First up is a DIY folding board. These are great and can be used with shirts, pants, towels and more. Normally they retail for $15-24, but you can make it for $6 at the Dollar Store. I know some people use cardboard to do this, but the clothes don't have the same crisp fold, and it doesn't last a long time (bends very easily), and the clothes stick to the sides. That's why I love this hack so much!
I'll also show how to make DIY fridge liners to catch spills and drips. If you try nothing else in this video, please try this tip-- it has truly changed our fridge (and no I'm not using placemats!). It makes it so easy to clean, and they don't slide around at all.
If you have any suggestions about Dollar Tree turntables/lazy susans, please let me know. I couldn't get mine to work!

The lazy Susans only work if there is enough weight on them. I use mine for cans, but it won't work for lightweight things like spices. If you adhere the bottom of it to your shelf it might work for lighter things, but I haven't tried it.
Egershon you go girl!!! You are right!! I tried with cans and it works much better. Just don't use light stuff. Now we know!! ⭐️🤗🤗🤗
I putty mine down in my cabinet and they work much better for lighter things.
Unfortunately, there seems to be an upper limit of how much weight you can have on it and still have it rotating smoothly. I have vinegars and oils on one (mostly glass bottles) and it doesn't spin well at all. But it was a cheap way to find out whether a lazy susan would work for us in this space, and now that I know I'm going to pick one up from Bed Bath & Beyond with a coupon (the marble hack is just too noisy for me personally 😊).
+Do It On A Dime yay Egershon!
I have gotten a lot of lazy susans at thrift stores for $1-$2. I really like the 2 tier ones.
setting those lazy susans on vinyl shelf liners help with it staying put :) and of course putting things with a bit of weight will make it work better
Go Carson. You're announcing, cooking, and professionally folding. You're taking over the world. Great job.
Carol Williams he says, "thanks Cawol! I have a Batman cape too!"
:) lol..cute!
He is so bloomin cute!
Carol Williams what a sweet comment!!
Hey Carson is so stinking cute!! I just realized you live in my town!! Maybe we will run into each other soon😊
Carson is gonna be an expert at this everyday 😁 how adorable!
If there is a wonder woman on youtube.. it has to be you! You are an inspiration to so many of us! Keep it coming!!
Love you I'm 59 and you inspire me every time keep up
Thank you
I love your tips and I love the fact that you keep them short and to the point. I hate when people making these kinds of videos talk and talk about stuff. Just get to the point. So needless to say I don't watch them. But I really love yours. I have started to use some of your ides and have a list of others I'm going to do. 😀
I agree about the talking. I skip ahead, get the the doing part already.
Wow! You ever cease to amaze me! LOVE these hacks. Thanks for sharing!
The clear "sink" mats are actually my favorite thing to line the fridge shelves with. They protect the glass from scratches, absorb the noise and contain spills better than the flat liner. I have done this for years. They are easy to wash when I clean my fridge to start fresh again and again or just do one shelf as needed. They also let the light pass through for visibility.
I just love the way you love your family. Carson & Owen are truly blessings along with Charlie of course. 👍🏻💜 And your hauls and tips, very enjoyable, thanks for sharing. Stay daily blessed.
Thank you, my 11 yr old loves to fold laundry with a shirt folder. We made one out of cardboard but it fell apart, so I'm so excited to try this out. Awesome, thanks so much!
Cock fight videos
The clear mats must NOT, however, be placed on wire shelving in the fridge. These shelves are designed to circulate cool air throughout the entire fridge. So if you block them, you will be calling a repair person unecessarily for a warm fridge. (daughter of a appliance repair man)
Good tip!
Kathy King wow wouldn't have known that thanks for sharing...
Kathy King Thank you for pointing that out, that could be an expensive mistake!
There is no wire shelving in the fridge. It's in the pantry.
Thanks for the heads up.
Great tip for folding, it save so much time and they fold perfect!! I love it!
By introducing me to so many economical, simple, & easily implemented strategies, you help me continuously improve my efficiency & home management ‘toolbox’ of skills. As I’ve begun implementing your many suggestions, I have then been able to further share these with my very busy adult daughters. Just wanted to let you know how far-reaching your impact goes beyond the huge numbers that are readily apparent. If we are all “telling two friends”…..well, that’s a hugely positive impact on both individuals AND in turn, on families! And “just in case you haven’t heard it today, you are loved and you are enough!” 😊. Thanks for sharing your kindness, creativity, & knowledge!!!💗
OMG, ❤the laundry folding hack!!!
oh my gosh...and to think that i bought the expensive folders....thank you for sharing my friend
Fabulous job Carson! You have the best ideas girl.
