I first heard about this game at gamestop. I had no idea what it was and I signed a petition they had for it here in the US. A few months later I went to gamestop and they said I had a preorder. I didn't remember putting a preorder in for this game I knew literally nothing about. but I was there to get a new game. I figured why not and brought xenoblade. I loved this cut scene but I never realized the true scale of this until I reached guar plains. This honestly is one of the best RPGs I've ever played. I'm glad I got it.
My friend first showed me this intro after Smash 4 came out. I was like claws, screechy voice, that's Metal Face isn't it? That caught my friend off guard a little.
Jacob Greenstone I remember half way into the game before I had reached prison tower I was Wondering how much they played for mumkhars VA and I thought maybe they'd recycle the VA for metal face. Slowly I started realizing they both had claws and they could be using the same VA for a reason.
I mean anyone with basic knowledge of storytelling understands that they would not just write a character with an established motive and then just kill him of in matter minutes and never reference it again.
Dunban is fucking amazing. Maybe even a bit of a Gary Stu, but I don't care, I still love the guy. I thought he would have died in this battle... only he turns up not too much later, albeit with a completely decimated right arm. Not even that's enough to stop him, though, oh no. Not only does he manage to take up the Monado a second time, albeit temporarily, but later on he joins as a full party member. Fighting with a katana, climbing sheer cliffs, swimming the oceans, _all using only his left arm_, and he's still one of the strongest characters in the party even then. He will always be the hero of the Homs in my eyes.
Harkz0r I didn't know a character that first has to learn his limits and then knowingly ignores them can be a Gary Stu. I didn't know a former alcoholic can be a Gary Stu. I didn't know a character with a tough facade but actually "cries alone" and "is a big softie" can be a Gary Stu. I didn't know a character with a visible disability can be a Gary Stu. People are throwing around that word a lot, without even knowing what it means. He's not a Gary Stu. He's a gallant hero.
Former alcoholic? I don't remember alcoholism ever being brought regarding Dunban. Is it mentioned in one of the Heart to Heart conversations or something?
Judging by where Mumkhar was running off to and when you get back to that area later. It is safe to say that Mumkhar should have learned to pay attention to where he goes because he was running to where the enemies base is not to where their base is.
It's been so long since I played this game, I forgot how breathtaking the cutscenes were and how good the facial animations were, despite this game having substandard visuals even for the Wii. Can't wait to see these incredible scenes in HD later this year.
i think that the intro in Xenoblade X needs something else, i mean it's great indeed but it doesn't have that epic feel when you see this great cutscene that fills you with exciting, you know xD this Xenoblade and X are both differents but yet i preffer the one on Wii xD
I honestly want to see a different version of this fight. Which version you ask? Dunban is unconscious, Dickson knows no one else will see, so he transforms to his true form to battle.
oh I just realised the cut between eryth sea and makna forest. Sure you could say that they just went under water but the cut feels too sudden Really makes you think
I love Xenoblade to death. I don't even really like jrpgs personally but damn if this isn't the best story ever in a game. I still play it just to relive this insane story over again
TheDevious I actually haven't played this game yet, but I do own it :P. Just seen couple of gameplay videos, including this one so I know that Mumkhar is only playable during the first battle. My point is that usually guest characters are playable for a little bit longer than 5 minutes but Mumkhar just surpasses every other guest character ever for how useless he actually is. But then again, he does at least fight unlike Pokey from Earthbound.
Oh boy....the voices are awful...as soon as i heard the british voices i changed to Japanese...and I laughed when i saw the subtitle "Mumkhar, you dirty" lol...that's totally not what he says in the Japanese Version
What what whaaaaat? The English British VA's are great, it's all well acted, and they sound like they had fun doing it. Plus the Brit VA's are a nice change of pace from the 7-8 american VA's that seem to be used in every other dubbed game lol
Sylver Nights I'm kinda more turned off that the British Voices just didn't fit with the theme If the characters were Specifically British then it would make sense And the British Voices sounded like Very Heavy Street Dialect...just didn't fit this particular game I mean...it's not 4Kids level bad but you know
Sylver Nights The dialogue is very "japanese"...their behaviour is typical shonen anime behaviour And the British Guys just sound like they took somebody off the pub and told them to voice the characters Anyways I don't mind even terrible dubs in videogames it's just that in Xenoblade characters talk during battle all the time and it gets annoying hearing the british voices("We can definitely do this" just sounds so corny when in English considering how English and Japanese are so different)

Thank you for being one of the contributors to Project Rainfall
*Mumkhar dies*
Me, watching the cutscene: What a weak and pathetic character! Am I glad I'm never gonna see him again...

