If the number of views and likes at the 2 hr mark mean anything, I'd say that your approach to photography and subject matter resonate with a lot of people. I very much enjoy the images and b-roll from your local backroads and hidden corners. Also, I received your book. Every bit as excellent and beautiful as I was expecting. Thank you and congrats on a wonderful accomplishment.
I really enjoy your videos, you bring peace into the world of wild and crazy clickbait, yet you find ways to spreading encouragement that motivates me to get out no matter the weather and take photos. Thank you for all of the waffling and enjoyable time even if the weather does not cooperate.
I always enjoy your photos. This is because the things that interest you also interest me. The interaction of humans within the environment/nature. That appeals to me a lot. I believe totally that it is interesting. Many painters in the previous centuries also had this interest.
You have nearly 300k subscribers James, which tells me that your style of photography is enjoyed by many including me. I much prefer photographing scenes that are interesting and make me ask questions to the usual stuff that fills social media these days (sunrise and sunset landscapes). It’s not that I don’t like traditional landscapes, I do, but I very rarely look at those photos later down the line. A rusty tractor or a battered old caravan in an unusual setting, then I can’t stop studying the pictures with a host of questions. I just don’t share them because I don’t think anyone else will like them. I’ll take your advice and share them as someone else might just enjoy them too!
I enjoy seeing what other people are thinking as they photograph whatever it is they photograph. I enjoy the process and seeing the UK. I visit about once a year. Always a pleasant time.
James, excellent video as always. I feel the same way about my photography as I don't fit into one category. I appreciate your comment about "leaning in" to photograph things that interests you. Thanks for sharing your love of the craft.
Loved the first image on the video and that location at the end, beautiful. With you 100% on this style of photography. Oh and the aches and pains at your age are hopefully nothing, wait till you get to the wrong side of 50!!!
Thanks for sharing your experience. Btw, these landscapes look like mine, in West Brittany, France, close to Brest... we also have this unpredictable weather change, these chapels above the sea, these rural houses made from granite rock and those tractors coming from nowhere. Cheers.
You remind me of one of my other favorite photography channels and I think you and him have the same sort of outlook on photography in general sort of. I'm sure you've heard of Craig Roberts and his e6 channel but if not you should check it out because he does what you describe. He views what would be considered ugly or not pretty and finds the shot which I find fascinating which must be why I enjoy your channel too. He openly hates the pretty views and sunrise and sunset and goes out of his way to not capture them which I find funny too.
James helping to justify my own oddities of photography and realizing the weird challenges of trying to take photos down rural farm roads, I even took to taking photos out of the sun roof of my car where I can't pull over.
The best advice you gave was to take the photos that interest you and not worry if they neatly fit a specific/academic genre. It's taking interesting photos that tell a story that count
Had to laugh while watching your latest video. I started watching it and got to the bit where your talking about how you describe your type of photography I had to stop watching to do something else. While doing that I got to thinking about how and when driving along the roads such as the conwy valley, there are photo opportunities but only visible from the car. Blow me when I got back to your video, you said almost the same thing. Only I don't park my car in a bush but only wish I had.😢 Have you been to the village of Rowen lately. I keep meaning to visit there for photos.
at first coming into the video i though the advise with "lean in" was to do with composition and about not being able to fit things in to frame, was hoping to see what your take on zooming in rather than out would have been and how it has changed from previous videos. i do still really enjoy watching i find your videos very relaxing and your humour up my alley. i like to take any advise i can so thats always a positive for staying in tune
I suffered from severe cramps until I took daily Magnesium. Since then, nothing. The expression is 'they don't know you from Adam'. 😊 Nice video. I think Himan Nature is genius. But then you are.
Great as a viewer to get carried away in your process! And to get a look through your specific -non fitting- eyes. I like the photo with the tractor. Tells more of a story to me than the other pictures.
Always enjoyed your photography,. The interplay of man and nature is an area many/most landscape photographers avoid like the plague, but there isn't a square foot of pristine land in England and Scotland (probably Wales too) - forests cleared, new forests planted, arable land, dry stone walls, and even sheep keeping the grass trimmed in the windswept and rocky uplands. Living at the edge of a large (ish) town in Lancashire, I've got access to wild deer in one direction, industrial revolution canals in another and old cotton mills now rapidly disappearing. Trouble is, I'm just not a good enough photographer to do them justice.
I discovered your channel not long ago but man I'm so glad I did! since your way of filming, explaining and photography style really reboosted my interest in photography. thank you for that James 👍🏼
For me, I have come and understod myself as a Portrait photographer, even if I like you mostly photograph "a landscape". That in it self is a subject we have a relationship with and something we can understand more via photo ( the bright red human presence of a letterbox in muted nature). It's close to documentary photography but it's not about capturing a specifik moment/action in time
I don’t know if it would work but a few alfalfa cubes or sunflower seeds in the pocket might bring them a little closer. Cattle will come to the fence assuming you’re going to feed them.
RUclips photographers never respond to comments, not even a like to respect people taking time out to comment, even when it generates income.... Still enjoy your content though 👍 Long time subscriber, been meaning to say....nice Tudor 😉 Signed print is a bit punchy though 😂
I could easily describe your photography and why it's so recognisable: it's landscape photography with human interference, may it be positive or negative. Your preferred colours are usually quite pastel like... 🙌🏻 But hey, who needs categories 🤷🏻♂️
Some decades ago called the photographic genre "Landscape altered by the human being" (New Topographics). Well, they said "by the man", but, now, we know that women exist too.
James, you tend to take a lot of photos with the sky being completely "blank." Is that because of the weather where you live or is it a choice you make because of what you like best?
14:30 'supporting subject' is that the pole, sorry :). Great photo. Do you get annoyed with poles and cables in shot or simply ignore them. I somehow feel removing them in post isn't right, but who knows.
James, I find your style interesting and unique in how you flirt with, but just barely avoid, burning out highlights. I'm more conservative in that regard but I do see how that exposure choice gives a certain sense of etherial peace and tranquility to your work.
I've had the most severe cramps in my legs after the covid vaccine. Now they dont work well and some days, I can barely walk. Weird unexplained medical issues; you're gonna see a lot of that.
"fine art photography" is what you actually fall under. you use photography as a medium to create art, not represent reality totally accurately (your artistic style being very brightly exposed landscapes of artificial structures in a landscape with minimalist composition)

