This trip was completed in Feb 2023 guided by Alan’s grandparents who live in Poland and know the area well.
Somewhere which is often overlooked as a destination but has so many things to offer for a winter holiday including:
[ ] Gubalowka mountain (an amazing view point with winter sports)
[ ] Kulig - traditional horse draw carriage in the forest and mountains
[ ] Skiing - is much more affordable than in many other countries and has varied slopes ranging for beginners to advanced skiers. (KOTELNIKA and Symoszkowa are the ones we visited)
[ ] Food - so much traditional food and a great culinary experience
[ ] Thermal baths - Terme Bania

@@mariankowalski9797 w lato nie było kuligu ale było pięknie, sarenki w mieście po trawie chodziły itd. Byłem dokładnie w tej samej restauracji dokładnie w tym samym miejscu u fakira chyba się nazywa
Odwiedziłam góry gdy byłam nastolatką,w rodzinnych stronach mojego szwagra - Przysietnica ( pow. Barcice 🤔), Cyrchla , Prechyba, te nazwy pozostały mi w głowie, widoki piękne ale chodzić po nich w górę nie dla mnie 🤗 że względów zdrowotnych. Za to bardzo lubię oglądać filmy o pięknych POLSKICH GÓRACH, w ogóle cała POLSKA jest po prostu PIĘKNA 🥰🤩😍🇵🇱❤️🇵🇱

Thanks for posting. As Aussie just found Zakapone. Looks amazing. Was it far from this apartment to get breakfast and that main street starting with K where everyone goes? Also did it have a washing machine by any chance?
And where you went skiing do you know if they had sledding and tubing with a lift or magic carpet? I know we can do it somewhere but a little confused.

Kropowki street was about 10 minutes walk from the hotel. We didn’t do any washing as we took lots of clothes but on booking there will be information whether they have washing machine. Nowadays most of hotels have this facility though. There is plenty of ski slopes we started easy as my girlfriend is a beginner on day 1 but then we moved to Bialka Tatrzanska, kotelnica tatrzanska it was called where there was so many slopes with different difficulty levels so I could ski and my girlfriend adequately to our skills.
Mainly lifts we used and I have seen carpet right at the bottom for kids.
Any idea what snow conditions would be like in the first weekend of March, not for skiing just around the main high street.

How did you pay for the beers in the thermal baths? I’m going with mates in November so just trying to find things out
You are getting wristband on the entry and just tap it at the bar or restaurant when ordering. Everything you pay for at the end when you exit.

Would it be good for an English family? Is the skiing accessible from Zakopane?
It's good for families and there's lots of private mini buses / vans bringing tourists / skiers to the ski slopes and back. No problem with moving around at all.
Hi. Where exactly is that hotel with thermal baths with bar in the middle please 😊I've checked online and there is couple as the Therme Bania looks like a chain hotels. Thank you 😊

Did you have a car or is it easy to get around via public transport? What part would you recommend staying in.
Alans polish grandparents met us there for the week and brought their car so we could get around a bit more freely. This meant we could go to terma bania and the more outreach ski slopes easier. Having said that we did do a couple of public buses and took the one direct from the airport in Krakow to Zakopane which was a really nice coach, so I think the transportation there is quite good. Car hire is also cheap. I would say to stay near Krupowski centre so it near is near to more tourist attractions. Hope this helps

Hi, We are going to Zakopane in February and just wondered if you hired a car whilst you were there? If so, would you recommend it? It seems like the cheapest way to get from the airport but we've read a lot of bad stories about driving in Poland. Any advice you can give would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
Hi we travelled from krakow by a bus however we just looked that for period from 18th January for a week of something like Tiguan would cost us 117£ if booked via booking . com. So we would this time definitely book the car hire. Pick up shows from airport in krakow. Hope this helps

I’m taking my girlfriend to Krakow for her birthday, is it worth going to Zakopane or is it too busy in February? I’ve seen mixed reviews.. it’ll be on a Friday if that makes any different 😅
Hello we went at the beginning of March and was perfect in terms of tourism and ski slopes as it was not busy. However if you go in March you might hit school break which can make it busy and prices to be slightly higher. Hope it helps

Is the spa adults only?
Don’t think it was however part outside we went to didn’t have many kids. There are definitely parts of it for kids. It’s family friendly place.
How much for the apartment
It was 750 for a week. 4 people in apartament. It was in February/March so school holiday just finished so the prices might be slightly lower than they would few weeks earlier.
