I am rewatching clips of this movie. There is a simultaneous story of Claire being told that almost EVERY PERSON missed. To understand this, you have to have some knowledge of psychology and how the mind deals with trauma. All in all, so far, I came across SEVEN references to... "the aftermath of Code Veronica on Claire's psyche." Watch VERY CLOSELY for the INVOLUNTARY reactions where she gets angry, or gives a deer in headlights reaction, or even has her voice shake a little in grief when Leon calls her "rescuer." Even the end battle, when the sirens (that are similar to self destruct sequence sirens) are sounding, there is this paralyzed stunned reaction and claire has to shake off the mental cobwebs. The question is, what happened in the last Biohazard she survived that traumatized her so badly?
Think about all those moments in horror movies where a character gave a weapon or spare to someone else and they ended up dying because of it. Makes sense to just hold onto it in case you yourself need it and give it out when necessary
A lot of it has to do with focus. Carrying a kid around requires two hands and the initial run required her to really hoof it. Meanwhile Leon can completely focus on the group and overwatch with two hands. Claire's extremely competent, but Leon would only trust Claire to protect that kid. The swat members are fully geared with kit, but having a sidearm for emergencies means you can take more risk - if you only have a handgun for protection and are distracted by a kid, there's a great chance you'll get pulled, misstep, and take a wild shot. Better to 100% focus on the movement tactically and position her smartly. Claire, knowing she has no defense but Leon and SWAT, will stay in tighter formation and thus protect everyone by keeping the group moving. One thing to note too, Leon's packing his Re4 weaponry. That wasn't his secondary pistol he threw, it was his primary. His primary is the headshot specialized pistol he started with in RE4. He drew his backup black tail afterwards. Honestly if I was in Claire's position, as crazy as it sounds, not having a gun is quite useful when you're trying to keep a group moving. Someone focusing on the movement and group tactics can make the entire group move much much faster. Splitting your focus between shooting and running you end up making poor decisions and scaring the kid, and deafening her at least temporarily. If you think about RE2 and how much running they've had to do, they know movement is just as important as weaponry. Also Claire kicks the head off one of those zombies, if there's an occasional stray apparently she can totally do the "press x" to kick maneuver. A handgun for an occasional stray would be good, but apparently Claire can just boot those. ... so I'm not gonna hate on Leon here, when it came time he relinquished his weapon to Claire when it really mattered. A throw is risky, but in the RE4 universe apparently that's normal tactics. But if you've ever played L4D or Re2, you know running is a big part of the game. L4D especially - really easy for people to stagnate and ammo dump just to stay "calm", but watching a girl run unarmed with a kid? You can really see the social benefits of having someone "drive" that way. If I had to take the kid, and Leon offered me a gun, I wouldn't take it - I'd rather be able to hold the kid 100% and make sure she doesn't wander off. Even in this Claire drops her momentarily, probably due to being tired, and disaster happens. You stop to draw that weapon and you might miss the zombie behind you - and she gets eaten. It sucks, but that kid is gonna take a LOT of focus. Putting her in your arms and running, you can hot foot it pretty hard. If the group didn't have someone like Leon running around though? I'd be far more concerned, but Leon is all about overwatch, as long as you have 1 person you can totally rely on, then it makes more sense to make sure they're setup tactically. I have a friend who's undergone a LOT of military training, and I absolutely would make sure he has 2 guns and have me focus on the kid entirely... and take my chances with an occasional kick, knowing I can call for a weapon if I need one. A trained operator can do a LOT with a loaded sidearm ready to go. You can take more chances, you can take more heat, you can afford different tactical maneuvers knowing you have a sidearm to pull. It doesn't have to be used to provide a tactical benefit in use, but the tactical benefit in potential. Knowing you have an extra sidearm ready to go means you can afford to NOT tactically reload primary weapons and instead run them dry knowing you have a way to continue sustained fire or suppression if necessary. This means you won't do tactical reloads (which btw means a reload where you leave a magazine with 4-5 bullets because you have the time now to load, but now you have to manage partial magazines) and instead run guns empty knowing you have something to back you up. This doesn't sound like a huge benefit, but with Leon on point he can now afford to run out of ammo, miscount or otherwise burn entire magazines knowing he can protect, suppress, and drive without worrying about being caught in a bad reload scenario. ... also we didn't even get into the distribution of ammunition, that's another thing. If Claire takes a gun for security, but doesn't use it, that's a waste. Better to front-load Leon and let him manage ammunition more effectively in a command position... while you focus on keeping that kid calm and moving. The whole scenario is make-or-break, so you want to use every round you have getting out, so better Leon manage the ammo entirely and use it all when appropriate, than to have to communicate to Claire when to ammo dump. And y'know, even Leon handing it off - she uses minimal ammo, because this is a numbers game. Gotta be precise but rush.
Leon is a government agent that canonically has custom gear made spesificlly for him and are not legally allowed in the hands of civilians. His main side arm that he threw to Claire holds almost twice the amount of rounds as any standard military issue sidearm, and other modifications that would make it a federal offense to own, much less just hand out. Besides that, Leon would be classified as a specialist after taking his experience in Raccoon city and training further to deal with situations such as this one. Like he says prior to this scene, "Shoot them in the head. Otherwise, you're wasting time and ammunition, and THAT can be fatal."
6:16 one of my favorite moments from this movie. Claire's instinct to protect someone defenseless kicks in, and she jumps down without thinking about it. Then, when Leon throws a gun her way, the instinct to kill comes back, just as it did with Raccoon city. No other thoughts, just actions.