Regarding the lazy susan, I used one to turn a beautiful round Italian platter I was given into a turntable centerpiece for our table. I attached the lazy susan to the bottom of the platter using the blue poster tack from the dollar store and the job was done for $2! It works beautifully and I get lots of comments. Until I found Do It On a Dime, I had never been to a Dollar Tree. Your ideas are the catalyst for many positive and creative DIYs at this house! Thanks, Katherine!
I prefer 2 cake pans and marbles from the Dollar Tree. They work great!!!
Stormy Girl, for lazy Susan? How do you make? Thanks
I do this too. I use sling shot shot - 1.4” Just put a small layer of shot between two 8 in cake pans. The top one spins, plus they have a side. So spices and such can be held in by the wall of the pan.
I absolutely love your energy! you seem like such a sweet and fun person to be around!
Mia Lynn aw, what a nice thing to say. Thanks, Mia!
I've been soooo close to buying those clothes folding boards...thank you!!!!
Zip ties to attach the sink thingies together. Carson is adorable!
So, I watch EVERY single video you post, LOVE them, get to the Dollar Store and go into mash potato brain mode. I cant for the life of me remember what to buy in there!! I walk the isles, with an empty buggy, saying to myself "I neeeeeeed Kathryn with me!" Well, today I'm changing that!!! I just started a DOLLAR TREE list on my iphone "note" section and put the items, how many i need, and the name of your video explaining what I need to do with the items!! SEriously, turning 55 is no joke people... "NOTE" section is going to be my new BFF as I cant remember anything!! Thanks for another great video... .now that my note section is open, I may need to go back and watch ALLLLLLLLL your videos to put those items on my list. :)
debi powell ha! I love this, Debi! I totally have a note section in my phone for to-find items!!
debi powell OMG THAT WAS ME TODAYY!!😂😂😂
There is nothing worse than making a paper list of what you need and then not being able to find your list lol
The Note section gets even better when you learn how to use the voice assistant on your phone. I made a note yesterday, totally hands free, while I was driving home, so I wouldn't forget what I needed to pick up at the store. I really need to find the banner Dollar Tree in my town...
I know I'm commenting a year late but you could just take pictures of the things as you see them in the video.
Love this video! Definitely trying the liners when I move into my new place! The lazy Susan's work wonders for me but I realized you have to put heavy stuff on it, so on one I have cans and the other I have bottles, once I put them on they work and spin wonderfully! It's light things that won't make it spin!
I splurged and got my lazy susans at Bed Bath and Beyond (with great coupons)! I was not as worried about price as I was EXCITED about the great cabinet and refrigerator hacks. I'm now "Lazy Susan Crazy" and proud of it!!!! Thanks for all your great tips. I watch you constantly!!!!
That is so incredible that this hack makes it so your 4 year old can fold the shirt perfectly!!
Amazing hacks Kathryn. I use these 3 products in my home. I made the sink mats into sort of a peg board and zip tied several smaller containers to organize a lot of things. I love how you made them into your laundry folder. I also use those cutting mats as liners. You are so right, they blend well on the shelf. Great minds think alike! I use the lazy Suzan as the bottom part of my DIYs that I made one for K-cups and one for make-ups. Thanks for sharing these tips. Hugs~ Josie :)
LifeAt50&Beyond can you post a pic of your peg board? sounds like a great idea!!!
Sara, you should check out her channel! She has videos on her projects.
LifeAt50&Beyond I saw your video. Great Idea. I definitely want to try it!! Thanks !!
LifeAt50&Beyond do you have a video?
LifeAt50&Beyond
yes, finally, my husband can fold hin clothes! i can fold clothes with no problem because i did it countless of times when we were younger and I don't know if it counts for anything, but I am Asian. Kids in my country can cook by the time they are 5. But being married to my husband, whose mom still folds his clothes (face palm), it is a pain seeing him not helping in this otherwise mindless task. America, start teaching your kids because they end up becoming husbands or wives too, you know.
