Everyone's talking about the soprano sax and Eb clarinet solos...but are we really going to ignore that killer bass trombone feature? Come on people, that was frickin amazing! That guy has got some serious lung power to play that loud without a mic!
This is among the best use of scales I've ever seen. The ascending and descending scale sections across the entire band were very well used. the show has probably the greatest theatrical effect I've ever seen. This is a band that really knows how to have fun, and you can respect that no matter what level you're at.
God this show gives me chills!!! I especially loved the beginning with the music that sounded like it was from Signs and also the scene with the bed rising. INCREDIBLE.
My favorite HS band shows. Good work Tarpon! On a side note, I tried to chase someone around with an Eb clarinet until that restraining order got put against me. ;-)
This is an incredible show, they have always had an amazing group. I remember being in the warmup lot next to then in the RCA dome and convention center in 1997 at boa grand nationals. We were separated by a curtain but I could hear their woodwinds warning up and I though , "damn these guys can play who is this band?!?!" I have been a fan of tarpon springs ever since. It was on honor to share the field with them in finals that year.
carsonlmao it's called fundraising and band fees. Our dads make our props. And this year our fees is $3,000 , $1,400 for marching season and $1,600 for concert season
Graduated from Bell in 2010, went to see our band perform the year after and saw Tarpon Springs perform that year. I thought this show should have won. My favorite show EVER out of EVERY show I've ever seen. Incredible. I really love how BOA played Haunted by Evanescence directly afterward their show in Finals too. :p Been a while since this show, but Congrats again anyway on such a BRILLIANT show.
Why don't we just acknowledge that this is an incredibly talented group whose kids put in a helluva lot of time and effort? I think that would be the best thing to do.
Props are made by parents...budget is funded by fundraising efforts, donations and a lot of hard work! It is no easy task and Disney does not and has never sponsored their shows.
My son was in the band for three years and I was a volunteer uniform mom for those years. I know how it worked. I paid those fees and participated in the fundraising every year.
kingjoshey she’s correct though. We weren’t Tarpon Springs, but my band had large fees and a large budget to fill as well. I spent my summer and winter breaks doing fund raisers (which were fun) and I raised thousands within my first 2 years that it was enough to pay off my junior and senior years. I had a few hundred bucks left from those fund raisers when graduation came that I passed off to someone that wasn’t able to attend as many as I was able to (family vacations & other reasons) . At the end of the day we all supported each other and no one was left behind
You guys are amazing. You are on a whole other level compared to any band in the state of Florida. I cannot wait to see your show Oct 20th. We are all excited, this is the first time our school will be competing there.
Always amazed at the variety and originality that bands and corps come up with. This was a fun show. The levitation part made me whoop! If you were a part of this show, you should be proud. :)
I am in awe of this HIGH SCHOOL marching band! Most colleges couldn't shake a stick at this show. I'd even put it up there with DCI (Drum Corp International). I am proud U.S. Sailor from Florida. GREAT WORK! Aloha from Hawaii.
East River HS. We are only 4 years old. We have been to State twice the first year as a 2a and came in 4th. Last year as a 3a and came in 5th. This year we aren't going, they wanted to have an off year. Just cannot wait to see what you are doing this year. What a creative mind your director has.
The purest essence of Arts Education to give the students a medium to present themselves with the highest convictions. Giving access to the joy and thrill of performance builds confidence and self-esteem to create and contribute to matters larger than themselves.
If you didn't get to see this show in person then you really don't understand how incredible it was. Trust me they march and play plenty. Not to mention I was fortunate enough to watch the band rehearse, meet the kids, parents and the band directors, Kevin Ford and Bob Barfield. They are a great group of people. They are not built out of money. The band boosters work very hard to raise the funds to pull off this kind of thing.
Dear Tarpon Springs- Paranormal was a wickedly awesome show, and you all did a fantastic job. I fully regret not being able to see this live last year now, and not being able to remember to look this up until now. Paranormal was fantastic! Sincerely, a fellow Marching-Bander.
