not sure if you'll reply in time, but are you allowed to apply theories that aren't for the specific topic e.g. Van Zoonen(representation) for Vogue (media language) ?
so for Vogue we need to write about the media language on the front cover and in the cutex advert.? Could you please answr soon my exam is tommorrow afternoon
is it possible to simplify these points such as the naturalisation point just saying it becomes normalised as its difficult to comprehend a lot of the points unless i repeat the video
@@ank4468 Yes, you should focus on these two. It helps to have a broader understanding of the purpose of The Big Issue and the history of Vogue, but your examples should come from these two set texts.
@@MrSmithEnglishandMedia by terminology I mean words. For example in vogue advert there are phrases like “bare essientials” and “birthday suit” which connotes how women are sexualised. If I analyse the words in a media language question does it count?

Sorry Archie, I don’t teach The Returned.
Thanks Paul
Thank you for this 🙏 can I reference any part of what you have mentioned here or will it ask specifically for things, eg the vogue front cover?
You’ll be able to reference any part of each text

The front cover and any of the articles within - cutex, imperial leather, picnic, heatwave - you can take your examples from any of them.

Body language and posture definitely does. I’m not sure what you mean by terminology - could you be more specific?

Are they going to ask us to compare or just talk about both magazines in one question rather than two separate questions?
You’ll just need to talk about both magazines in one question
The ML question was worded so stupidly - still did a decent job…
What did everyone else think of it?
yeah i wasn’t sure if i was meant to actually write the strengths and weaknesses of semiotic analysis. what did you write?
I was so confused by that question, I saw someone on Twitter say that it was apparently a degree level question
