    Good or bad, I always watched it with my mom. She passed away in 2008, so she never got to see the final season. But we would never miss an episode. Tom Welling wanted to be Superman in that Supergirl series.

      @@Seamonkey2407 - Tom Welling actually turned down playing Superman in *Supergirl* ... he has stated that he really didn't want to see himself suiting up as Superman.
      He only accepted to play in the *Crisis* crossover, because there would be no suit
      (hey at least we know Mr Welling is a man of his word, even to the point of stubbornness... so if you're thinking of dating him, put that in the + side)
      he would play Clark Kent, not "Superman", as on Smallville's Earth-167 , Clark has given up on his powers, because... he has kids now? And it's more valuable?
      It's kinda confusing, and it's a shame that canonically, Smallville's Supes has given up after 10 seasons spent earning the right to be called a hero.
      I still enjoyed that sequence, but it's kind of a kick in the nuts to all the fans who have invested 10 years in that show (I'm part of the "growing from a kid to a teen to a young adult alongside Clark") that next time he pops up in live action, it's to announce that after a couple years as Superman he found a way to remove his powers...

      And indeed it was a lot of fun watching Brendon Routh in the suit again, in a sort of mix between the "Superman Returns" one and the "Kingdom Come" supes, when it comes to the tragedies in his life...
      He's also great as Ray Palmer, the Atom...

    My theory about the Gotham finale is that the plan was a 2 hour episode but they were only allowed 1 hour and had to slash it up. It seemed like so much was missing.

    • @tokyodeathghoul2313
      @tokyodeathghoul2313 2 года назад +15

      Actually the opposite is true. Part way through production of the final season, Fox gave them an additional 3 episodes, one of them being Jim and Lee's wedding. The problem comes from the creators wanting to give the fans closure to the characters they have grown invested in, and in trying to give the fans a finale that was able to make them as content and happy as possible, as the creators genuinely cared about and appreciated the audience, they ended up trying too hard, resulting as the finale coming off as more fan service than anything. On top of that they also had many restrictions on what they were and were not allowed to do such as the many restrictions with the Joker alone and not being allowed to have the word "Batman" be said.

    Smallville's finale was a real letdown. Not only did we not get Clark in the supersuit, but the promised appearance of Darkseid was just relegated to him taking over Lionel Luthor's body; complete waste of time. The Lex losing his memories kinda makes sense, hear me out. In the Superman mythology Lex hates Superman for no apparent reason, but what if it was instinctive because of that past relationship with Clark that we saw in Smallville. Hating Superman because his subconscious knows of the strained relationship between him and Clark but actively having no recollection leading to a deeper hatred because there’s something on the tip of his mind that he can’t put his finger on.

    • @andrewcozzini8259
      @andrewcozzini8259 2 года назад +21

      Having liked this comment, as it's definitely an interesting theory, I would have to argue that Lex (in the comics and other versions) does in fact have a motive for hating Superman, albeit a different one. In most versions, Lex's hatred for Superman originates from a sense of jealousy (perhaps xenophobia) directed toward Superman and/or aliens, on the whole. Lex is often an ultra humanist who believes humanity to be inherently superior to all other life forms. Of course this flies in conflict with Superman's sheer existence, who's power dwarfs even his (Lex's) many accomplishments. (See stories like "All-Star Superman").
      However, all that being said I think your thoughts here make a lot of sense for this particular version. Even if it's not the usual reason, I think that would be a nice way to at least half acknowledge the 10 seasons worth of history between them, making it not entirely feel all for nothing. It would also be interesting to see more stories, wherein Lex still doesn't remember, but Clark, of course, remembers. IMO, that would be a really interesting dynamic that was sort of explored in the "Season 11" comics and hopefully in that upcoming animated series! Here's hoping! Cheers!

    One of my biggest issues with Smallville was taking lesser known characters from the comics and gave them names of better known characters. For example; "Deathstroke". The character was more akin to Wade Eiling aka The General but because Deathstroke is a bigger name, they just called him that. The same with Darkseid. While there were a few nods to Final Crisis (which there shouldn't have been), he was basically just Dominus.