*_Fancy meeting you here, Monado Boi_*
About that....

Oh Dunban, why must you be such a badass
I can't believe Dunban took down 3 M-104 plus a whole army of other mechons by himself, while I am struggling just to beat one M-104.
Adrian Alvarado That's why he's the Hero of the Homs.
Are you using Anti Mechon Weapons?
how do you know it
Nvm
noice i found randomly my own comment
Prologue B is so fucking epic, really fits with the tension during this scene
What is Prologue B
Brennet HD the name of the music
@@oursinpacifique8269 oh yep it fits very well
1:37 I love how Mumhkar's voice actor starts laughing during the funerals line. Just perfect.
His voice acting is really good
You can tell Tim Watson had a lot of fun playing this character.
Timothy Watson’s best role, easily.
@@TheShanicpower I'd say that goes to Urianger, but Mumkhar is definitely a good one too.
@@skeletonwar4445 still blown away when I found out he was Urianger
That extended zoom out is SO AWESOME. It was the first time I was like "this game is going to be freakin' amazing".
i loved that it showed areas that you would actually visit instead of just random scenery.
It's so good

I love how many fortress units he runs towards near the end. Some of those things can be brutal in and he supposedly takes on about 5-7 of them.

Michael
There's a side quest about a alcoholic Nopon and Dunban reveals that he, too, had problems with drinking.
That's a cool detail that I missed. I tended to put off sidequests until later so they don't make me overleveled.

2:50 imo the best shot in the game
honestly i can wtach these cutscenes for hours, they're so beautifully animated, like a movie, even if it's a less powerful platform
The best games haven't got good graphics but everything else is the best.
Mumkhar reminds of Pigma from Star Fox how he fought beside Fox's father and Peppy but betrays them and joins Star Wolf to fight for Andross
Quite scary that even Mumkhar's eyes were getting targeted. ^^
It's been so long since I played this game, I forgot how breathtaking the cutscenes were and how good the facial animations were, despite this game having substandard visuals even for the Wii. Can't wait to see these incredible scenes in HD later this year.
1:04 gee Dickson, I wonder why
2:40 to 3:15 the most epic intro in video game history
He didn't betray them initially he deserted them there's a difference
To many people, there is no difference. Though you are right. He tried to run away to safety, but he didn't betray their allegiance.
wasn't he betraying them the entire time though? he revealed later on that all he really wanted was the monado and dunban meant nothing to him.
I expected Dunhan to die in this fight, but surprisingly they didn’t follow this trope.
he even joined you early
2:26 Tetris 99 in a nutshell
BEST CHRISTMAS GIFT EVER!
Imagine this on definitive version
i can almost taste it
Just saw it and it was amazing
What does Dunban say when he is reported in an mmo?
Please Dunban me!
Oh my fking god
LOOOOOOOL
"If this is a joke, it ain't funny."

Xenoblade Chronicles X is good...But it's nowhere near as great as the original. In fact, I don't even consider it in the same universe!
@@dwightschrute3712 well it is the same universe. Xenoblade chronicles X is the story before Klaus destroyed the universe.
I honestly want to see a different version of this fight. Which version you ask?
Dunban is unconscious, Dickson knows no one else will see, so he transforms to his true form to battle.
+Jadedcobalt Gildedjade 1st .. no one was asking. 2nd that would be dumb
Alejandro Morales Thank you for your opinion my dear.
That would give everything away...
TonyDaExpert more like in new game + mode you saw that specific version
that seems pretty unnecessary, dickson seems to be able to take care of himself without needing to revert to his true form.
oh I just realised the cut between eryth sea and makna forest.

Mumkhar, get back here!
Mumkhar and Eggman sound so much alike. I know they're different voice actors.
mumkhar Is a british robotnik
Just got through this part in the DE... holy...
2:24 when you enter a botw area with at least one Guardian
This game is so good that on this scene Dunban if right handed...
Que cena épica, no aguardo do meu New 3DS Xl
+Junior Pedro Isso é só o começo do jogo, depois você descobre que o Mumkhar é mais babaca do que você esperava.
Mumkhar is easily the most pathetic guest character in any J-RPG ever: he leaves the party in less than 10 minutes and not even for a good reason.
He was a coward. Just wondering, how far are you in the game?
