Gato roboto was amazing. A perfect example of how strong Art direction is better than just "good graphics" with high resolution. Of course everything else with the game is also really good aswell. Curse of the sea rats does include antropomorphic characters, and for some reason i have a soft spot for rodents in storys. The board game mice and mystics does it really well, i hope this game does aswell.

It's so difficult to choose a Metroidvania since it's my favourite genre... Metroid Dread might be my favourite gameplay-wise, but Super Metroid and Symphony of the Night are still my favourites as a whole.
By the way, I recommend "A Robot named Fight!" For any fan of the genre, specially Metroid fans. It's a fantastic game with lots of replay value because of the procedurally generated levels

I am quite fond of the Metroidvania genre with BLASPHEMOUS (its bloody and dark) being my favorite but I love this one. It reminds me of one of my favorite childhood cartoon movies, An American Tail, which is, obviously, about a mouse. I can't wait to add this to the collection at some point.

I'm glad to see at least one other person pointed it out while not my absolute favourite it deserves a mention for being so unique, A Robot Name Fight! A randomly generated (hand designed room layouts that randomly connect) Metroidvania rogue lite that actually works and works better than a lot of Metroidvanias. It also controls exactly like Super Metroid. Still blows my mind.

Growing up, I mostly only played Legend of Zelda, Pokemon, and FPS games like Call of Duty. Hollow knight is what put me on my original medtroidvania journey. I love progression and backtracking to find old secrets/upgrades. So all that said, definitely Hollow Knight.
Since then I’ve played games that grant that same style of progression and exploration: Super Metroid, Metroid Prime, Ori BF/WoTW, Blasphemous, Haiku, Ender Lillies, monster sanctuary, Death’s Door, Blue Fire, Phoenotopia Awakening, Child of Light, and Tales of Iron (to name a few of my favorites).
I honestly, would have never learned about any of these games if it wasn’t for this channel, so thank you for helping me find my favorite video game genre and promoting quality games :).
Right now I’m playing through Salt and Sanctuary, then, I’ll be playing Vernal Edge. After which, I’ll happily add this one to the backlog if I get a copy! (Else, I’ll probably pick it up on a sale once I catch up).

Gato Roboto is one of my favorite Metrodvanias. I bought it on sale afew years ago and didn't think much of it. It sat in my backlog for a while until I played it a few months ago. I bought HK when I bought my Switch (about 4 years ago) and it took me 3 attempts over the period of last 3 years to actually go and complete the game. Once I really put in the effort what a ride it was! So much content to clear and controls are so satisfying. Beating *Path of Pain* seems like my biggest accomplishment. It took me a few hours to clear that platforming challenge but not once I felt like the game cheated me.

Gotta go with the Metroid series as my favorite.. specifically Metroid Prime, I loved it when it first came out and I'm extremely happy with the remake! I think it's the atmosphere that makes it for me, really makes you feel isolated on an unfamiliar world

I been keeping my eye on this game for awhile.. I was excited to finally see it was available. Then the issue with the bug was a big let down.
Glad to hear they fixed it. Definitely putting this back on my log to get again!

Iconoclasts is not the strongest in terms of being a Metroidvania, but it has some really good boss fights.

Is it cheating to say Super Metroid? One of the most definitive of the genre and Nintendo's Metroid franchise. However, staying with the nautical theme, another favorite of mine is Shantae and the Pirate's Curse. Everything about it works excellently while boasting lovely visuals, wit, tight controls, an interesting narrative, personality, and music to boot.

Mmm... I haven't played that many metroidvania games yet, so I don't have much to choose from. I feel I should say Ori and the Blind Forest is my favourite one (I haven't played Ori and the Will of the Wisps yet), at least from an emotional standpoint, and it certainly is high on my list of favorite games, but if I'm honest I actually had even more fun playing Yoku's Island Express (which does qualify as a metroidvania, I checked 😁). The pinball mechanic gives it that extra bit of whimsicality that makes me come back to it once in a while to try and get the last collectibles, while I haven't gone back to Ori once since I completed it (but I loved it while I was playing). So yeah, maybe a strange choice but I'll stick with it: Yoku's Island Express. Bet that won't be a common choice!

My favourite metroidvania on switch is probably Bloodstained Ritual of the Knight. It’s by no means the best one but the difficulty level and art style just tickles all the right senses in my brain - reminds me a lot of my first metroidvania Castlevania Dawn of Sorrow on DS 😢

Not an easy question to answer... There's been many metroidvanias over the years, but the one that I've never been able to forget and that left most of an impact on me has to be Metroid Prime back on the GC. What retro studios did with a franchise that many of us dreaded was dead was amazing. Didn't Hurt either that the game itself was pure magic.

Favorite Metroivania? It WAS Metroid Prime (back in the day). Ori and the Will of the Wisps, though, is SO good that it’s my new pick. The big escapes and boss fights are just incredible. But I’d like to try this piRATe game.

Favorite metrovania? That's a hard one. Definitely my favorite genre. So I'm gonna go with one I recently played. "The Aquatic Adventure of the Last Human"
I really enjoyed exploring the world and the boss fights were challenging. The music really added to the atmosphere. Mainly it's the mysterious feel the game has. At the begin it gives you really nothing to go on. Throughout the game you get these updates about what happened. Still leaving you wondering. The game really gives you that you're the last vibe thou the game.