    As a fan of all 12 seasons of Two And A Half Men the finale was bad. I was excited to see if Charlie would come back and the finale built it up like he was and then in the end it never happened. I was excited to see Charlie and Walden meet for the first time, Charlie finding out Alan still lives in the same house, Charlie and Jenny sharing a scene together would’ve been good and Charlie being proud that she’s gay, Charlie finding out Jake joined the army and moved out and Charlie finding out Walden and Alan got married and adopted Louis, all this would’ve been gold but instead it was just Chuck Lorre stroking his ego and proving that since it lasted 4 seasons without Charlie he didn’t need Charlie 🙄, I will admit there were some things I liked in the finale, Jake coming back I liked and even being able to make fun of himself was nice, also Arnold Schwarzenegger’s cameo was gold and him giving a rundown of the show was hilarious because on paper it really doesn’t make any sense unless you actually watch the show

    The thing with Teen Titans is that it wasn't supposed to be the finale, just the end of season five and the begining of season six, being this one the final season, but for some reason it got cancelled. • @silverdragon3132
      @silverdragon3132 9 месяцев назад

    • @0bomberjack0
      @0bomberjack0 9 месяцев назад

      @@silverdragon3132 There's conflicting information out about the cancelation but this has to be the dumbest take on it. "we don't want that icky Girl money" is something no Company ever said. If it was more popular with Girls they would've just geared it more towards them and make money that way, Capeshit has always tried (and mostly failed) to get Girls to buy their Comics, Merch etc so they wouldn't have let a chance like this go if it were true.
      What was more likely the issue is that Bandai held the Rights to the TT Toys. TT was cancelled the same Year Mattel became the "master toy licensee" for CN which is kinda odd timing. This way they didn't have to get out of the Contract since no Show means dropping Sales in Toys for Bandai and no advertising a Competitors product on your exclusive Partners Network. So Mattel would have financial Interest in making sure TT is gone from CN which was likely one of the conditions for the deal.

It would have been way more believable to cast an actual teen who would have been willing to wear the suit. With a younger actor, we would have had more life out of the character. In later seasons, Welling was clearly running out of steam on the show. And when he returned on the CW crossover, he STILL didn’t want to wear the suit. Which doesn’t make sense. Part of the reason the Gotham finale was underwhelming was because the show got cancelled. It was only renewed with a short final season to wrap everything up so they had less time to work with and try to fit everything into. I think the finale would have benefited from being a two-part episode rather than just one. That way the ten year time jump wouldn't have been so jarring and everyone's endings could have been resolved more cohesively.

    To be fair, the teen titans season five finale was supposed to lead into season six, which likely would have answered a lot of the unanswered questions from the series (was that Terra, who is Red X, what was that creature etc.). They apparently had already been in the recording studio for season six episode one when they got the cancellation notice. So that is more so on Cartoon Network for cancelling it when they did not poor planning on the producer’s part.

    About the ending of Teen Titians, I'm pretty sure they wrapped up the Terra mystery in one of the tie-in comics. Also, it wasn't supposed to be the end, but the network came down on them at the last minute. Kind of like another show that I love with a bad ending caused by the network: Quantum Leap. Great show, an absolute classic that I still watch every day when it comes on. The final episode though, good grief. It wasn't supposed to be the end, but rather lead into a 6th season, much like Teen Titans final episode. But then the network came along at the last minute, after everything had been filmed, and told them the show was cancelled. So the producers had to scramble and scrap the cliffhanger ending they had filmed in favor of something else What we got was a fade to black with text proclaiming that Sam never made it home. 30 years later, and many fans are still angry about that. But then, the people making the show didn't like that ending either, and were also disappointed, so in the end the lesson is don't hate and blame the creators and producers, hate the networks.

    When I explain this, I am 100% biased to Smallville as I was born the day Season 4 premiered and grew up with it. From the start, the writers and even Tom himself said NO TIGHTS, NO FLIGHTS for the basis of the show. It was founded on family values and the relatability of growing up feeling isolated and finding yourself, seizing your destiny, Clark's was just a little more outlined and planned than most LOL. The fact we saw him fly AND in (Brandon's) suit (albeit most scenes were digital) is a BLESSING from the writers. Tom never wanted to be in the suit which is probably why there was no establishing shot of him in it during the finale. Telling Lois his secret was really the last big moment, the only thing holding him back from becoming the greatest hero of all time. Looking back on all his trials as a way of unlocking flight was a beautiful homage to the show and its roots. Destroying Darkseid in Lionel 2's body instantly was eh, but I understand why given the villain's nature in the context of the show. I've always been iffy on Lex's return because they set him up to be 100% evil and in the most powerful position (in relation to Clark) he'd ever been up until that point and ripped it away from him. It's continued in the Season 11 comic storyline and may be touched upon in the animated sequel show Tom and Michael have been planning for years. Smallville was never about Superman, otherwise it would have been called Superman or Metropolis, it was always about Clark Kent and his journey. The finale to me is bittersweet as we have watched him grow up for a decade, all his losses and tragedies have been laid in front of our eyes, and yet he's going just beyond the horizon, just far enough out of reach for us to no longer see. It's otherwise perfect to me because of this.

