It was Alan's mixing of Martin's raw music that made them what they were. If you listen to Martin's versions before Alan refined them they were so different they were almost different songs. I remember an interview where it was said Martin didn't always like what Alan did to his songs but would concede to Alan anyway. He realized Alan was spot on when he saw the reactions of the fans, that was the proof. You can hear the struggles they had in production and mixing ever since Alan left with maybe the exception of the Ultra album which seems like almost what was leftover from the Wilder era to me. Wilder added layers to Martin's music that would have never existed without him. You hear all the layers the songs have? That's Alan. Martin is more raw as you will notice in DM songs without Alan, but I still appreciate Martin's work and raw talent very much. Many jumped the DM ship after Alan left.
Even if their best tour is the « Devotional Tour » this live is for me so special, the first i saw (sadly not live but on video)… and emotionally definitely the DM DNA. For me THE CONCERT i prefer… OK the way it has been filmed, edited is dated with the different images layers but it is so fresh so cute, so DM with Dave running across the stage, dancing. He has been quickly an amazing frontman
Hello again Seph, one of the reasons I love this video is that you have lots of Alans' footage doing what he does best, those magic fingers in action are such a mesmerazing view... 🤩😉
This is the first real Depeche Mode song. When I first heard it on The Singles 81-85 compilation with "Ou o u ou uuuu" and whole song started in its melancholic but majestic mood I definitely fell in love with with Depeche Mode 😊
I've always thought this was an odd choice to perform live. But clearly the band really like it, for they even played it on the BLACK CELEBRATION tour. Alan has such a great sense of rhythm. He makes playing those lead synth lines look easy.
Something i also noticed when i initially heard it was that Dave didn’t sing the last word from this verse : « Reached our natural conclusion Outlived the illusion I hate being in these situations That call for diplomatic relations If I only knew the answer Or I thought we had a chance Or I could stop this I would stop this thing From spreading like a cancer » Never knew a reason why Never trying too to know why Dit it was a kind en censure to don’t sing « cancer » live ?
You were so into Dave's dancing moves so you completely missed Alan's improvised solo at the end of the song....there you can really hear his musical talent. Go back and listen to it again and you'll understand....
@@suzannecorona6098 im actually doing the recording for one of their songs today and its the first recording. So if everything goes as planned it will be on at about 6pm GMT 😊
We all old DM fans, we love to see how Alan plays !
YES!!!!!
One of the best under rated songs ever!
One of my favourites 🤩

Once you see more live videos of Alans playing and then if you check out his Recoil project youll have an understanding of what a genius he is😀
I personally believe Martin wrote this song in response to Vince Clarke walking away after their first album dropped!
Alan Wilder was the musical genius at Depeche Mode.🙏👍
Alan the sound inventor and responsible for the unique typical Depeche Mode sound.🎶❤
I think we can all agree Depeche is the best band of the world❤
Greetings from Hamburg ❤
Really waiting for Songs Of Faith And Devotion react. And Devotional live. This is the top of Depeche Mode
Love this version of song...
Your room looks like mine at the end of the 80‘s😂 some of the posters I still own today😅
I wish it was my room. Its just a picture of a DM fans room haha
I love this song very much. One of my top DM favorites

good concert and happy to see Alan again! 😃
Ohh this was such a great Concert 😍
At some depeche mode partys there always was a contest called „Dave Dancing“.
I love that version🎉
I’m hopping to see your reactions of Songs of Faith and Devotion’s album
Sooo miss Alan in depeche these days.
Memento Mori is a good album so they're doing ok...

Just "ok"..
But they were superlatively brilliant with AW.
@@ANDRES77 put it this way, better than Alan 😉
@@paulb3517
Sorry, .. FANATICISM is not my thing.
I'm glad you still enjoy the new songs like that!, Good for you.
Sincerely.
@@ANDRES77 could say the same about u in regards to AW lol
Something i also noticed when i initially heard it was that Dave didn’t sing the last word from this verse :
« Reached our natural conclusion
Outlived the illusion
I hate being in these situations
That call for diplomatic relations
If I only knew the answer
Or I thought we had a chance
Or I could stop this
I would stop this thing
From spreading like a cancer »
Never knew a reason why
Never trying too to know why
Dit it was a kind en censure to don’t sing « cancer » live ?
Your best reaction yet
Thank you 😊
Hi seph youre wright Alan is a goat
You were so into Dave's dancing moves so you completely missed Alan's improvised solo at the end of the song....there you can really hear his musical talent. Go back and listen to it again and you'll understand....

One of the worst bands of all time
