Once you’ve pinpointed the coordinates of your position (or of your destination or a point of interest along the way), you can use them to figure out your location on a map, plot a course, or communicate where you are to rescuers if you’re in a jam.

I really hate to say this but I still don't know how to read latitude and longitude coordinates after watching this video. Can we get sample coordinates to learn from in the next video? For example, if I provide 46° 9′ N and 98° 6′ W, where am I located?????? I have no freaking clue. . . please help.

I think a lot of the confusion that you’re seeing about this video is for 3 reasons.
1) There is a mislabeling of latitude and longitude lines around the 1:50 mark. Longitude lines are evenly spaced and run north south, latitude lines are unevenly spaced and run east west around the entire globe.
2) You gave little to no visual information alongside the verbal. It’s just talking; about something that is inherently quite visual. Just describing the numbering system doesn’t give people a sense of what longitude and latitude coordinates format actually looks like and how to read them.
3) You didn’t give any specific examples or compare and contrast different location’s latitude and longitude coordinates so that people could get a sense of how they work.

Can anyone please tell me how to say this location? Lat / Lon: N 26° 27.700' / W 080° 03.833' Is it 26 degrees 27 minutes 7 seconds North and then 80 degrees 3 minutes and 833 seconds West
