The "epiclesis" of the marriage bed is not only children but, if we go in faith, (as we would with the Eucharist), the fruit is greater union and a deeper coming together of the two. I love this.
People have no problem with the indissolubility of marriage. The issue is the Church's requirement of a state issued marriage certificate prior to being married in a church. Now, we serve two masters. The Church says we can't get out but the state says we can and promises that it'll be worth our while to do so. Which way do you think people will go? The Church is requiring us to ask the state's permission first before God's permission hence making the church simply a pretty event space. It's a pre-requisite to show proof of participation in secular marriage and, by default, agree to abide by all the divorce laws, prior to being granted a marriage ceremony in a church. How was this allowed to happen? If the Church would go back to not registering marriages with the state, men would marry again. It is the Church's fault for requiring participation in secular marriage laws that has driven men out of marriage. Separate the two and marriage becomes a good option for men. Until then, men are better off not being married. Men aren't afraid of getting married, they are afraid of divorce. The Church is allowing divorce by requiring our participation in secular marriage.
This is crazy... I was just thinking about this the other day and you are reciting my thoughts word for word. Of that is not the Holy Spirit, idk what is...
Once it has been confessed, you’re not obligated to reverse it and may continue to have conjugal relations. You’ll still have to live with the temporal punishment caused from it.
Yes, and you can look for ways to make reparation. Like some ladies I know who had several abortions in their past and after conversion they now dedicate their lives to Pro-Life work partly as a means to make reparation for the irreversible damage they have caused, and this will contribute to reducing the punishment due to sin. God bless you for recognising your error.
I don't understand this comparison between the Eurcharist and sex and how contraception is indicative of what you say, and I don't see how this affects anything beyond openness to life. It sounds like your (or someone else's) interpretation. Is this in the catechism? If so, where? Does this apply to masturbation? Is this dynamic possible in a marriage between a Catholic and an atheist (which the Church allows)? If a marriage between two non-baptized people is seen as a valid marriage in the eyes of the Church, are these "epiclesis" also true in this marriage?
yeahh idk {im not catholic, ik this is one of their hills to die on, but} you know when ppl have a vocation and vow to be celibate, or if a couple can't conceive, they explain it as sort of exchanging the literal physical fruitfulness of a family for spiritual fruit - joy, prayer, spiritual children etc. possibly a similar principle could apply in the case of sex w/o conception. i mean there is still love & life between the couple themselves.

"it's the Holy Spirit who will work in our marriage"
Wow, What a faith & total reliance to the author of marriage.
These two together give me hope for the future of marriage.
I really think this video is phenomenal. What a beautiful way to summarize the splendor that is a true Catholic marriage. Thank you.
I heard the story from Father Mike on "The Hour That Will Change Your Life". Everyone should watch that.