    The end of Smallville was one of the worst things ever made when it comes to superhero shows. It's so bad that it makes Superman IV look like a piece of art.
    Two and a Half Men surpass it in terms of how much the finale sucks. I get that Charlie Sheen was problematic, but after he was fired, there were plenty of times they use the character of Charlie Harper to say crap about Sheen and in turn ruin Harper character. And the final episode just dialed up to 11.
    There are other finales that are just bad or even badder. Grimm, Supernatural, X-Files, Game of Thrones.

  • @brucenatelee
    @brucenatelee 2 года назад +3

    They fucked up Smallville's Clark Kent by keeping him from having the Superman identity, doing too much with things that happened after he got the suit before he did in the show. It's like a lot of adaptations are done not for the fans, but for the creators. They want to make their own version of another's story at the expense of the fans who want to see it come to life.
    Can we all agree that forcing Batman and Joker to be exclusive to movies kinda sucks? I mean, the only reason Arrow, Titans, and Batwoman were made and liked/tolerated is because they are the closest to Batman shows on TV. Also, the guy who played Batman in the last few seconds of Gotham was Mikhail Mudrik, who is both a rich real estate agent and expert in judo. Sure, many rich people can take a "karate/MMA class," but is interesting they actually hired one to be in the suit for 10 seconds.

Charlie himself now admits that he went too far and wasnt actually healthy mentally. And you guys can say like "why didnt they help him then?" or similar things like that but they actually did. They stopped filming multiple times because Charlie Sheen was not able to work. And trust me, stopping filming costs way too high. Its not just "ok guys go home we filmthis shit 2 months later, cya" , no it doesnt work like that. There are hundreds of workers, rented electronical devices which some of them costs around 200.000$, studios etc etc its not that simple.
    I really wished that Charlie Sheen was healthier before but from the positive side, that rant got him out of this stupid loop. He seems to do fine rn which is way more important imo. Losing everything he got maybe shocked him to reality.

    Smallville went downhill after seasons 3 and 4? What!!!? In my opinion, it didn't start getting good until the finale of season 2. The show got much better in the later years when it started to embrace more of the superman comic book mythos. Welling and Durante started to actually look more like Clark and Lois as they got older and definitely nailed it 100% by the last 3 seasons. Once the show started to shed that signature soap opera WB style that all the WB and early CW shows were full of, it really started to cement it's status. Had it not been for the later seasons of smallville, there would have been no arrowverse.

    To be fair the show really really went downhill in the last 3 seasons to the point of parody, with a massive dip in acting quality, constantly contradicting previous established lore, plot holes bigger than the Grand Canyon and stupid politics forced in and some of the dumbest dialogue on tv.
    But the Finale was boring and lifeless and felt like a slap in the face to those of us who loyally watched the show for 15 years. The one genuinely good scene it had was completely ruined by the forced rush to get to it after 15 minutes of literally nothing happening and then having very bland vampires that had zero build up in childish and cheap looking masks kill the main character... WTF! Then it was slow, boring, cheesy and had zero pay off.

      Not true. CW loved the show. If they didn’t they would have just cancelled it during the pandemic.

      @@thribs They crapped all over it in the last three seasons, not something you do to a show you care about.
      They also hate Batman yet keep the pathetically low rated Batwoman (far less than Half a million viewers look it up) going just to deconstruct and ruin Batman's legacy. Hell they even went so far as to have Batwoman kill another universes Batman.
      The CW clearly hate Walker Texas Ranger, the show is a joke with this Walker being one of the weakest most pathetic men ever on tv and viwership is low.
      They clearly made the show just to take it apart and mock it.
      It has nothing in common with the superior Chuck Norris original.
      CW became a network that is all about ideology and pushing The Message rather than caring about ratings (just look how horribly low the ratings are on its shows) or quality story telling and entertainment.
      Compare the last three seasons of Supernatural to the amazing completed original 5 season arc, the shows look and feel NOTHING alike. Season 12 was still ok but suffered in the way you would expect from a show in it's 12th season, then in 13 you can tell the CW fully got involved in the show and crapped all over it.

    Smallville is a prequel series. He is in the process of becoming Superman. So no suit!

    He was not superman he was Clark Kent. He didn't want to show the suit because that would change the focus of the show.

    The stupid thing about this is that they could have just gone with lex knowing and his father not dying. Just call the show an alternate universe. That's already a thing in DC cannon anyway. Just call it Earth-(Insert random number here) and run with it.

    You really need to update this to include the “Blacklist” finale.
