video!
I dunno how to fit it in on the cb honestly. I thought it would be great on the partbreaker ko build but that build needs all the parts i have equipped haha
I run Guard 3 and DL 1, I just simply hold the button, take the attack, counter with an AED with 3 pulses of phial damage. It's definitely a meme build but I carve rajang with it.
With the new Rajang legs containing resentment lv 2, I'm waiting your content how to formulate: guard + resentment + offensive guard. I think offensive guard is only perfect for lance and charged blade, but now that resentment gets extra piece, the damage boost is insane!
I've mainly been using the gluttonous cannon, but i really prefer reload speed to defensive loading. I just think its too gimmicky. If you're new to the game and dont know monster attacks and dodge timings i think you'll love it but if you know those you know when its okay to reload and dont have to worry about timing a block for 1-2 ammo
No mater what shielded weapon any defense below 630 will be felt on 8☆ and higher while blocking (except lance for the counter guard) I'm using hbg with about 750-780 defense and I BARELY take any chip dmg or non at all. Soo look at it this way. If your defense isn't within too strong then you're shield ALSO isn't that sturdy. I laugh every time I block a heavy hit and see 0 dmg on hbg.
nice tip, this will change player behavior to upgrade armor more instead upgrade weapon like previous patches, but people don't know those exactly defense to take advantage
I'm thinking of running some levels of guard in a lance build, does it work the same for the lance? Or does the better starting shielding on the lance compared to the heavy bowgun not get as much benefit from higher levels of guard?
The lance's shield is stronger. You only need guard 1 and most attacks wont knock you back anymore. For comfort, you can run guard 3 to limit chip damage. As you get better at perfect guarding, you can run full offensive guard elemental builds with out any guard skills
Defensive loading on HBG seems a little gimmicky, like low risk low reward compared to just perfect dodging which will reload the whole clip and confer a damage bonus. So rather than 4-5 points between guard and defensive loading, I’d rather just put those points into damage or even artful dodger.
@EbiLMunkeY it totally depends on the ammo. If you perfect dodge, you even up going out of the critcal distance for spread and sometime wyvern. I think perfect dodging is perfect for piercing ammo
@BDuckification i had a buffed clip of ammo but i used all of it then reloaded with defensive loading and it did not get the buff. Not sure if i would have reloaded buffed ammo if i had one buffed ammo left. Gotta test it out.
I think youre best off using a combo of perfect evade and guarding. Really dont like the HBG having a shield though, i have no desire to make the Kush's dolphin HBG because of how ugly that shield looks (its my favorite HBG in mainline)
…not convinced…😅 I was able to easily beat an 8* Great Jagras with a Grade 4.5 Basarios HBG, using a fire attack +5 and artillery +2 set…with a couple perfect evades.😉 If I sacrificed that fire attack for defensive reload and sat there letting it hit me, I’m pretty sure I’d time out!😅

nice HBG skill breakdown video, Defend Loading with Wywerm ammo is my style!
Same, it feels so good!
Was looking forward to your new upload! Always great Pauwerplays!
Thanks for the support man!
Guard sounds fun but i prefer to dodge as i can hardly farm for materials due to work so my armor is not on par with the monster difficulty
Sadly you do need to invest a lot to make guarding viable.
@@PauwerPlays putting in work bit by bit takes time but it'll workout just fine. As long as I follow your video guides everything will go smoothly

Defense definitely plays a part. The higher the defense the less chip you will take. The knock back will probably remain the same

I have alot of fun with this DF3 G3. Spread ammo. Guarding seems faster than dodging.
It does feel faster and you dont need to reposition just to reload safely

Nah, if you plans to stay in a certain ammo like wyrim, it is a okayish builds
How do I block with a HBG?@@PauwerPlays
@TheNewOption you automatically block when you dont do anything. Do not shoot, do not dodge roll or do not reload

Perfect dodging on HBG only reloads one ammo sadly. Not like LBG.
@@Totobob.hunter ohhh you’re right, I could have sworn it reloaded all of them
@@EbiLMunkeYso yeah, more incentive to try def loading. But of course perfect dodging is safer without the chip damage.
Are reloading with defensive loading reset the buff from perfect dodge?

How do you use offensive guard with hbg? I still can't trigger any yet
For me, i found that using spread without recoil down makes the perfect guard timing feel natural. Give it spread a try without recoil down

sooo to guard you don't have to tap anything?
Yep just let go and it will auto block if you dont do anything
