This theme is so overlooked, admittedly it doesn’t have lyrics but it is still fucking awesome. It really encapsulates the panic of the situation as everything Raiden dishes out has little to absolutely zero effect on Armstrong.
The way this music kicks in when Armstrong adjusts his glasses as we hear a crowd cheer sound effect in the background is so corny and badass at the same time.
Armstrong has a few moves in first stages: 1. Brawler combo: right hook, left hook, straight kick, then, after a second (be careful to not let your guard early!!!) a straight punch. 2. Karate strike. Overhead punch following a karate pose. 3. Burst of energy. Armstrong freeze for a second, then unleash energy around him. Cannot be blocked. 4. Backhand. If you stay behind him, he will use it to quickly rotate himself to your position. Quite fast, so be ready to block or dodge. 5. Charge then grab. Cannot be blocked if he catches you, he will do as following kick, which lift Raiden to the air, catch his face and deliver the headbutt.
Doesn’t cover the super fast grab + super fast backhand in his rage mode. Also, he has a kick, an uppercut, and a right hook followed by a backhand. He often likes to do the right hook backhand first, followed by the uppercut, then the kick. He will also often chain the stomp attack (the karate strike, lmao) with the energy burst. After entering rage mode, he will also charge at you when at a distance, often doing either a kick, grab, or combo upon reaching you. Finally, he has a special attack where he’ll raise his hand like with the fire attacks in phase 3, and the HUD will dissappear. This is unavoidable and does no damage. He will do this after 2 minutes have passed, but it can be prevented if you are aggressive enough, as instead he’ll just do normal attacks.
It makes sense that it would be heavy percussion without lyrics. This is Raiders fear haunting him. Until you get the sword and the beat switches and becomes lighter with more electric guitar. Then the lyrics kick in and it becomes Raiden’s Theme (It has to Be this Way)
The songs urgency is beautiful. Raiden, who can tear down building sized machines and toss gigantic foes eithout a threat is struggling to deal any significant damage to a dude who seems absolutely NORMAL.
