I went to the Aces vs. Mercury game last night and saw first hand how Kate is adapting. Very wonderful to see. Even though she didn’t score, she made a difference with her defensive play and movement. When I saw her match up with DT, I know she musta been saying, ‘What is my life right now…? I’m guarding DT and she’s guarding me…!’ She was given the ‘Rookie’ treatment by the refs, for sure - but that is to be expected. Once she gets her shots to fall, the Aces will be a big problem more than they already are. It’s going to be fun to watch her growth, as well as D. Fair’s.

re Investigation: Celebrating that the Aces have sold out the majority of their home games and the city not sponsoring them, would be bananas. I can imagine the increase in bookings and gambling happening. Throw in a few Aces meet up off season, and they get fans in the city off season. Wanting to sponsor them just makes sense. Also, charter flight rollout is an unfair advantage IMHO so there’s that. They pick and chose when to stand toes down on unfair advantage
A local media outlet looked into the aces deal and the WNBA has no grounds to stop it. The WNBA has their claw out for the aces. If it were any other team they would not have said a word. Kate Martin and I not only have similar taste in hot sauce, but similar musical tastes, lol. I love old school and I love Fleetwood Mac (Christine McVie is responsible for a lot of their hidden gems to me) and 70% of the time you’ll find me listening to music from the 70s and 80s.
Even a smaller market like Indianapolis has big corporations headquartered there to step up to the plate and sponsor each player of a team like the Las Vegas tourism committee did with the aces.
The reason for the investigation is likely due to Mark Davis being the owner of both the Aces and the Raiders. As such, he has influence in the LVCVA's actions. This provides a round about mechanism for Mark Davis to circumvent the W's collective bargaining agreement as well as any franchise agreements. I think it would be silly to think the league doesn't fully comprehend the public perception but lawyers rarely care about public perception.
You mean the league that only provided charters from 2 teams, that league? I think it is silly that they didnt think of putting this in the CBA clearly (because NO, they didn't). This city grew this team and has supported them during growth. As such they are seeing a return and want to expand that return. They can fight that battle in the current negotiations, but they already look bad for the charter thing (especially after fining NY for doing EXACTLY what they turned around and did). The league needs an overhaul

As someone who lives in Las Vegas the LVCVA and the City of Las Vegas are two different things. LVCVA is a marketing company and the other is a government entity. The city didn’t give the Aces money.