This was my freshmen show, this year we have been invited to go to the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade and we need all of the support and assistance we can get, we have 2 links and if you can donate that'd be amazing and we thank you for showing your support if you can't donate that's ok too and thanks for just watching this video but you can help just by sharing those links :) thank you so much everyone
I love Etiwanda (I grew up marching h.s. band in the 90s), but they never even approached the level of creativity that is Tarpon Springs puts forth. Tapron Springs is in a league of it's own.
Oh, I see. I've had encounters with a few of them and the ones I've met are nice. But no program is full of perfect people so I can understand how you may have met some less than desirable ones. I can't really vouch too much for them given that I'm not really affiliated with the program. But it goes without saying, they're a fantastic group!
The girl by the bed was playing the soprano sax. The guy that was chasing around the girl and had that epic solo with the harmonizer, is the one with the Eb clarinet, otherwise known as the piccolo clarinet, pitched a fourth above Bb clarinet.
Tarpon's always had a very strong woodwind group even this year's proformance gives you chills im proud to be a tarpon springs high school sdnior class of 2014
This show was amazing and the guard was in character the entire time which was awesome :) although... I love the fact that this is pretty much a winterguard show, but on the field...
@DrummerFOaDolla if you look closely, there was a pole behind on the head post. It's like a seesaw so there's probably a few band members from the back pushing the pole down. When they do that, it lifts the board she is lying on.
Frank Sullivan, he also writes all the music for my high school too, East Coweta, and he has for about 5 years now. He also used to write for the blue stars DCI corps but the relationship got fuzzy, he's a great guy and amazing to work with!
ooooh goodness. I gotta say, after seeing this I'm nervous about Seminole this week. but I can't wait to see Tarpon's performance this year, now that I know what to expect. :)
This is super awesome. i love the soprano sax. There is a lot of electronics but its still the band playing too. I love the whole concept of this show. ....Clarinet player you ROCK!...how does she float? Good job marching band! You guys must put in a lot of practice ! :D
How do we all handle the criticism? Well, we just take it. We are unique, we are performers, and all we want to do is put out the best show that we can. If people don't like that, then so be it, we still performed the best we could.
Everyone's talking about the soprano sax and Eb clarinet solos...but are we really going to ignore that killer bass trombone feature? Come on people, that was frickin amazing! That guy has got some serious lung power to play that loud without a mic!
ikr
Was that you.
opens door, "OH GOD NO ANYTHING BUT A CLARINET SOLO!" 😂😂😂😂
OH NOOOOOOOO
It's called a soprano sax. Not a Clarinet.
I think he mean't at 8:15 . That's a clarinet.
***** yeah I've played sax since I was 12. I clearly wasn't talking about that solo.
Well they can be scary if the clarinetist is extremely bad
Why is that part at 8:10 literally the funniest thing I've ever seen in my life. That clarinet jumping out is great xD
+HalloLeute lmaoo I was thinking the same thing, of all the instruments to scare someone it had to be a clarinet
Because it is hilarious. You have a great sense of humor.
This is among the best use of scales I've ever seen. The ascending and descending scale sections across the entire band were very well used.
the show has probably the greatest theatrical effect I've ever seen.
This is a band that really knows how to have fun, and you can respect that no matter what level you're at.
Can BOA please get mrvideoonline to record for BOA events again? Flomarching is garbage quality and I also miss DVDs of Grand Nationals
I remember watching this show and we just loved it. This was definitely my favorite show that year.
Say what you will, this is my favorite band show I've seen
God this show gives me chills!!! I especially loved the beginning with the music that sounded like it was from Signs and also the scene with the bed rising. INCREDIBLE.
I'm pretty proud! (Eb Soloist)
Joey Velez lmao that moment where you came out of the door was hilarious
@@Bren9431 That was the clarinet that came out of the door?!?
As you should!
Literally one of my favorite solos ever. And my favorite highschool show of all time
What was that whole features original music? Wicked amazing job!!!
As a sax soloist myself-- mad props to that soprano girl. Her solos were stuff of absolute awe.
Its 2018. I was in band all through high school. Seen a TON of DCI and BOA shows. And this is still by far my favorite show ever!!!!
To this day this is still the most exciting High School show I have ever seen! Well Done Tarpon Springs! Can't Wait to see you guys next weekend!
To me, this is one of the best shows of all time by a high school band because it keeps your attention musically and visually from start to finish.