i like how the devs pulled a little Easter Egg with the red and white "umbrella" held by Claire lol
God I miss Alyson Court as Claire. She is the true Claire Redfield.
0:15 my sides!!!
This voice acting is making me lose my mind holy hell its horrible and great all at the same time 😂 😂
It's actually good the fuck you talking about.
That’s because that’s Claire’s original voice actress 😂
That pissed me off at the beginning when Alison Court wasn't the voice actor of Claire in RE2R...
At least they didn't picked a bad choice because I would have been more angry.
@@remytt4 im actually impressed how consistent they kept Claire's personality. Like the way she's characterized in Infinite Darkness, I can see her in both movies as the same character even though the voice actress is different.
I mean not everyone is an actor in a real life situation
I like Leon's "Yup", like what is he, Freaking Brad Pitt or something?
Best CG movie , best voice acting
I'm slightly embarrassed to say it took me a few watches to understand what Claire meant when she said she didn't see that coming
yep she was giving an umbrella to fight with, get it? "umbrella"?, considering Umbrella is responsible for the outbreak.
Get down! Just like back in 1998
Did anyone notice the umbrella has the same coloring as the actual Umbrella Logo?
Claire certainly noticed. "Never saw this coming..."
Do l look like I'm okay! Very funny tho 😅😂
2:00 Just like how they first met back in Raccoon City in RE2😏
RIP Greg
@ 04:25 so green herb anyone?
"It's OK. I am the protagonist."
Chris in the background, smiling to the bone.
Claire is the action girl and Leon is the bad boy hero! Please Capcom make them a couple!
The irony of using an “Umbrella“ to defend herself. Great colors too. 😊
Paul Mercier is god
Indeed. Unfortunately, Paul Haddad, the voice actor of Leon during RE2 has passed away, RIP.
@@justintomimbang7955 that sucks mam
Funny way of spelling Matthew Mercer lol
Rani being afraid of being left behind... I can relate 😞 i can relate to that kind of trauma too and most likely Claire had experineced that in her younger, pre-Racoon City years when her parents died but unlike most of the kids being left alone, she at least has an elder brother. I guess what Claire was ro Sherry and now to Rani was how Chris was towards her when their parents died. I guess Chris always tell and promised younger and pre-Racoon City Claire that he will never leave her which is why when Claire cant reach Chris when Racoon City incodent happened, she didnt hesitate to go and look for him, no matter how dangerous it was.
06:50 - 19 year old Claire, ACTIVATED!

OH, THAT'S WHERE HER HARVESTING TOOL IN FORTNITE COMES FROM!
I thought it was just referencing Umbrella Corporation and nothing more, but it comes from this film!
Yeah. I notice immediately.
Yes it's a noticeable reference I thought
Claire is really beautiful she's really a good match for Leon and what lacks to Claire is she should try to loose her hair up not always in ponytails so that Leon would notice more of her beauty.Ayiee😍😍😍💕
Wonder how Leon and Claire would fair fighting Deadites with Ash? That's a crossover just waiting to happen.
Leon didn’t give Claire a gun until a very verry close moment although that mfk has 2😅
Leon has 2 guns and didnt give claire any of it 😂
Why is leon so emotionless in this movie and why is no one talking about it 😭
1:18 Reference To The Corporation that Started All This....
Do you have a plan ?!
Leon : we run across the lobby 🗿
The dude in 2:21 looks like the default fortnight skin character
If the rumors r true for re9 imma miss claire so so much 😢
what rumors?
And someone has to be sacrificed... 🤣🤣
06:50 code veronica. Claire unlocked.
Honestly, shes even more badass than Angela miller
Is this the same universe as the movies?
Only game and CGI movies, not live crap action
11 months ago 😊
It means continuing Redfield bloodline
Are those the same voice actors from the games
レオンの銃もしかしてSG09RのUSPカスタムかな?
ちょうどアシュリー救出作戦成功した後のあたりだね。
Where can i watch this movie for free? I cant find it anywhere
Amazing

Me: OK now why the hell they didn't get together in Cannon now I have genuine questions on this writing. That kick and point-blank shot should win any man over, I am just saying I be blushing like hell at this point.
Fun fact: This movie was actually my first introduction to the resident evil, it wasn't the game, but the bit of horror and action in this movie threw me into it abit.
I hate that Zombies always bit through hard-fabric

leon re4: try using knives next time, better, work better for close encounters
This! THIS is what Leon should have been like in 4. This is what the naive young rookie cop that nobody listened to would become, a professional and experienced agent who everyone now listens to. He doesn’t mention his own survival of Raccoon, only Claire’s. He makes her out to be the badass, that’s humility. Instead in 4 we got a fucking clown…
Huh?
Is it me, or does Leon have Silver Ghost as his primary sidearm and the Punisher he got in Spain as his backup? (could be a different pistol as it looks a bit smaller, but it sure looks like it!)
No, his backup was a Glock 30 chambered in 45acp.
@@adrnacad3434 Good eye! Thanks for that.
Way better than Death Island
3:44
Imagine a CGI movie of this set in Japan then 😅
I won’t get over them using Paul mercier’s voice for the bad guy on the Netflix animated movie….
Same. I'm salty af over that.
one of the few good cartoons of the franchise. the scripts of the others are just desperately dumb
If he had a second one, why didn't he give a gun to Claire from the start?
An umbrella, how convenient
Stuck your ego up your uss 😂
is this the first meet after raccoon?
