      The great thing about this being on RUclips is he can probably break even. Even so, it's pretty swell of him to go trim a singular cow.

    • @albedo5606
      @albedo5606 3 года назад +76

      @@OliverKrystal He said "customer" so she paid him for the trimming. No idea what it costed. But it's nice that Hoof GP would see her when he's got such a full schedule. Because the farmer couldn't get another trimmer to help, so I'm really glad he helped. Edit: you don't know how much she paid him. You may think everything is heaven and roses, but I don't think he drove all the way over there for $10. In fact, if it was only $10, he would have just done it for free.

      Yes, it's their spa lol. Yknow how the crush sorta lifts them so theyre supported by the sling belts, it must feel so great to get all that weight off. Though I recognize it's natural for hoofs to support a large animal, I wonder if it's like how humans are generally prone to back problems (due to spine curves for upright bipedalism) and high rate of knee injury in female athletes (due to Q angle, ie pelvises wide enough to accommodate the neonatal head in vag birth push the limits of how far a knee-to-pelvis angle can be while retaining bipedalism...) anyway, I wonder in cow anatomy what the evolutionary trade offs are regarding such relatively small hooves on such a large animal, or if it was the same pre-domestication etc.

    One of my friends takes her horse to a hoof trim meeting that is set up for owners of one or two horses. They have about 30 horses in all that come to one ranch. That way they don’t have the farrier running all over the place. Maybe that’s something the owners of the single cows can do

    • @sarahkoebler7428
      @sarahkoebler7428 3 года назад +15

      I think in a lot of cases, not only are the cows not handled the way horses are and therefore much more difficult to get into a trailer, but a lot of them may not have a trailer at all. Farmed cows also have a higher rate of communicable diseases that would be a potential risk as well.

    • @alexisgrunden1556
      @alexisgrunden1556 3 года назад +4

      They'd still have to book a block appointment time, which can be very difficult for a number of people to do (try scheduling a MMORPG raid for a guild, or a D&D game sometime!). And if they don't have a trailer to transport their cows, then they're SOL anyways.
      If there's enough single-cow owners locally, creating a community chat online for them all might help them to coordinate, and help them get to Graeme.

    Katy’s owner must be pleased as punch that their girl is now a movie star and she spent time with the world renowned Hoof GP and Craigy Boy! Lol. Nice hearts you both have to give an old girl such a lovely pedicure and make her feel youthful again.

    Lovely to see some more gorgeous scenery. Thank you. Graham (Hoof GP) wasn’t joking when he mentioned how high up and cold it is in that part of Dumfries and Galloway. I have a friend who lives in that area, and his is the highest village in Scotland. I visited it myself thirty-five years ago. Precious memories of a wonderful holiday. Katie is a stunning animal. What a loving, caring owner.

    Whoops not finished yet- your
    compassion for such a humble
    creature that no one ever considers as having a value inspires a feeling and a desire to see how we as human beings can do so much better to take care of creatures who are subject to the people who own
    them. I truly hope and pray that you inspire a movement to take care of and consider the well being - and doing it in the spirit of excellence like you do - of all creatures who’s lives depend on human beings. You are inspiring and appreciated - God bless you!!! 🐄 ♥️

      Cows can be really sloppy animals if they like you. I used to walk past a herd of milkers at roughly the same time as they were let out from field to go home. One of them stopped, turned her head and slurped from my chin to top of my forehead. Lovely gesture, but it played hell with my glasses.