AMEN! My son's ex-girlfriend had to be shown how to clean a toilet when she was leaving for college...COLLEGE, PEOPLE!! I had my boys helping with chores when they were toddlers (not Asian, by the way). Thanks for all the great hacks, DIOAD!!!
Diana Ragub Hey Diana. you are so right! I am African American and I taught my son to cook and do laundry before he was in middle school
Everyone always complimented me on how neat he was and how his jeans (back in the day) were nicely creased. Those habits stay with you I to adult life
So, I agree with you on some folks smothering instead of real mothering.
Back when I was a kid, we were taught to do everything as soon as we were physically able to do the task, then we were expected to do it from then on (American kids of European and Hispanic parents). These days, some people don't seem to expect their kids to do much at home, but they have jam-packed outside schedules, with sports, lessons, etc.
BlaizC Amen brother!
I taught both my kiddos how to do laundry when they were 10 and 12. Good thing too because I became very sick for a long time. Plus I want them to help their wives. They also know how to vacuum, cook and clean. Just break it down into steps.
Girl!!!!! You are a genius! Thank you so much! My daughter is a Tee Shirt designer for Girlie Girls Originals........and being the good mother I am..............I purchase every shirt that has her design on it. Who would of thought my closet would be over flowing with tee shirts. You my dear solved that BIG problem for me...............they all fit nicely folded now in ONE dresser drawer!!!! Your the best!! Thanks bunches! I so love your videos...........and you too! :) Sandy
Love that you got Carson in on the folding action! Kids love to help with chores when they're little!
They do! He really love that thing!
I sprayed mine with coconut cooking oil a turns like a charm lol.
The shirt folder hack was good, although I have been folding my T Shirts and blouses in a square for years without a "help". I don't mind not using a board of sorts. I suppose I've gotten so use to doing it without even laying the shirts on a surface and it doesn't take a lot of time. Still a board, is a good hack. The refrigerator shelf hack is very good and I will be getting g some more chopping boards soon. Thanks for sharing.
I have a regular flip n fold it works wonders! leaves your drawers so organized I can't live with out it..💜 love your twist on it though
Great 👍 folding mat and so are the shelf liners! Love seeing your kids. So great that you have them helping at a young age and teaching them responsibility.
I love your videos because they are usually less than 5 minutes and they give me tons of information! I only wish other You Tube video posters would follow your format!
Oh, my goodness Kathryn! I purchased the $20 one. I am so bummed right now😔😔😔! I am waiting on you next time. 😉 You are so clever. You are like a dollar tree ninja 🎎. ps I myself had no luck with the DT Susie. it's went in the recycle bin last month. I am currently using the diy cake pans susie. Another one of your ninja projects. sayonara Kathryn
God bless you and your family! Peace!
This is such a fun comment! Lol
Sari Observes
thanks
Theresa Fawehinmi the DIY lazy Susan was actually originally from Alejandra.tv channel, and I use it in several areas of my home!
Lol, dollar tree ninja, I love it!!!
The first one is so aesthetically pleasing !
My 4 year old granddaughter was trying to learn how to fold her clothes to help me and THIS hack will be great!! Thanks for the tip! 😀
Who else saw the "Knowin with Owen" Shirt Sooooo Cute
I just reorganized my husband's T-shirt drawer in this manner. I organized them by color and he loves it!! Now I'm off to the Dollar Tree to find the sink mats!! Great idea..thanks so much for sharing!! I really enjoy your videos!! I'm 65 years old, and have used your tips over and over again in my home! It's never too late to be organized! Thank you!
The dollar tree is my favorite new store. Especially for home schooling!
Hi! What an awesome ideas! like always you got a 100%. l love you and your family and will be waiting for your next video.
May God Bless!
Over 30 years ago, I bought two 10" lazy susans by Rubbermaid. One is a double decker, and I keep my spices on them. I don't see them in stores anymore, but they are fantastic, and still going after all these years. Of course the the color is harvest gold, but oh well. They need to start making them again, because they are so handy. =^..^=
The Pedestrian - I found one of these double deckers recently at Goodwill for 99¢!! Score! lol
The Pedestrian I still have mine too. Both the single and double. They work like new.
ha! @ThePedestrian me too and mine are still rocking!
They still make them. For sale at Walmart, about $10-12.
The Pedestrian Spray paint that Harvest Gold to update it 😉
Thank you so much for the idea on folding clothes. I have a 8 year old fold her own clothes. with this device she is able to fold her neatly. Thank you so much. I love you channel.
