Hi I moved to England, West Yorkshire years ago, this is my home town and I can see the balcony of my mothers flat in the opposite block of flats. It’s so cool to see brits loving it in my home town as I do, all the best to you guys, great vid
@@AshandKels going there soon for Christmas with my English wife and our kids, we’re really excited as it’s going to their first time where they’ll experience proper winter , I can’t figure out your accents guys, are you Welsh ?
You definitely need to come back in summer or if in winter Christmas as time from September until Christmas is as locals call it “dead period” and there isn’t a single living soul about, as opposed to rest of the time where is absolutely packed to the point where you’d be rubbing against a strangers to be able to move forward. Shall you come back again I’m more than happy to give you any advice about zakopane .
Happy that you enjoyed guys, you probably managed to be in Zakopane in the best time as you get to see Zakopane without and with snow:) Hope that motherland treats you well!
Polish mountains are beautiful and Zakopane is magical, especially in winter. It's wonderful to be there when the World Cup ski jumping competitions are taking place and the Polish jumpers are jumping. You should see what is going on there one day and when a Polish ski jumper wins and everyone who is there, several thousand people, sing the Polish national anthem, it's a very beautiful experience. I know that the British are not very interested in ski jumping, but it is worth visiting or watching TV sometime out of curiosity
Fun fact! Tree that it calls in English "spruce" is in fact a Polish word. When tree/wood was delivered to England locals were asking what kind of tree this is. In Polish "z prus" ment in direct translation "from Prussia" Polish merchants were simply replaying where the wood was from, and that is how name of the tree became word in English.
The amount of snow that you have witnessed, is nothing compared what it was 25 years ago ;) During the winter time there was always over 1 m snow. I am from this area of Podhale. As a kid we used to build igloos and they lasted for at least 2 months 6 m high.
Unfortunately the day we were going to go it was a bit late in the day and started raining. We’ve been told it’s amazing and we’re planning on coming back in the summer to visit there 😁
It's a pleasure watching you guys enjoying Poland! I love your accents too 🥰I must say, this video made me nostalgic, as I'm missing seeing how beautiful Poland looks all covered in snow. I've subscribed for more, safe travels!
I would have bought you a traditional Polish wooden sled if I knew that your $5 sled would be this slow. 👀 We used to break our legs sometimes when we were kids because they went really fast. Many great childhood memories. 👍
@@AshandKels You grab onto the front nose of it like you would grab onto a speeding luge sled and you bring the nose upward, as you slow down using the back of your heels. Don't ever use the tips of your feet to slow down or you'll fly forward and get get a bloody nose. Used to come into school with the skin burned off of my face from the snow. 💖
Zakopane has its charm, but in Poland there are many more beautiful towns than Zakopane, Zakopane owes its popularity to the mountains and the lake called "Morskie Oko" Greetings from Warsaw 🇵🇱🇵🇱🇵🇱
There is little snow, you can still see the grass in my region. A few years ago we did not have to make mountains out of snow [I live on a flat area], because we had several meters long snowdrifts created by nature :P
Thank you so much! Can’t remember the exact location, but we just googled best places to sledge in Zakopane and then read an article and chose that location!

The inflation of Polish Zloty makes everything feel cheap for you because the Pound Sterling remains fairly stable and valuable still. However for people earning in Zloty it is a disaster. Most salaries are not adjusted as fast as the prices in shops are. It is very possible that in 2022 each pound will be worth more than 6 PLN.
Hey, would you be able to tell if it's common to find people selling sleds in Zakopane? I'm trying to find them online but apparently this is a "street selling" item.
They sell them on the Main Street in shops and little stalls. Also at the market at the bottom of the funicular. You’ll probably be able to buy them at the top of the funicular too! We bought ours at a shop near the ski jump place 😅 What I’m trying to say is they’re everywhere and you’ll have no trouble finding them! 😅😄
Funny! Well, some people say it's not the best time to come - November and COVID. But you're having Fun! On the bright side - Polish currency - zloty is weak recently - European Union(Germany really) put sanctions on Poland and Belarus supported by Russia started a Hybrid War against us. So, it's much cheaper for You! GBP is not strong in recent years, it's just Polish currency is even weaker! Enjoy while it's cheap!
Well, that's not this simple you describe it. EU didn't put sanctions on Poland, are u insane? GBP actually is pretty strong, inflation is a thing, but we're probably at a peak now. Like every other country.