My favorite HS band shows. Good work Tarpon! On a side note, I tried to chase someone around with an Eb clarinet until that restraining order got put against me. ;-)
THIS SHOW IS UNREAL... what a concept. Bravo to you guys!!! Good luck this year at Grand Nationals!
Even 3 years later this is the most memorable show I've ever seen.
Whenever I'm feeling sad I come watch this and then I just get pumped up for the next marching show
you arent alone
This is an incredible show, they have always had an amazing group. I remember being in the warmup lot next to then in the RCA dome and convention center in 1997 at boa grand nationals. We were separated by a curtain but I could hear their woodwinds warning up and I though , "damn these guys can play who is this band?!?!" I have been a fan of tarpon springs ever since. It was on honor to share the field with them in finals that year.
that was freaking epic
I'm a Golden Regiment kid but...wow!!! I loved that show!
This is my favorite high school marching band show ever. they are SO good.
the budget for tarpon has to be insane
carsonlmao it's called fundraising and band fees. Our dads make our props. And this year our fees is $3,000 , $1,400 for marching season and $1,600 for concert season
That is insane lol, ours is like 600 for state years, 450 for normal years
Pen Dancer hey do know what the piece at 7:47 is
Elizabeth Garcia no clue, sorry
Pen Dancer wtf ours was $300. We raised it to $450 this year and ppl got mad
That Eb Clarinet soloist is SICK!
For sure! Joey was a very talented and very nice young man. Still is!
Agreed and just their band in general is amazing
This is my most favorite show ever.
The clarinet was amazing, and that soprano sax was beautiful. =)
Every year our marching band goes to Tarpon Springs for competition and its truly an amazing experience to see their shows in person.
Why don't we just acknowledge that this is an incredibly talented group whose kids put in a helluva lot of time and effort? I think that would be the best thing to do.
For those who say this isn't marching band are wrong this is marching band taken to the next level
There should be no reason a program of this size and accomplishment is without a battery.
the music doesn't call for battery
Aaron Gonzalez
Bullshit
There is a battery now, as a part of the program i can tell you that..
taby lowrimore
finally
maybe the drill designers thought that a drumline just wouldn't look right in this scenario
Talk about a band with a budget.
Props are made by parents...budget is funded by fundraising efforts, donations and a lot of hard work! It is no easy task and Disney does not and has never sponsored their shows.
+Michelle DeSenti they have an initial fee of 1300 dollars + fund raisers so they have a lot of money. This year they have a float in their show
My son was in the band for three years and I was a volunteer uniform mom for those years. I know how it worked. I paid those fees and participated in the fundraising every year.
Michelle DeSenti My mom was a uniform mom when I was in band up in VA!!
kingjoshey she’s correct though. We weren’t Tarpon Springs, but my band had large fees and a large budget to fill as well. I spent my summer and winter breaks doing fund raisers (which were fun) and I raised thousands within my first 2 years that it was enough to pay off my junior and senior years. did the soprano sax girl march the whole show with sprano sax?
or did she just play for the solos
She may have only played for the solos, but there's a soprano part in the music for a marcher.
Back before they had a drumline. This was the year we beat them at Seminole Sound Invitational for drums!
lol go lake howell :)
This is easily one of the best TPOPE performances. Thanks right up there with Poisoned and the Man vs Machine show that won Grand Nationals in 2014.
my God. We don't have the words in our human vocabulary to describe this show. Simply amazing.
Marching season come all ready!!!
Im rewatching this again and it never fails to impress me.
I am in awe of this HIGH SCHOOL marching band! Most colleges couldn't shake a stick at this show. I'd even put it up there with DCI (Drum Corp International). I am proud U.S. Sailor from Florida. GREAT WORK! Aloha from Hawaii.
Seriously???? why is this video not at a MILLION VIEWS YET!!!
East River HS. We are only 4 years old. We have been to State twice the first year as a 2a and came in 4th. Last year as a 3a and came in 5th. This year we aren't going, they wanted to have an off year. Just cannot wait to see what you are doing this year. What a creative mind your director has.
Every little thing about this show was amazing!
7 years later and still amazing. Not surprised when they won 1st at BOA Orlando on October.
My school was pretty dang close to making the top 10.
