  • This week, we’re talking all about “Teachers.” Ned clashes with Mr. Sweeney, Moze has a new student teacher in math, and devises a plan to get the students to listen to him, while Cookie is distracted by the beautiful Ms. Enstile. The gang talks about their most memorable teachers, those who left a positive (and negative!) mark on their lives, and what it was like going through puberty on TV.
Why did Daniel flip off his teacher? What made Lindsey self-conscious about her boobs? Tune in now!

It happens a lot earlier for some girls so I was 11 and I brought back up underwear and dropped it. So my teacher gave a speech about finding it and was like “we passed them around laughing in the teachers lounge” bc it was silly and cute to them I think. I was dying of embarrassment even tho no one knew they were mine. But the funniest part is the teacher offered for whoever’s they were to come get them anonymously and I DID. I wasn’t about to lose my most comfortable pair.

The part about periods made me so happy!! It still blows my mind that in 2023 men are still using the insult "are you on your period?" when a woman shows any sort of anger/resentment. Like bro...that's all you got for me? You don't have a single argument for the actual issue I'm speaking about??

Always a good time with this unholy trinity. Their real life personalities are FAR more entertaining than their tv personas. Absolutely applaud the rawness and candor shown by these three. OH, and I feel Ms. Shaw regarding her chest insecurities. I was a ballet dancer who was 95 pounds soaking wet, yet couldn't get my chest smaller than a 32D. I layered so many camis just to try to make myself appear flatter and look more "elegant" in costumes. Definitely fed into insecurities about my body.
Respectfully-disagree about the period talk. Well, some parts. Many women with Endo, PCOS, fibroids, or any other number of common albeit debilitating menstruations-related conditions absolutely dread a certain level of monthly Hell that even Dante couldn't have fathomed. But, no ones feelings were hurt. Everyone has their own experiences:)
BTW, I'll do whatever possible to keep this beautifully-chaotic podcast going.
    Hugs,
    Becks

Exactly this! I’ve got PCOS and my period is absolute hell. I don’t begrudge people who do enjoy it or feel the way she does about it, but my personal experience would never let me look forward to it or enjoy it because of the more difficult aspects of it. I definitely agree that the stigma is old and tired, people need to grow up and stop shaming it- that’s something I advocate for a lot in my personal life. But wow, yeah I can’t imagine being able to enjoy it.

As a person that worked as an educator, one thing I learned is that you don't have to dress the best, yell, or be overly strict to gain respect from students. It's hard to gain respect from so many diverse personalities. But the best thing to do is show confidence, be secure within yourself, focus on your goals as a teacher, show a genuine interest in your students, be adaptable/open-minded, and keep your classroom engaging. It is a difficult task, but for many teachers it comes naturally.

The way Lindsay feels about periods is how I feel about farting/burping. Like it's a natural body function that we could LITERALLY DIE from if we couldn't do it just from the gastrointestinal buildup and we have been SO conditioned as a society to be so ashamed of it, we LITERALLY APOLOGIZE/EXCUSE ourselves for it. Like is the smell bad? Sure, but at the same time, it's a bodily function that is as natural as breathing; you can't NOT fart/burp!
And I'm not saying we should just go around farting on people or burping in their faces but it's sad that if we are feeling gassy or whatever, we have to feel embarrassed about it. Another problem I have is Acid Reflux. I literally take medications because of how bad my Acid Reflux is and it's just sad. It feels bad so I don't mind taking it but just the embarrassment of grossing out a whole room saddens me and what saddens me more is the embarrassment? Takes priority over the feeling. I don't take them because I hate how Acid Reflux makes me feel, I take them because I hate how others make ME feel about it. Like I've literally called in to work because my Acid Reflux was so bad, I was too embarrassed to be around people. It sucks that we have not only been conditioned to feel ashamed of it but compelled to MAKE people feel ashamed of it by drawing attention to it. Like if someone goes "LOOK, MA, NO HANDS" and then blows ass, then you can be like "OHH YOU SMELLY FUCK!" But if it's clear somebody is trying to hold it in or not make a scene, I hate it when someone will be like "ahh fuck; who farted?" Like that phrase? Can make me go from the highest of highs to the lowest of lows INSTANTANEOUSLY! I don't know if it's like a power dynamic people feel when they say that shit like how they can change the whole vibe of an environment by pointing that out or whatever but it's just...SUCH a DICK move to INTENTIONALLY humiliate someone! Like something like that can have a SERIOUS impact! A few years ago, I was in such a bad place mentally, I was in a Psychiatric facility, and I think I was rapping for some other patients in there and everyone thought it was so dope, we were just having a blast and I felt on top of the world. Suddenly my Acid Reflux acted up and it built up in my chest and I couldn't hold it in so I just let out a quiet burp; nobody heard it but a few seconds passed and suddenly, someone was like "oh man, who farted?" And immediately, this entire group of people were just like "oh my god, that's gross" and I just casually walked away but I seriously felt SOO embarrassed that BECAUSE of the depths I had already sunk to that lead to me being in there to begin with, this particular incident made me feel so low, I wanted to take my own life that night. Like it was THAT bad! And I didn't even want to be in there anymore; I felt like everyone turned on me. Like my gastrointestinal issues somehow defined me and were more important than what I contributed as a person. It was just a rough time.
So if you are ever hanging out with someone and you smell something but it's abundantly clear that it wasn't intentional or done as a joke or to be funny? DO NOT draw attention to it; it's very humiliating and it hurts A LOT more than the gastrointestinal issues themselves ever could. And that goes for all bodily functions-farts, shits, burps, periods, boners, whatever. The body reacts how it's gonna react because that's it's natural role. So there's no need to draw attention to it or make a scene unless they are doing it as a joke. It's already an embarrassing function just because of how we've been conditioned to feel with it; there's no need to make it even worse. It is unnecessary and can be harmful.
    Pardon my rant; Autism's a hell of a drug.🤷‍♂️

I've never shied away from talking about my period especially when i'm on it and its so annoying when people act uncomfortable bc its very normal to me and I think even people who don't get them should be able to talk about it, just like you men did. LOVE this pod ! Really excited for it to grow !

I really loved how they asked questions and made room for her to explain her experiences instead of just saying "well we don't experience that so we'll never get it"

This is giving me Nam flashbacks. My WORST teacher ever was in KINDERGARTEN! I blame this woman for why i was always so silent in school. One time i had to use the bathroom, but she wouldn't let me unless I sponged the tables. Of course my little kid self needed to go so i just quickly did it. She had left the room in the meantime, and when she got back, she said i hadn't cleaned the tables well enough for her. Well jokes on her, because i couldn't hold it in and pissed my pants right in front of her. Seriously my most scarring moment in school. I have no idea how bad her life must have been to mistreat kindergarten children like that.

I wouldn’t say cookie was my first crush but he was definitely the first character as a more quirky black kid growing up I aspired to be like and wish my life was more like and I even wanted to get into acting at some point. Also his growth through the seasons made me feel I could glow up as well. Definitely Daniel Lee Curtis was my first celebrity inspiration. Watched Zeke and Luther just for Kojo.

I have a horrible middle school teacher story. It was music class and we were all sitting on the floor for some reason. I don't remember what we were doing but I asked Ms. B if I could go to the bathroom.. keep in mind I am a shy kid and I NEVER ask to go to the bathroom but I really had to and she tells me "You should've gone before class" you don't tell that to a 10 year old.. I pissed my pants in the middle of music class. There was a huge yellow puddle on the floor and it was the most embarrassing thing that I've ever experienced. I seriously think it was a traumatic moment in my life because it's one of the only thing I remember from that age.
