The IL-62 Flight Experience - CUBANO STYLE!!

Cuba is famous for more than just Old Havana, the Malecon, Old 1950s cars and the rhythms of Cubano music. The country's national airline used to operate fleet comprised of a bevy of Iron Curtain Classic jetliners, including of course the iconic IL-62 four holer. Our intrepid videographer Chris Mak payed a visit to Cuba back in January of 2008, and filmed 2 amazing flights on the Cubana IL-62, between Santo Domingo and Havana, and between Havana and Bogota. It is spinning, maybe the video camera shutter gives an optical illusion.

The Soloviev D-30KU is a low bypass turbofan, it has inlet guide vanes to guide more air into the engine.