I don’t use youtube often, but when I do I get upset when I don’t see your videos pop up.
I loved it when you got all excited to take your shot of the church!
Lean and keep leaning, unpredictable, spontaneous photography can often have that something special!
I really enjoy your videos, you bring peace into the world of wild and crazy clickbait, yet you find ways to spreading encouragement that motivates me to get out no matter the weather and take photos. Thank you for all of the waffling and enjoyable time even if the weather does not cooperate.
I can't wait for Human Nature to arrive!
The man who talked at sheeps !
A day with a new video from James is a good day.
I always enjoy your photos. This is because the things that interest you also interest me. The interaction of humans within the environment/nature. That appeals to me a lot. I believe totally that it is interesting. Many painters in the previous centuries also had this interest.
Adam 😃😃😃I remember that chapel from your earlier video. Stunner.

Everytime I watch your videos I remember how much I love photography and want to just leave where I’m at and go out and shoot. 🎉
Good work!

Great work - appreciate the graft you put in making these videos.
James helping to justify my own oddities of photography and realizing the weird challenges of trying to take photos down rural farm roads, I even took to taking photos out of the sun roof of my car where I can't pull over.
In hindsight, I had a convertible for a few years in my youth and not once did I just set a tripod up in the back for photos and I regret that.
The best advice you gave was to take the photos that interest you and not worry if they neatly fit a specific/academic genre. It's taking interesting photos that tell a story that count
14:54 yes, you got a tractor!!!! 🚜 👶
Adam, from Adam
I shouted just the same thing at my monitor, several times!
I saw it as a cunning way to increase his comments! :-)
Everyone knows the answer to that one. Apart from James. Apparently.
@@The_Hero_Is_Back Lol.
ADAM! 👍🏻
Thank you James. Keep up the great work and inspiration.
“Christmas cheese” Gift giving solved for Christmas 2025, thanks for that. Your videos are always enjoyable and informative.

