Prince was our Mozart, he mastered over 14 instruments by age 17, he could dance, sing any note, rap, he wrote, arranged, performed ALL his music, including wrote hits for other artists, he has covered almost every genre, Metal, Punk rock, hip hop, pop, r&b, soul, jazz, blues, country, ambience, classical, techno, house, instrumental, meditation. The Multi-Genre God. He could play anything, and your favorite artists have been deeply influenced by him. Corey Taylor, Whitney Houston, Steve Vai, Elton John, Stevie Wonder, Young Thug, 2PAC, H.E.R. , Paul Mccartney, all worship Prince to just name a few.
Prince recorded his first 2 albums at 16 all by himself, all instruments, lyrics, arrangement, composition & vocals were all by him. He was such a prodigy, that music executives wanted proof, they would fly across country just to see if he could really play all instruments, because it was so unheard of. Prince has over 50 official released albums and when he passed, they found over 10 thousand unreleased Prince music in his vault. He then came into the business and was the FIRST to fight for artists rights, and he WON. He would write "slave" on his cheek and go to meetings protesting against the industry. Prince was also one of the first artists to sell his music on the internet. You are talking about the most talented artist we will ever see.

Prince on this channel. Let's go. This clip is from the movie and that's why the silence in the beginning doesn't make sense. A tragedy happened before. First big one for me was When Doves Cry so check that one out, extended version and Little Red Corvette made him a household name.

I feel like for most people the first Prince song that hooked them was either I Wanna Be Your Lover (1979), or Little Red Corvette (1983). Those were his first two big hits.

Welcome to the Purple World! Lol Prince is a MASSIVE Treasure Trove & him & his music is the gift that never stops giving! His first big hit was the song “I Wanna Be Your Lover” in 1979. He wouldn’t have another hit song until 1983 with the smash song “Little Red Corvette”, his first Top 10 pop hit. The song that made me notice him was “1999” off the “1999” album (also where Little Red Corvette” comes from). The song that blew him up was “When Doves Cry” in 1984 off of “Purple Rain”., his very first #1 hit & the biggest song of 84. That’s a song you gotta review and it MUST be the Extended version (it’s the whole song) NOT the Official Music Video one cause it cuts the song off & cuts off the great stuff! If you have to put a film on the video to review the Extended version, put it on there anyway cause the whole song is 🔥🔥🔥 & you gotta hear it! And keep on going further in the 80’s, the 90’s, the 2000’s and the 2010’s with Prince too! The music was amazing all the way to the end.
Here’s hoping you have a blast discovering Prince & his incredible music!!! You’ll be glad you did!!! 💜💜💜

MJ was an entertainer and G rated
Prince an all round musician and his music mostly for Adults. Prince created entire albums on his own.
The clip you chose is from the movie Purple Rain. Prince wrote everything for this movie. The story behind When Doves Cry is iconic. Every song on the album is fantastic.... listen to the entire album, then you will realise you need to go back to the late 70's and start from the beginning. Once you reach 2016 you will start going through over 8,000 unreleased volt tracks 💜

@purplelove1933 You say Prince is for adults but I started really listening to him when I was 12 in 1984 and Purple Rain was the first album I had on cassette. Before When Doves Cry I had heard 1999 and Little Red Corvette on the radio but didn’t really know who he was.

@@tracynorman1455 I got aboard the Prince train when I was 12, too. But collectively speaking, Prince's music catalog is definitely more mature and geared to adolescent and adult audiences than children in terms of lyrics and subject matter (1999 touches on the apocalypse). Doesn't mean his music didn't still appeal to kids (it did) and doesn't mean he didn't have some G-rated songs in that vast catalog of his (he did), but if comparing Prince to Mike, Prince was definitely more R-rated and MJ more G-rated. Even in Little Red Corvette P. sings about used condoms and jockies riding horses (trojans), and says "@ss" on the lengthier album version that was getting played all over the radio back in the 1980s.

Wendy's facial expression after the on-stage kiss was because the song performance proceeds a tragic event in the movie (that explains the strange reaction at the start by the audience - they were aware of the family tragedy). Anyway, dive in hard and do his whole Superbowl performance (not just the rendition of Purple Rain) - it's only about 15 min and you'll see a wide range of what he can do.

We can heap well-deserved and hard-earned praise on Prince's head all day, every day, without needing to compare or lessen the impact of another artist. Prince and Mike both worked extremely hard to become the legendary artists that both were. Personally, I'm of the opinion the world is a much better and brighter place for having been graced for many years by both of these luminaries. Let's please keep it classy and appreciate each artist on their own terms. I think Prince would want us to show some grace here to MJ and his fan base. A lot of us Prince fans love MJ's work too.