I made the laundry folder, but used 9 mats because my family's clothing is in the 3x range.....it works like a dream! Thank you!!!!
I was wondering how to do this with larger clothes, as I am a 4x-5x size. How many mats did you have at the top and bottom--what was the configuration? Thank you in advance!
@@pctchr I did her basic configuration, but on the bottom of the second row, I put three more. On the sides I taped at the bottom only, and it was tight together. In the middle, it was the same way. Taped on the bottom of the second row, tight together. I made sure that the two sides could still be folded in, I just elongated the bottom row!
@@sarasmomma4255 Thank you for your response. I am going to try this! I am glad it worked for you; thanks for sharing!
I'm watching this right before folding clothes and I really wish that the dollar tree by me was open right now 😂😂
found great 3.99 lazy suzans at TJ Maxx couple weeks ago.
Heather 22, how big are they for $4? Thanks
@@lory6605 it was about 11" in diameter or so.
I just bought the sink mats to make the folding board and I'm so freaking excited! No one can make me so excited about laundry like Kathryn
My husband loved this hack so much (he usually thinks hacks I want to try are silly) and went to the dollar tree ON HIS OWN without telling me and bought the supplies for the folding device. All our clean clothes have been folded.
I'm addicted to Dollar tree now lol
Olivia Denton 🙌🙌
I wish we had dollar tree here!! The equivalent in our country just isn't as good lol
Olivia Denton welcome to the dollar tree club 😂
-daisydays 🌼
Katheryn, Can you please do a popsicle video, or kids summer treats Please. Nobody's going to like this comment are they?
Eisha Iman great idea for cooking with Carson!
Do It On A Dime Thank You💓💓
Yes, i would like to see that too :)
I'd love to see a video on that...and I don't even have kids! Our favorite spokesboy Carson will be demonstrating. Absolutely!!
Just returned this very moment from the Dollar Tree (I think I faintly heard trumpets in the background). I looked high and low for sink mats. And....they...had...them!! Two in a pack, that's a bargain.
And I also bought a dozen of their little solar stick lights for the front beds. And some nail polish. And....
@DoItOnaDime are these Mats flimsy?
Love the short folding mat; that's brilliant..
NEVER in a million years I would have thought of them LOVE BOTH WILL DEF TRY AND MENTION YOU IN MY HAUL ...TFS.....👍👍👍👍👍👍😱😱😱😱
Kathryn, do you have any organization ideas for a laundry room with no storage . Those big plastic laundry bottles take up so much room on my laundry machine. Any ideas would be great. Thanks!!!
Buy a small bottle of your laundry detergent and just keep refilling the bottle. It takes only a few seconds to fill back up the bottle.
i did try the DT lazysusans and honestly I will pay the extra $$ for better quality.
Its_Gretchen For_Real same! I wanted them to work so much!!
Its_Gretchen For_Real, tried it yesterday too It doesn't work. they don't turn or they are hard to turn. I got all excited and grab three and when I was at the check out counter I decided to get only one instead just to try it out first. I'm glad I didn't go all crazy because they didn't work for me.
I got the ones from Amazon. They work great with light or heavy objects, and they weren't that expensive.
Its_Gretchen For_Real , I agree. Today I found a good quality wooden one at a thrift store for $4.00. I felt like I scored. Those cost no less than $15.00 elsewhere.
Dear Katherine. Thanks for all of your great ideas.Love your ebullience. You have such a great personality.Kudos to that adorable son of yours Carson.I am waiting to see what Owen is going to do.He seems to be such a happy fellow. With you as a mom it's no wonder those kids are so great.Love to you and your beautiful family.
Brilliant idea Kathryn! That Carson is so smart, beautiful little boy God bless him. 😍
Hello random person scrolling through the comments hope you are having a great day or as yoda would say having a great day hope you are
How sweet! Thank you
Hey do it at a dime I went to the dollar tree today and I saw that they have the school supplies and they have a value pack of 200 pieces of paper everyone like this so she can see
He is just the cutest lil thing! I'm going to get to make for my 7yo to use.
I love the chop mat idea! Cheaper than the expensive refrigerator mats!
The filing system for shirts only works if you have different colored shirts. 99.9% of mine are black 😂😂 Where's the laundry/closet organization for goths, Kathryn!!