Tell me you listen to this while doing homework without telling me you listen to this while doing homework.
The purest essence of Arts Education to give the students a medium to present themselves with the highest convictions. Giving access to the joy and thrill of performance builds confidence and self-esteem to create and contribute to matters larger than themselves.
I am speechless, that was amazing!
I simply cant understand how the Eb clarinet does that at 10:14. How on earth
one of the few shows that make me proud to be a clarinet. WOODWIND PRIDE
Oh my God. Eb Clarinet solo.
Oh my God. You're doing it right.
I wish their band would play as much as they used to
They do! Look up their performance caged (last years show)
the show was amazing and you all did awesome!!
If you didn't get to see this show in person then you really don't understand how incredible it was. Trust me they march and play plenty. Good Luck! I hope you enjoy performing the show!
I love tarpon springs. Especially there performance paranormal
Damn good show
That clarinet solo and those high woodwind parts are Soooo epic!!
It seems almost lifetimes ago when I marched this show. No better way to end a high school career: )
This really proves band size doesn't matter
Just saw their 2011 show. It blows this one away! In my opinion go tarpon :)
This was my freshmen show, this year we have been invited to go to the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade and we need all of the support and assistance we can get, we have 2 links and if you can donate that'd be amazing and we thank you for showing your support if you can't donate that's ok too and thanks for just watching this video but you can help just by sharing those links :) thank you so much everyone
how did that girl in the yellow dress float?
@theplaytester2 Some of the music is based on the movie Signs, you can hear it in the preshow and other places.
My favorite marching show ever
the beginning gave me chills
That individual marching is just so incredible.
The Eb clarinet soloist and soprano sax soloist...I can't describe how awesome they sounded...
that clarinet solo is sooo BEAST!
I love Etiwanda (I grew up marching h.s. band in the 90s), but they never even approached the level of creativity that is Tarpon Springs puts forth. Tapron Springs is in a league of it's own.
Tampon strings is even better in person . I love watching them at comps
This was back when i respected this band.
i loved this show. But that's bout it
Out of curiosity, what made you lose respect?
I met some people in the band
Oh, I see. I've had encounters with a few of them and the ones I've met are nice. But no program is full of perfect people so I can understand how you may have met some less than desirable ones. I can't really vouch too much for them given that I'm not really affiliated with the program.

that was amazing......i think that was way better than any of avon's shows
Tarpon's always had a very strong woodwind group even this year's proformance gives you chills im proud to be a tarpon springs high school sdnior class of 2014
the line this year is pretty epic hopefully it will stay that way through out the season this is my first year on the drumline #flub line
I been there! It was amazing in person to see it !!
Amazing show !
This show was amazing and the guard was in character the entire time which was awesome :)
although... I love the fact that this is pretty much a winterguard show, but on the field...

that show went on forever...
Frank Sullivan, he also writes all the music for my high school too, East Coweta, and he has for about 5 years now. He also used to write for the blue stars DCI corps but the relationship got fuzzy, he's a great guy and amazing to work with!
i love this show
Clarinet solo in the end was AMAZING!!!!
if i ever become a teacher and a band director i will let this become our school marching show cause it intese and it would be a good one too
You are right. I didn't even notice they didn't have a battery. The story was just so captivating.
I remeber the first time seeing them I was shocked I loved them and will always do. Everytime I see this I get chills.
great show!!!
Dude that soprano sax was amazing
ooooh goodness. I gotta say, after seeing this I'm nervous about Seminole this week. but I can't wait to see Tarpon's performance this year, now that I know what to expect. :)
i love this show!

Ok can anyone tell me what pieces they used??? Primarily the woodwind feature around the 9:00 minute mark????
Oh thank you.
I saw this band last year at nationals I go to logan elm and this show is amazing
you should see what osceola high school is playing this year i heard it is called connexus
This is sick!! Well done!!
This is amazing!
Excellent Performance
How do we all handle the criticism? Well, we just take it. We are unique, we are performers, and all we want to do is put out the best show that we can. If people don't like that, then so be it, we still performed the best we could.
Whoever wrote their drill was GENIUS
The drill writer for tarpon is Kevin Ford, Tarpon’s band director.
