This is a truly tremendous recording, packed with emotion and mourning - much more so than more recent recordings which I have heard. The percussion is absolutely fantastic, and provides a magnificent introduction for the rest of the band. In fairness to more recent renditions, the tempo is slower than when the march is played on parade, rather than the the normal slow march pace (though I have not timed it); but it is surely and enduring tribute by the Grenadiers to King George V💂♂💂♂💂♂

I completely agree. The other side of the 78 gets the same treatment - Chopin funeral march - I'll upload it later today.
My favorite funeral march.
A fitting epitaph to what the UK has become today.
All perfomances now are in a much higher tempo. Why?
No idea! No deliberate policy on my behalf..