Omg..How do you come up with this stuff??? Lol lol
you are one talented momma :) I have my 8 year old son hanging most of his t-shirts because after he was folding them and putting away in his dresser, they would come out wrinkly. However this system is genius!!! I have my 4 yr old daughter currently putting her non folding items (socks, underwear, bathing suits, pj's,) into the bins each go into...but now this is such a great way to get little young ones started on learning to fold their stuff! Thanks so much for another great tip :)
I AM SUPERRRRRR EXCITED I FOUND YOU!!! we are a military family and as you can imagine we move every 3 years. I love having everything in its place nice and tidy. We are just now moving into our newest home and with buying a home well we are kind of on a budget. Your videos are FANTASTIC! See you later NC, hello GA.
What can you expect for a dollar. Sometimes I don't even bother to shop there. It seems like a lot of junk to me. No offense to anyone. That's just my opinion.
Marlene S some things are not good buys. But I'll tell ya the Dollar Tree's quality is getting better.
Carson is so adorable !! His enthusiasm just brightens my day :) Thank you so much for your hacks, Kathryn !!
Carson folds laundry.... He can't get any more perfect!!!!
Love your videos I went and got me a lot of things to organize my kitchen laundry room and bathroom and my craft room
Two Dollar Tree cake pans (metal) stacked on top of each other with a package of Dollar Tree marbles in the middle. Works like a charm!
This folding mat is genius!
I just made the t-shirt folder and my 12 year old just volunteered to fold his brother's laundry after his own lol!! Great hack, thanks for sharing!!
This is gold! Been doing my shirts with this method for a week or two and it is making me SO happy! Thank you!
Your enthusiasm is so contagious. Love it
Pure genius!!! Thank you for the idea!!!
Genius hacks. Definitely using the 1st soon and hope to use the 2nd when we have a fridge like that. Thank you!
making folder is so cool, loved watching little man fold, you are the best !
Two round cake pans with a handful of marbles in between them. Works like a charm!
My mom and I love getting organized on a budget with your videos!!!!
I really can't wait to make Dollar Tree Laundry Folder and try it for myself!!I enjoy your cheerful attitude and enthusiasm!!!
I love her “ HEY GUYS👋🏽” intro every time 😭❤️
You are beyond amazing. I was impressed with Carson's eagerness to help out: He gets it from you!
AWESOME FOLDING HELPER, AND CARSON IS ADORABLE........TFS........ CHRISTINA
I bought two lazy suzans and glued an old bread crumbs container in the middle of each and made it two tier. I love it.
Wow!! The folding mat thing! Gonna try!!
I just made the laundry folder, using your tutorial. It works. Tell Carson,. that with a lot of practice, I may be as good folder as he is
That shirt folder is sooooo freaking amazing!
You are AMAZING!!!!! I love your positive, happy energy. You motivated me to start organizing every space in my house . Thank you so much for all those amazing videos. 😊❤️
The lazy Susan's work for me. I love them. I have two in my pantry.
You have amazing ideas! And your son is so cute! Thanks for sharing !
Kathryn, this is genius! I'll have to make that clothes folding gizmo. It'll really help my family fold their clothes neater and faster. Maybe then they won't go "awwwww" when I ask them to fold their laundry. 👕👚👍🏻
I love watching you and all your great ideas!!!!
Went out today and bought the chopping mats and made my lazy susans with the pie tins like you showed in one of your videos. Now my ref. will stay clean and I have a lazy susan that works!!!!! You are right, the white ones do not work.
Wish you were around when I was a young mom!
I just made my folding boards. Works like a dream... thank you!
I'm using $1 lazy Susan from the Walmart for about a year now, and I absolutely love it!
I recently moved next door to a dollar store so your DS videos are crazy helpful! I did the sink matt folding board but cut the center boards down smaller to fold my shirts a bit smaller to fit my drawers.
Carson you are so cute!! What a great helper you are!
Oh my goodness ..great tips ..the mat shirt folder and the mats in the fridge ..can't wait to do this ..thank you
OMG the folding board is genius. I usually fold clothes really fast but will
Be excited to try this technique
I love your videos mama ! I officially have a dollar store obsession now 😂
Tried your shirt folder hack...Wow! It worked... And I'm a DIY moron! Great tip!!
Wow, the folding alternative was brilliant!