“…What they hold in common is the belief that the commonplace is really worth looking at, and the courage to look at it with a minimum of theorizing.”
I’ve missed these walk around videos. 👍

Just ordered the picture from the quarry - it's an amazing photo! I'm inspired by your work, James.

Magnesium biglycinate for your leg cramps. 200mg a day for a couple days whenever you feel them coming on.
"Don't know me from Adam"....thats the phrase you were searching for James.
Beat me to it!

Yes, take care of those "minerals," We'll describe your style as Popsys eclecticism.
Carry on. 👍🥂
great photos still
YOU JUST MADE MY DAY😅My photography is the same way!!! And I hate when people ask me “what kind of photographer I am” 😆🤪 Glad to know I’m not alone🙌
HNY 🎉. Welcome back Missed your vids
Just last night I was searching your name on here. Delighted now before work 😅
"Don't know me from Adam" hahaha
I’d describe you primarily as a ‘suburban landscape photographer’ 🙂
Top tip thanks; I’ll go and visit Ysbity Ifan, stop at Llyn Brenig on the way 🙂
Chances are you've answered this question more than once already, but can you recommend a functional pair of gloves for very cold conditions?
No snow down here in the Swansea Valley, well I mean It didnt last long on the hills

Hey James, maybe magnesium could help with the cramps? I use magnesium malate, because other sorts pass through too quickly😬.
4:49 "don't know me from a bar of soap"
I could easily describe your photography and why it's so recognisable: it's landscape photography with human interference, may it be positive or negative. Your preferred colours are usually quite pastel like... 🙌🏻

Adam. That's what the Sheep was shouting at you.
He’s back, everybody! 🎉😁
❤
Magnesium is the best pill for cramps :-) Interesting video as usual :-) Regards
James, which boots dis you wear? We just bought a dog and I Need good warm and dry boots to walk her and yours look good
Magnesium abates growing pains
0:44 "Christmas cheese" 😂

@4:32 I think you're looking for "Ansel Adams"? 😅
When you decide to go out to take pictures, do you go out at a fixed time or do you go out when you can?
And if so, what are your favourite times?
James, I find your style interesting and unique in how you flirt with, but just barely avoid, burning out highlights. I'm more conservative in that regard but I do see how that exposure choice gives a certain sense of etherial peace and tranquility to your work.
The name you were looking for is “Adam” (you can’t tell me from Adam). Another excellent video
I call myself an opportunist photographer. I mostly do wildlife, night skies, waterfalls, and never people.
The sun can be your friend. It can also be your enemy. 😀
I've had the most severe cramps in my legs after the covid vaccine. Now they dont work well and some days, I can barely walk.
Weird unexplained medical issues; you're gonna see a lot of that.
Topic is the Anthropocene-culture in nature.
No welsh sheep will approach a man in wellies.
"Don't know you from Adam"
No need to fit in any category.
Master of diversity and flexibility
Cramps? Try taking calcium and magnesium.
Hi James, you could call your self an eclectic photographer or a multi-genre photographer?
When people ask what you do… you should just just say “I photograph sheep… mostly”
101st. So it makes sense now.
Electrolytes tablets to stop the cramps
What IS your favourite music?
What is a Wally😂?
Come now, just say “I take pictures of sheep and bins”. 😅
😮
from Adam*
Adam….Dont know me from Adam
I've never seen you take photos inside, so maybe an " outdoor" photographer fits the bill?
Adam
"A Day in the Life" photographer
Adam from Adam and Eve fame
Eve
You don't know someone from Adam (and Eve)..... is the frase you were asking about :)
"fine art photography" is what you actually fall under.

little bird just poop
In my book, there are only two categories when it comes to any art: 1. I like it 2. I don't like it.
Keep telling yourself that bub 😅
But your work has no meaning they're just silly photos without an actual purpose bro.
